In the end the top was starting to die off, like some of the lower stuff that had been affected. Its sorta whispy, some trics and even a couple seeds. I just took off the other tw o branches that were still growing fine, they share the whispyness however the buds ended up looking pretty nice. I need to busy my microscope out and check now that they've been drying in a closet the last 4 days
I`d cut it Now! im with opie.Some of the buds already look mouldy,I had a small problem with it the end of this season.

see if you can remove the rot, if ynot check the branches/buds.
grow it till it kills itself, or until the buds look in danger and pull it then
in other words...let the damn thing die, so long as the bud doesnt go with it!
It looks to me like the stem must have been wet for awhile and judging by the vegatation around it when it was green and denser it would have allowed that to happen not to mention you can tell that it wasn't getting a whole lot of light down there because of the lack of leaves IMO it looks like the stem is rotted and you should see how it goes but if that rot got deep enough it's gonna die and even if it was getting nutes and water I would think it would impart some bad tastes into the bud and I would maybe sample a bud and decide from that
