The whole way he dealed with it was PATHETIC.
There was no punishment required. A good parent wouldnt sell something they knew the child wanted so much, humiliate them in the process and just come off as an ignorant fool, which he is. A good parent would sit the child down, and TALK. They'd bother doing some REAL research. They'd either compromise OR set down house rules. Yeah, the kids only 15, but do you think this will change his mind? All it would have done is pissed him right fucking off. He hasnt learnt anything. Talking about the consequences, and risks, and TALKING to the child like an adult will do the trick.
Your just as bad as him.
:S4: Spin on that! :mad::thumbsup:

First off, the kid humiliated himself. Getting busted is humiliating, its not like the dad made it a spectacle, some newstation probably picked up on the story when it was checking prices for the hottest xmas gifts, and he withheld his and his sons names. The only people who know who this kid actually is are the people who were with him when he got busted and the people they told. WTF are you talking about compromising. What is the kid allowed to smoke weed on the weekends but not weekdays, and I seriously doubt he didn't already know smoking weed was against house rules. Of course the dad should talk to him about it, I didn't say to just sell it and never say anything else about. I've known a lot of people who've had parents who were really strict and also people whose parents did the whole hippy never punish thing. Both of these extremes don't work, you need a balance. 15 year olds are stupid (no offense to any 15 year olds), and most aren't yet capable of understanding that their actions now can affect their future 20 years from now. You need to make him understand the risks and make him a little scared to do it again. Punishment isn't supposed to be pleasant. If the kid loves video games take away his video games. Whats the point of taking away something he doesn't give a shit about. Ok I'm gonna rip this bong. Peace.

Well i still think your completely wrong.
The kids dad obviously doesnt know the first thing about cannabis, so he CANT sit his child down and talk, AND give him the facts. All he did was tell him it was flat out wrong.
Scaring a child away from doing something is the wrong way to go about it. :rastasmoke:

The father believes he is infallible, for a belief to be strong, one must know the truth on both sides of the coin. It is obvious he does not.

Awwwww man, I was being a wiseass.
Brian Adams would NEVER make it onto Guitar Hero. Hell, I doubt he could even get the game to tell him 'you rock!'... because he doesn't.

Thats your solution?!! To do some "research" on weed, then tell the kid that weed is not that harmful and a lot of the risks are blown out of proportion or outright lies. Thats basically encouraging the kid to keep smoking. For the record, the only way to "research" weed is to smoke it yourself, NORML and other pro-marijuana studies are just as biased and full of shit as the gov'ts. I guess we're just gonna have to agree to disagree on this one LIP:pimp:
