LED growing- An instructional grow log

ok....day 58 flower...in response to my "slightly above average" resin production claim...I give you my lil 16in JH x BB, that will give me over an ounce easy count them, NINE tops!....I will leave it up to you guys to tell me if this is "average"...please let me know your opinions, I have been growing with JH for some years now, and have never seen resin like this...only off of VERY few special plants...imagine if I had the LEDs when they were around.....

never had to tie up a 16in plant before either...so much for sub par yeilds with LEDs as well as far as I am concerned....

I definitely notice you cant smell them barely at all...we havent even turned on the ozone generator yet... I believe its from the fact that the girls transpire (sweat) alot less under these lights, yes...from the lack of heat...thats the reason you water alot less as well....less heat, power, smell, bugs...more resin, decent yeild...well, Im sold...

sorry i stand corrected, your resin production matches my white strains under an hid ww wr. and there bred to look that way. you do have very nice resin production.

have you heard of icing the roots at harvest?
a buddy of mine said that he learned a trick from the grower at the dispensary that pushes the resins out.

how much longer look like 2-3 weeks from your pistols?

What's the theory behind this? Is this supposed to produce more resin since the plant is being stressed? And have you ever done a side by side comparison of nail driving and not driving nails?

I'd skip the nailing.

never did a comparison with w/out nial...just something i have always done, taught to me by an uncle who grew for YEARS, he did it to his outdoor plants...yeah opie, supposedly it stresses them into producing a lil more resin...dont know if it truely works, but it doesn't hurt either..we are only talking 3-4 days...

i have tryed different lighting and angles and no pic has ever done justice as to what the plant looks like in person so im sure they look much better in person.

i plan on getting a proc for my summer grows should really help with cooling cost since ill be having to bring my grow room indoors for temp purposes and maybe well get to see it on a white strain.

my buddy said he gets a five gallon bucket fills it with ice and a lil water and stirs it till it gets really cold and and flushes his soiless evry ten minutes or so just before he pulls, and it takes him about an hour, but he says the cold contricts the roots and forces out all the resins, says yuo can actually see it happen, i havnt tried it but plan to at next harvest.

Type compact sog with cfl in google then hit im feeling lucky it wont let me rep u so i give it to u this way. Figure if i post the link it will get removed.

I just wanted to say I read back a little and wanted to add that the nail job does work, I have done side by side between 9 plants, I wont get into details on the control group is of 3 x 3 x 3 and at different stages each but at the time of harvest only 3 had a nail in the base of ea.(1 plant ea.) control group and did show better results.

What do you mean "you can see it happen"? Do you see roots getting smaller or resin oozing out of bud sites, or what? I remain skeptical on this one. Again, you really would need a side by side comparison to see if it works. Did your buddy do this or hear about it being done? Has anyone else done this, or heard that it works? I don't understand how constricting roots will squeeze out resin. As far as I know there is no resin in the roots, or even inside the plant, and I don't think a plant really makes a lot of resin in one hour. Anyone?

This kinda makes me angry. I don't understand why someone would neg rep you after you simply show us what you are doing with LEDs. Wow. I still am skeptical, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try it on a couple plants and compare for myself.

I've just always thought that anything you do to a plant that causes stress is detrimental to development. Seems like if I had a spike shoved through my abdomen it would be somewhat stressful.

it should be stressful...do it the last 3 days opie...but if you just fed, it will suck ALOT of water up into the plant...longer drying time...

How can you tell if a plant has produced more resin than it would have if you did not nail the stem ?
I believe you can not compare one plant to another as no two plants are the same, they are individual's for example no two plants have the same amount of resin, buds, or even give the yield.

anyway, being that i have seen JH for years, even more so, my JH that i have been tweaking, I know that its more...and you cant really tell for minute differences, but this isnt minute, so i can REALLY tell...lol I still dont have a SOLID theory as to why LEDs produce more resin, but I am definitely not the only one to notice it, hell, high times even said something about it. But like them, i dont know why, and I am not gonna spew my theories, because thats all they are now...thanks for your interest!!!

I agree with the ideas that "spiking" your plants in the last 3 or 4 days would increase resin production. It is proven that stressing your plants produces more resin, but it typically reduces the overall harvest weight. If you "spike" them a few days before harvest, you're not sacrificing any weight (the buds are already full grown) but you are inducing the plant to produce more resin.

As far as icing the roots goes, i believe that the liquid in the roots might be pushed into the plant, but the truth is that the roots don't have any THC in them. It might increase your harvest weight a little bit, but it's not going to make your buds any more potent.

Actually two plants are exactly the same if they are clones from the same mother. There are many things that can affect the development of identical clones however. That's why the scientific community usually recommends that for horticultural comparisons to be accurate you need about 50 identical clones in each group. A personal experience cannot be wrong, so if someone tells me he's worked with a strain for years, then tried something different that produced different results, I have to believe them until I see reason not to.

you saw that opie?....lol, i start drying by using a leader and swivel weight, hanging the whole plant...in case it spins a lil in the breeze, then after a few days..when the outside of the nugs are dry, i clip branches ang go coat hanger style:jointsmile:....the little clips even clip to the hanger too!! get em at the wal mart for like3 bucks a dz...

redline...5 plants under 2 ft....about 90g total...i would definitely say comparable to a 600HPS...IMHO,,,, g/w/month will be better measured next grow...didnt want to sacrifice too many plants to experimentation...lol, now i know i can fill the closet with the 3 procyons...

wow......definitely a good med here... the nug kept most of the JH traits as far as the high goes....but after a nice 2hrs of a soaring cerebral high...the BB kicks in and a mad dash to the fridge is next...followed by a nice nap...My wife, Db, and I toked 2 bowls this morning....and didnt feel the need to rip another for about 3 1/2 hrs...good shit man...cant give ya too much on the taste, not cured..this sample is just 4 days dry...still overpowering..almost like a lavender/melon kinda taste...and quite smooth...I am sure it will only get better with curing...
