duppy, you don't see with your eyes, you see with your brain, thats why you are able to hallucinate, because your brain puts the images in what you perceive to be in front of you, but they aren't really there are they? if someone is blind, and they had sight at one time, images will appear, when you do shrooms, acid, whatever your imagination takes over, are u accusing the blind of not having an imagination? all people have imaginations, the blind aren't people?
it's a paradox.. it's not answerable... see, to hallucinate is to see images.. but if you're blind you've never seen an image... so it's a matter of defining something that you can't define.. like a blind man asking you to describe the color red.. it can't be done..
Still, it's a very deep thought. I'll have to ponder it over for a while.
(Sidenote: Can you tell I'm a Philosophy major? Ugh... )
True Mello, but what about blind who have seen before?
"Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to greater danger. It works the same in any country."
SO TRUE.........................thanks for time taken to think about this in my opinion we don't think enough....so this is great coming from the great unwashed..."dope heads" ect.. we are the backbone of society and don't forget it ..
I would agree that you would have to have sight at some point in your life to have "hallucinations".
But you would still "see" something if you had never had sight.
It may be the best way to show color to the blind.
I've asked myself the same very question.... I came up with an idea, if a blind person took acid or shrooms etc.... Their senses would go haywire, imagine. They can't see, so their hearing is what they depend on, it would probably then "tweak" their hearing capabilities.... But, I still can't say if they would see anything.... I don't know? If a deaf person took a hallucinogenic drug, imagine what kind of trip they would be in for.... Pretty interesting.....
My opinion is that blind people can infact hallucinate. They won't be able to identify and register what color is, but I have no doubt they'll "see" it. If they detached their retina and it bleeds, your vision would have a purpleish ooze to it. My brother is legally blind, but not completely blind. He trips and sees visuals like everyone else.
Psycadellics open a door to another world where you are free from any physical or mental bonds, so i would think a blind person would hallucinate just as much as someone like you or me. I get the strongest thoughts and images when my eyes are closed, so i dont see how blindness would affect it.Quote:
