Feeling Guilty After Smoking?
I only feel guilty after smoking when i have shit that i should be doing when i'm getting high.
I also sometimes wonder what my life would be like if i had never started smoking dope (i smoked through most of my years at school and without a doubt it affected my performance)
On the other hand i think of all the fun times, friends and sound people that it has bought me and then i feel glad that i chose weed as my drug of choice. At the end of the day, weed is a part of my life and if i hadn't discovered it i wouldn't be the same person that i am today.

Fuck guilt. Only good people feel guilty, while evil people just want blood. In other words, if you feel guilty, you are probably a good person. I think about a lot of deep shit when I get stoned. I never feel guilty for smoking, but I think about good and bad choices I have made, and how to change what I do now, because the present affects the future.

well you can take these words of Jesus as an indicator that it's not morally relevant that you smoke weed. It's relevant if you smoke it then do something ill-mannered or deplorable:
Matthew 15:11 "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man."

I think you have the right perspective. Your smoking of weed was inevitable simply because it happened. Sometimes I wonder if I hadn't met the friend who first smoked me out, maybe I never would have done it. But someone else would have come along and I would have had the same propensity. I'm somewhat of a fatalist, but I see it more as a choose-your-own-adventure story. THere are certain fates you follow, but you have the choice which one to follow.

Haha, I'm sorry, but this just sounds really funny.
I don't feel guilty- I need it for pain management, and I don't get so stoned that I don't do what I need to do for the day. I wouldn't sweat it; as long as you keep your job, grades, and family inline, it's all good.
Society has it all wrong- we're expected to show embarassment, remorse, and shame at stuff that feels good and appeals to us- getting stoned, porn, sex, fooling around with friends... People need to experience things for the experience, not worry about what other people think about you while you're doing it. They're probably not stoned, so that's why they feel resentment towards you.
Go with the flow!

What i got from this thread was not that the act of smoking caused the guilt, but the stoned thoughts about how to improve one's life made the individual feel guilty. I will say that from personal experiance, when high, my thoughts can be ambiguous, they are not always happy, euphoric thoughts as stereotyped by cannabis consumption. So, should i feel guilty because i'm not happy all the time when stoned? No, because to truly be guilty, one would have had to commit a crime (which the legislation behind that law is NOT arbitrary) Thus, there is no need to feel guilty for smoking cannabis, as has been agreed generally in this thread by the majority. You shouldn't feel guilty because cannabis can cause oneself to truly analyse life, why we do what we do so to speak. Some of the thoughts brought to the surface which have been hidden self consciously suddenly arise and sometimes you're not ready to deal with those issues.. However, it is a great thing to deal with whatever problems you have and can actually deal with. Cannabis is a great tool for pondering and philosophizing, it aids the progression of man, when that man is ready and willing to progress through his adversities.

I understand your point and agree. On the other hand, I've blazed a few times when life isn't going to well and used smoking as a scape goat (I know its dumb but Im human and think irrational shit sometimes). Ive felt pretty guilty in the past.
But if I were to take a step back and think about it. I could never feel guilty about the act of blazing and being high.

I don't think any sensible person here would condone smoking to escape or to relieve normal human emotion. The benignity of mj is a valid notion only when it is used responsibly and to celebrate and enhance life. Your example isn't a case of mj usage, it's a case of an individual seeking outlet from personal unrest.

The question was 'Have you ever felt guilty from smoking MJ'. Yes, I have and I think it is completely human. I think its ludicrous sometimes but sometimes it brings my hidden guilty feelings out. That's what makes it so lovely. I'm more true to myself when I'm high. When I'm happy and stoned, I'm on top of the world. On the other hand, I've been high and felt guilty and it evoked changes in my life. Win win.
