I never really understood what region was 'The South' exactly. Is it the southeast or just the whole southern half of the USA because I live here in Arizona and sure there are alot of hicks and the like around here but I think that the majority of the population is intelligent and capable of carrying a conversation. i was thinking the same thing NowhereMan, but i guess didn't want to sound rude; thats good ol' southern hospatlity for ya, which is few and far between in the north.

I like the confederates. I think they were cool, they were fighting for their country and their plantations.
I have in some cases made blatant racist comments, I do however believe in equal and civil rights for whites, mexicans, iranians, african americans, creoles, ect.

I am willing to bet no more than maybe 2 or 3 people (if that many!) on this board have any true understanding about the causality involved in starting the US Civil War. So please shut your mouth about how you think the south is cool cuz you like the Duke bro's. (who absolutely kick ass ;) )

my state was made during the civil war,half was union (western part)and well the rest of virginia was the capital of the confederacy
we really had brothers fighting both sides,
it was a totall fucked up time,and ol abe didnt free no slaves
he freed PROPERTY (owned people)of the rebels only in places they took over.

they really wasnt free untill 1964,some say they aint now,but in this america nobody is free 100%

I was watching deliverance last nite. I was just wondering, maybe you southern bible thumpers can answer me a question? Why are you all against gay marriage, yet you ass rape city men on canoe trips?
Ok thats a movie, but you see gay in the closet hicks from the bible belt all the time. Take for instance on "cops" the show on Fox. A big fat pig who says ve-hi-cle and mentions "the lord" all the time, this same fat funny sounding bubba, whenever he frisks someone he goes straight for the balls. Its obvious he loves it, whats up with that?
Or the american military, thats all small town bible belt trash, why are they so into naked iraqi men in pyramids? If you asked any of this trash about homosexuality you would get "i love jesus and them faggots", but obviously they are gay. What up with the denial in the bible belt?
I have nothing against gays but around here they dont express their homosexual thru a job like prison guard. Just come out of the closet, you will be much happier when getting your jollies at a gay bar rather than sticking your hand in a mans underwear under the pretense of looking for drugs.

Isn't the bible belt the mid west? That's what I always thought.

I'm from the NE and have always been from here but these kinds of comments are the reason why Bush won the election. If the "yankees" keep telling the south and midwest that they are ignorant God loving racist, hicks you can wave good bye to the democratic party cause there's more of them than liberal northerners.

I think a lot of people from the south think everyone from the north acts like those hot shot wall street bankers and hollywood celebrities (all about money, gucci, versace, nice cars, materialism, crazy parties and no values) and folks from the north see folks from the south as completely uneducated backwoods rifle totin ku klux klan members. There's more the same than different.

Folks down south tend to have more traditional family values, they tend to be more tight knit with their neighbors. And if someones got a problem with you, they got a problem with your whole neighborhood. I'm not Christian and I don't really like the church or organized religion all that much but I won't deny that they can be very good influences on some people and they do a lot of community service. And if it makes folks better people than I got no problem with that.

Without the south we wouldn't have soul food, or cajun food and man that'd suck. Fried chicken, fried catfish, jambalaya and gumbo. mmmmmmm

We got assholes and idiots all over the US and all over the world but most normal folk are much more similar than different. They want their kids to be safe, to earn an honest living, have a bit of fun, get married to the girl or guy they love, they want a nice place to live. SO I could care less if they like country and I like rap, the important stuff is more similar than different.

i think supression of gay people in the south is why many gay people in the south feel socially forced to act "as a bible respecting southerner should" and take their urges out in other ways. i do believe the north is more accepting of social differences, thus allowing people to act how they want(need) to.
