I just hate it when an underage buyer gets my favorite head shop closed. No offense dude, but you had no business being in there in the first place, but you really blew it by using stoner terms (bong and the like).

yes, actually they can be closed for that... the only thing that keeps them legal to begin with is becuase they're assumed to be for smoking tobacco or legal herbs... when you start attaching names of devices used pretty much soley for illegal drugs, it causes alot of problems. i've never personally seen it happen, but it can.Quote:

and also, you better believe there are people wherever that headshop is, that are just waiting for one fuck up, so they can enforce the law and close it down. they see it as winning a battle in the 'war on drugs'
There's a head shop near where I lived that's managed by a full-fledged soccer mom. She has her kids names on the back of her van and everything.
one of the headshops i frequented was next door to my first jobs place. he always called em pipes and bongs.Quote:

Yeah, Slipknot is correct. Using the term "bong" can get the owner in trouble. Why? Because if you live in a jurisdiction where sale or possession of drug paraphernalia is a crime then referring to the water pipe as a bong (a term associated with drung para.) and then selling and/or buying it has got ya in the hot seat. Some jurisdiction's statutes or ordinances actually use that exact word, "bong" as a descriptor of drug para. So now you understand why the clerk doesn't want to acknowledge the existence of a "bong" in their shop.
My head shop will not sell you anything if you used any phrases like: bong, hitter, dugout(its a "tobacco taster!"), or bowl.
Kinda stupid. You could smoke tobacco out of it and still call it a bong...
oh i'm not arguing with the stupidity of the whole thing... everyone, EVERYONE knows what it's being used for, seems kinda pointless to me to call it one thing when everyone else knows it's something else....
that'd be like a jew calling a pig a cow so he can still eat it :p
There will always be exceptions to rules.
This rule is to use the correct terminology.
We all make mistakes, don't give people reasons to do things.
ooo well i guess in some areas then it can be closed down but where I live you can use the words freely in any shop and use the words with the owners and employees i guess its just different places different rules
I remember when you could outright say bong in a headshop here... things around here changed in the early 70's when all of a sudden they were all getting closed down...
