Acouwaila, you might still take offence to it, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you're ignorant of that subject or topic. Like One said, we're all ignorant about - well, relatively to the amount that could be known, we're all completely ignorant.

Hahaha It's refreshing to know other people know what I think about almost everytime someone says that word. Everyone uses it as if it means rude.

Hey, just realized something. How come can you call somebody ignorant in english if the word itself doesn't even have the second sense of not knowing much..Or does it?
Oh and ignorant isnt necessarily mean, it can be like...kids are ignorant about life and all kinds of stuff cause they haven't learned yet.

I was wondering if it meant the same in english, so that it would make sense. If it only means to not care about something, then theres something wrong xD

When i posted this thread i had in mind one example of ignorant being misused.
The other day someone called my dog. The dog didn't come. So then the person who called him said the dog was "ignorant" because he had "ignored" the command.
I said "No, he's arrogant. He wont come to you because he knows you're not his master."
I called him and he came.

you can also be willfully ignorent as well...
wikipedia states: Willful ignorance is a bad faith decision to avoid becoming informed about something so as to avoid having to make undesirable decisions that such information might prompt.
So if the information is presented yet such a person refuses to except the information or just chooses to disregard the information although they have already been informed then they are being willfully ignorant
