I remember the first visit to see The Nightwatch , it is still one of my alltime favourite paintings , I could stand and stare at it for days it is so beautiful.
I can't believe someone vandalised it.

This was my personal favorite by Vermeer.
I have to agree that it is a wonderful painting, the atmosphere and clarity is beyond most artists ability and the "feel" of it is one of warmth and familiarity.
Amsterdam has so many museums dedicated to art that it is well worth a visit just to see them .
