Thirty is the old age of youth, and fifty is the youth of old age.
I feel old today. I've been "up to my ass in alligators" all day, though. (My husband's saying.)
I don't feel old, i just turned 24 last week, and it stings a bit, but i dont FEEL old.. mentally and emotionally its another thing..
my best friend had one of those last Thanksgiving day. we were tellin this kid that didnt want to finish high school, bout how no matter what u think now, the odds of people going back to school are slim, and she said, "yeah, i though the same thing and now its been.. 8 years.." then she looks up and bursts out crying cause she cant believe its been so long..Quote:

Man... i understand you... as i feel exactly the same... ancient, but not old... or rather... ancient to some aspects, and young to another ones... well... its really hard to explain.Quote:

Funny thing Coelho, I've always loved that song, but about 2 months ago I was listening to it in the car and it just hit me like a ton of bricks. I'm almost 30. I don't want to look back and say I missed the starting gun.
I decided to make a very profound change in my lifestyle, to move on to the next big thing. I've always wanted to have my own business, even if it's on the side of my normal job. I feel like doing something new or learning a new skill is what keeps us young.
It's time to be young again.
age is timeless
Sometimes I feel pretty damn old (when passing a mirror- gack!) but mostly I feel better than when I was younger, the physical notwithstanding!
I have learned many things in my numerous years on the planet, mostly the hard, stubborn way:)
But I am much more centered and self-aware (years of therapy!), and can see a bigger picture than when I was younger. I feel very empathetic toward young people because I so clearly remember how unsettled and swirled I felt in that part of my life, so that actually helps me as a teacher. Our circumstances, no matter how dire, can be the very thing that builds us to our full potential - that's one thing I have found to be true.
I am much happier than when I was younger. But life can change in an instant, so I try to celebrate each moment today.
When I get the feeling that I am getting old, I just get the nice lady who wipes my ass to reassure me.
