record sales drop about a million percent? What?
When using torrents you're constantly uploading, so it doesn't help you from getting caught. ;)
if you live in the USA and are paranoid, PeerGuardian isn't the answer (although it does help). the answer is private trackers/newsgroups. on anything public it's easy to get caught.
Do you share music? While I agree with you that peer guardian won't totally protect you (even tough i think you give it less credit then it deserves), when you're on a private network you have to be able find a network, and then depending on how big/small the network is the amount of stuff you can get is limited. Bigger network = more choices.

either way, the chances of getting caught are nealy nil....
i mean just think about how many people download music, then think about how many actually get sued by the IRAA... you probably stand about the same chance as being struck by lightning.

The arts should be free, in the future if no one knows thier music cause not to many people whow bought the CD are still alive, their music will die. And then they can sue me then when I dont know who they are and dont give a fuk who they are.
LOL, man you do NOT need "thousands of dollars in virus protection". Just get a few free programs like spyware blaster, A-Squared, anti-vir, and avoid the crap that is Nortan AntiVirus like the plague. I know malware inside out and have yet to get a virus I couldn't destroy. The worst ever was the slimshield trojan, and the blaster worm, but still those didn't cost one penny to get rid of.
Music just aint that risky, porn is what you really want to fear and avoid. Even so, just learn a few things and you'll realize that viruses aren't that big a deal, and most are made by 16yo kids with randomized auto-programming software that makes viruses so pathetic you could kill them with a tylenol.

Since basically everyone does it, they can't stop it. If everyone grew cannabis, they couldn't stop it. Or something like that :stoned:

actually no, programs are what you want to avoid.... it's by far easier to infect someone's comp througha downloaded program than any other form of download
i try not to mess with that shit too much... lol far too risky... since i don't use anti-spyware or anti-virus (i'm just really careful about what i do online... haven't had a problem in a good long while eihter)

They can barely stop it now even though everyone dosn't. The DEA is a joke. It's like they're trying to stop a waterfall with an umbrella.

on private trackers, you're forced to share music becuase keeping a ratio is a vital part about not getting banned. I didn't mean networks as in finding ones (like Gnutella), I meant something more decentralized or torrents, or even Usenet.

That is only half-true. Getting caught is as simple as uploading 1 byte. However, the chances of getting sued are neatly nil, although it's still possible. While I've had numerous copyright infringement letters, no court dates or any official legal documents were set up. Also, it's up to your ISP to decide whether they drop you. Many ISPs will also cap your speeds if they notice you're upload too much. And, depending on where you live, you only have a few ISP choices.

I do kinda agree with you but some viruses are not actualy viruses but sub zeros, spooks, or sleepers, usualy virus protection never pics em up cause their not realy their however when, you have something in your computer to activate the spook then someone is already in your computer and they look for the object which activated the program. This is a form of gurilla warfar, "take from them everything and give back nuthiung"

I use BT. I download a lot. I don't let people upload from me(except rarer stuff), and I doubt the RIAA gives a fuck less about me, the artist, or anyone else. All they see is $$$.
