So right off the bat your almost paying twice the cost due to currency exchange.so your 12-15 euro gram is now costing about $22-29 usd. And i seen grams that were selling for 17-20 euro as well... and not to be cocky or anything like that, but the cannabis that I brought with me, was far better than anything I saw in the coffeeshops or at the cannbis cup. and to be fair, the cannabis cup is a complete joke. greenhouse won the cup again with supersilverhaze ??? WOW. just goes to show its all a dog and pony show.... every year its the same thing, yet I expect something different...hmmm sort of sounds like the definition of insanity....hehehe
anyways fellas. have a great day and be safe out there in the snow,

Its not Amsterdams fault that the dollar is weak, and the exchange rate sucks. I havent been in 10 years, but it seems weird that the quality would have gone down. The cannabis cup is not a complete joke, its one of the most fun things i have done. A lot of fun being a 21 year old college kid from NC and going to the cannabis cup. I learned a lot about growing organically in soil, with good genetics. I got to sample tons of weed that was way better than anything i was smoking in NC. And i met and took classes from some of the top growers in the world. Just being around all those breeders and growers was worth going to the cup. I would not be the connosuier i am today if i hadnt gone to the cup twice, and i would love to go back. Have you been to dampkring or grey area or katsu. They dont have good weed anymore? That is sad to hear
Greenhouse won with Lemon Haze, not Super Silver Haze.
I am excited to check out your dispensary and see if the medicine lives up to the hype. Better than the Cannabis Cup is a bold statement. I hope its true.

Well I was born and raised in California around many amazing growers, so honestly when I went to amsterdam, it really wasnt anything specail (herb wise) because honestly, some of the best weed in the world originates from califronia. and sorry to say but the cannabis cup is a joke. it is basically who ever throws the most money at the cup will win. which is basically why arjan (greenhouse) and derry (barneys) win the cup EVERY YEAR. and their weed is NOTHING special. not even close. and even though it SAYS super lemon haze, any one that has any experience with that strain and the ways of amsterdam will immediatly disregard the name change, becuase even if i hand no nose and no eyes, id still be able to identify that strain as SUPER SILVER HAZE. and whats even worst, is that strain is getting pumped all over the dam under diff names, mainly amnesia haze. i still love amsterdam, i just dont really care for the coffeeshop games.

If you think the coffeshop games are bad, wait untill you see what is going on in most of these dispensaries in Colorado. Ive seen a lot of shitty weed come from Cali too, and I get weed from my caregiver that blows Cali and Amsterdam out the water, so i know what you mean. I really dont care about the politics of who wins the cup. I just go to have fun, learn, and explore different cultures. I respect your opinion, and understand where you are coming from. I cant wait to see your medicine now. :rastasmoke:
I still think that Green House and Barneys have a lot better weed than the average dispensary , even though you think its "nothing special." What i got from Green House and Barney's blows away any dispesary ive been too so far. I will come back to this thread after i got to CCF and let you guys know if the quality lives up to the hype.

YO, Colorado Care MMJ, i just saw your grow threads over on ic, and you definatley know what you are talking about. Your pictures are amazing, and i can see why you are tired of the cannabis cup. You have no reason to go, you have everything you want in your house. Cant wait to try out some of your kush, and the white. I will stop in next time i come through Denver

Hehheh really im not trying to hype anything, and sometimes coffeeshops DO have some really amazing smoke (silver bubble from grey area:jointsmile:). I suppose I havent really had enough time to stop by any of the other places around colorado, so I really cant be the judge of the local quality, but I do enjoy meeting new people and we always try to maintain an even balance of indica dominant, sativa dominant, and indica sativa hybrids on our menu. Thanks for the kind words towards my cultivation, I have spent some time under the HPS's and at the moment all of our medication was personally cultivated from CCF's gardens.
Have a great day everyone and be careful out there in the snow,

First, I'd like to thank everyone for continuing to submit reviews and little tidbits of knowledge. Though I've had the good fortune to try quite a few high quality strains, I don't know much nearly as much about this plant as I would like to, and every piece of information you share helps me and the others who continue to read this thread.
I made a list of the dispensaries that got the best reviews on this thread with the intention of trying them out for myself. After perusing the websites of the places on my list, I started with Delta 9 because they say all their medicine is organic, and one of the strains featured on their site is Cinderella 99. I'm not sure the medicinal properties of C99, but it was one of the few locally grown strains I could find on the black market in Alabama, and it tastes fantastic (I liken it to a fruit medley, with peach being the dominant flavor). The didn't have any C99 in stock, but the 6-10 strains they did have all looked incredible. I had become accustomed to mostly tasteless, dry, crispy buds from the dispensaries, but these were not in that category. Another post in this thread says the tasteless buds are hydro vs. soil/bio, and that would make sense as Jeremy the budtender (and grower I think, I was a little confused that day on account of insomnia) pointed out that the strains I was inspecting were all organically soil-grown. He strongly recommended the Strawberry Kush, and for that I cannot thank him enough. Premium quality all around, from visual inspection, taste, smell, and most importantly effectiveness. Very calming and relaxing feel, but only couch-lock if you are already tired. I can stay motivated on it or unwind in the papasan as the situation requires. It burns to a gray ash, as it should. Jeremy was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, and I believe he is the grower responsible for the different Bruce Banner strains they carry, among others. Eighths are $55 for non-patients and $40 if you make them your CG, and quarters are $70-80 for their patients. I went back the next day and got some G13, which is a great couch-lock pain reliever for me. All of the buds at Delta 9 remind me of the homegrown goodness I would only find from growers at music festivals. The overwhelmingly potent smells will really surprise you if you are accustomed to the average dispensary bud, or what we call "commercial Cali" back in Alabama (which I now believe is hydro picked early and poorly trimmed and cured), the relatively bland, weak-smelling strains that you can tell would have been good if only a little love had been shown the plant. I have been so happy with Delta 9 that I haven't yet tried the other dispensaries on my list. I'm hoping to try some of their Bruce Banner soon, though I believe it sells out quickly.
I went to Amsterdam for a couple weeks back in 2004, and I found the quality to vary highly. Barney's, Grey Area, Dampkring, Blue Velvet, the Rokerij, and a couple others offered good buds, but with the exchange rate, it came out to be $50-70 an eighth, if memory serves me. You can find buds as good or better in America if you find a good grower. Some friends of mine went to a Cannabis Cup and made it sound like something that should definitely be experienced as a fun vacation/novelty. But marketing definitely helps separate the winners from the rest. They found it difficult to objectively judge, as they ended up with so many strains to judge. The winner that year was a strain called Willie Nelson, and Barney's definitely helped that one win by packaging it like an action figure or toy in a plastic bubble attached to a piece of glossy cardboard with Barney's and Willie Nelson prominently displayed on the packaging. While I would love to go back to Amsterdam and take part one year, I'm perfectly happy undertaking my own private Cannabis Cup here on Broadsterdam.
I plan to try out the Healing House soon so I can go upstairs and try something from their chef. A post in another forum mentioned a place near 14th and Broadway that is to be featured on the local news soon (if I didn't already miss it), and they are supposed to be like the coffeeshop/restaurant that just opened in Portland and made national news. Anyone have some info on this place? As I live in CapHill, I can walk to this place if it exists, and I'd love to write up a review for those who don't live as close but might be thinking about it.
Again, thank you very much everyone who continues to contribute. Reading others reviews and comments is often the highlight of my day.

If quality is more important to you than what strain it is, and you are unwilling or unable to grow your own, maybe you should try to find a caregiver to grow for you directly, instead of via a dispensary. While you won't (presumably) have as many strain choices, quality should be more consistent, and maybe the price will be more to your liking. I don't mind paying a little more to get what I know will be quality product, and have had very good experiences at Patient's Choice. The "guest" price the other day for their best strains was $58/8th, which is ok for quality, given the present market. I've now bought 4 different strains from them and every one was fire. I know lots of places to get meds for $40 or less, but it will still be in the shape of a brick. Might get some seeds to start your grow though.
I plan on growing my own eventually. I do have a caregiver that has been growing for me directly for 6 years, thats why I am so spoiled i guess. All these dispensaries ARE CAREGIVERS. They are in the MEDICAL business. They shouldnt be selling low quality medicine for outrageous prices. $58 for an eight is gouging. I dont see why dispensaries want to rip off customers who do not assign them as their caregivers. Your advice was good , but i am trying to get these dispensaries in line. And let some of the newer marijuana smokers know that they shouldnt be paying $60 .

I patronized the place I mentioned even though I grow my own, because I cannot afford the space or the time to grow all the strains I would like to try. Prior to the advent of "medical marijuana" (and the quotes are not indicative of doubt about the efficacy of marijuana as medicine but rather the sincerity of it's proponents, vis-a-vis legalization in toto) decent pot went for a minimum of $50 per 8th. Lets add a layer of profit takers, plus employees, taxes, now licenses, lawyers, etc., etc.,etc. You see where I'm going with this? I don't see where there is a huge profit in this business at this point unless the dispensaries are growing all their own product. Even then, the total uncertainty regarding the eventual legal climate is worth a lot, i.e. lets get all our money now while the getting is good. Can you honestly say you wouldn't do the same if you thought you might be out of business at any time, based on the whim of politicians? For the effort and $ I put into my grow, I would not accept less than $250/oz for my medicine, regardless of the buyer. If I sell to a dispensary at that price, what's a fair markup? You tell me.

I did a review for Ganja Gourmet, the new MMJ restaurant in town. Check it out here... The Denver Chronicle: Ganja Gourmet | Dispensary Reviews

People are going to talk about it. It's a legit dispensary for people in this part of town. I'm not driving all the way down I-25 to Lincoln Avenue at 4pm for weed (or some other far off place). I'm just not. So I gave C3 one more chance after reading they had been working on the presentation a bit.
You don't have the read it, ya know?

to whomever got the Master Perm, let me know what you think about it
Tastes bad to me. Smells bad to me. Gives me the munchies. Makes me tired. Not a very good buzz and did nothing for my pain. Buzz didn't even last that long. Found myself hitting the pipe again in an hour to kick in the buzz again. Was trying to get pain relief out of it, but never saw any real effect. Just ended up smoking more than I wanted too that night and gave myself a head ache. Glad I only got 1 gram. I think I flushed about 1/2g of it - whatever was left.
Overall impression: Epic Fail of 2009
But that's just my opinion and experience with it. Your mileage may vary...
I also tried some Euphoria. Pretty much the same impression as Master Perm - only the Euphoria was so harsh I about ripped my esophagus open with a coughing fit that lasted 3 or 4 minutes. I "disposed" of that to a friend who is also an MMJ registered patient but was broke at the time and couldn't afford any meds.
Back to the Maui. :stoned:
