of Kushettes kid.....whenever you get the chance give us some pics ......toss them in this thread and brighten things up. ;)
Actually I have 2 Strawberry Cough in DWC hydro, 2 GDP (Grand Daddy Purple) in hydro, and 7 12 inch GDPs in hempy buckets as I'm working 5-1/2 to 6 days a week. Years ago I had a drip system watering hempies before they were called hempy buckets. Now I water them manually every 2 days and they are growing like weeds (imagine that!)...
Yeah, I know you are kidding Hound. Just saying hello as I watch a movie and check out your thread and Rock's and a few others. At any rate Hempy is in addition to hydro, not in place of them.
Chop comes in 3 weeks or so, wish I had time for pics and a grow log but not likely for a while. Maybe I'll hijack your log with some GDP shots in a few weeks... :smokin:
Please do...would love to see some pics.
Thank you for finding that for me. I didn't read the whole thing yet, but in that thread is link to another one by stinky. She gives a few reasons for transplanting, much of which doesn't apply to me at this point. The thing that makes the most sense to me is this:Quote:

But I'm still not sure I even understand that. I guess the plant shifts more energy into foliage, since it realizes that more root production would be useless (pretty smart of it IMO)? Or perhaps when space in the container gets tight, it's just easier to make foliage than roots. Am I anywhere close?
I hope you don't mind, I'm just kinda spewing. Don't mean to hijack your thread. I am very pleased to hear that your new project is doing better. The way you're describing things makes me really want to follow along. It's almost like I'm on the edge of my seat, reading a good mystery novel or something. Will they survive? If so, how? Who killed the 2 departed ones, and what was the motive? What are they're day to day lives like? Where do they live? Any love interests or arranged marriages in the possible future for the young girls? I am thrilled to hear that we will soon be seeing pictures of the protagonists. And did I mention that I'm very happy that they're doing better?
Hey I grow AK too, and I've never really noticed much of a scent on them until well into budding. It just goes to show that thing I saw on Discovery channel was right. It said men and women are different, and each sex does some things better than the other (what? really?). One thing women do much better is smell, and I don't mean the scent coming off of them. In general, women have a much better sense of smell. If it helps at all guys, we have a better sense of spacial relationships.Quote:

That sucks she quit on you. I hope I'm not being too much of a pest, but my brain still aint 100% wrapped around it. Please, if you will:Quote:

3) How long did you soak it for, and how, paper towel method? and in what water? ie. does PH matter, B1, moose droppings or anything?
4) Should it just be soaked at room temperature?
5) Have you ever tried not screwing with it? I've had the best luck with seeds simply planting them in dirt and keeping them warm and moist (like 78F).
6) If you've only got one seed that you suspect may be a problem, exactly what steps would you take to ensure it has the absolute best chance at survival? I'm guessing just planting it in dirt probably doesn't rank high on your list of options. So I should scuff it, soak it until it cracks, then what? Then put it in dirt, flood it with PH 6.8 water with a little B1, keep it warm and moist and wait? Or is a 50/50 mix of perlite/vermiculite more safe? Rapid Rooters? Please don't say peat or rockwool.
Again sorry, feel free to answer some, all, or none. I've never messed with my seeds much, and want you to take the time to share your knowledge and experience, instead of me taking the time to search and read, just like a noob. No offense, anyone.
I wanna know more about the seed thing too, it's been about 12 years since I have popped any beans. I plan to put some 150 grit in a matchbox and shake the beans lightly then........ uh...... figure out the rest based upon what I read here.
Hey Opie, hope you are still enjoying the avatar. It still cracks me up so it is staying for a while longer.
Well, 620am here gotta run to work..... :wtf:
MVP
Opie ordinarily I stick them in the top of the RR hole (already made) and use my well water (ph in the sixes) and they just pop and grow. With the bad seeds my scenario went like this:
plant ASH and Church seed in RR's....add water.
4 days later ASH is up, tap root through bottom.....ready to plant. Plant ASH. Wait longer for church seed.....zero.
After a week I crack rr open....seed bounces around on the floor because it's hard as a rock.
Put seed BACK in rr.....plant SECOND SEED (snl x nh)
3 days later.....SNL x NH has cracked and begun to show. Nothing from seed one. Still closed. Plant SNL x NH.
Wait several more days....dump seed and start number 2.
Pretty much same scenario for seed number 2 (and i DO MEAN number 2....:wtf:) except now alongside it is a CC seed......5 days.....blah blah plant CC seed. Check church seed... WET...but won't crack. Wait several more days....nothing.
Try to "gently" crack seed and end up MASHING it ......put it back for a few days but it's basically stepped on.
SEED NUMBER 3........take nail file and gently scrape the outside of the seed.....I liked Opie's "taking the shine off" example....that's about right. My understanding is you want to "thin" the shell so the water gets in and the seed pops. It didn't take much scraping on my part and then I could actually see a bit of "white" showing through and I stopped there. Place seed in RR and wait.
3-4 days....check seed carefully...all wet and swollen but shell hasn't quite cracked (but is so soft it's flexible). Put seed back.
More days pass.....take seed out....exactly the same.......pop one shell off (very easy...came right off without a prob) Put seed back.
Pray alot and do a rain dance around it.....counterclockwise (image reaper does this dance naked .....I dont :wtf:)
Wait three more days....crack RR....very small taproot starting....the only change in three days.
Wait three more days. Exactly the same.
Burn it.
MVP on reflection I think you're better off just takin your sandpaper and rubbing the seed gently and that should work for you.
