Episode 3...Revenge of the LED
we have been using the roots too....seems just as hot and tight as FFoF alone...seems to be my only issue i guess...Stuck finger in pot...packed n wet still, so there ya go!
Gonna drill hella holes in it today, and add perlite to the clones that are getting transplanted soon
thanks to all for the help, I am sure this rootbound/water-logged issue will solve the rest, everything was tip-top other wise. temp, Ph, rh...

certainly nothing as light, but there are a lot of things you can mix with your soil to help it get air.
pumice or expanded clay, though the latter will retain more moisture, so don't use with much vermiculite, if any. Also there is crude perlite, which is not expanded and more the color of soil. Don't know where to find it.

Hey veggii, what about spreading a bunch of perlite out on a sheet of cardboard and spray painting it soil color? Spray lightly as to not fill in the holes. I know, I'm definitely outside of the box.
Oh yeah, what I do about perlite standing out is to mulch or cover it with some dead grass or leaves. Mulching has lots of other benefits anyway.

Mo' betta, spray inside da box, ya?
Dat stuff is skittery.

And, if you don't cover it with something it tends to rise to the surface and blow away
No stress about perlite.
It's not gonna trigger Leo, the louse.
It's a very common item.
Something you find around the house.:D
Gardeners have been fluffing their soil with it for 30+ years.
Don't know if it's effective for blocking gnat n midges though.
Its much more usefull mixed with the dirt,
When using LEDs, us cheap buggahs won't waste watts.
I always used something white or reflective to cover those dirty pots.
I'm using CDs now to cover my rockwool and hydrotron.
Stops algae, reflects lots of light and annoys bugs.
Looks pretty  too.
Ciao fo' now.

sounds like a stellar idea! changing color would work!! hmmmm maybe soak in gallon of sun tea ?? turn it brown maybe? that could work

Thanks guys!! Think the 3-4 days of tropical coverings on the pots took care of said midges and such..
The Church went into a WELL drilled Gro-Depot 5 gal bucket, with Roots Organic and added about 40% perlite to said soil. Loosened up the rootball a bit and set her in...she should be fine
All the other pots also got 8-14 3/4in holes drilled in the pots, and the sand taken off, Im sure it wasn't helping the waterlogged issue...All the dirt mix in the other pots are PACKED...So some skewer stabbin will be going on in those pots tonight...

Feel free to chastise, but I went hari-kari on these root balls with some thin wooden skewers. Had to. The root balls were all ROCK hard...You were right again stinks:greenthumb:
So with all the extra 3/4in holes, and the stabbing, the rest of the girls should be fine till harvest...I hope.
The Church definitely should recover...
They all got a LIGHT feeding this morning too, not enough to drain out even

15 of the 18 clones I took are rooted and going strong...I already FIMed the mother potentials, going bush/bonsai for the mums...So I guess ALL is not lost if worst case scenario occurs...
Episode 3...Revenge of the LED
