Of course, neither of them can prove or disprove anything
I disagree. "god" is testable. Pick a deity, define it, and put it in empirical trial. For instance, the Christian god clearly doesn't exist and same with Thor, Ra, and the thousands of Hindu gods. Of course, then, you might counter-argue in favor for an ambiguous, panatheistic, "everything is god" "the universe is god" perspective which commonly is attributed to Einstein's sense of the word. If so, then you really wouldn't be saying anything at all. Most people don't actually believe in god, they believe in believing in god, they only use the word as protective coloration, as Steven Weinberg was fond of saying.

i love all the nihilistic people, it really is sad that they're are some people who think they can try to put reason into something that is higher than reason. All there is to it is..............God is real............ thats it....it says that u cant put logic with it, because logic is a human characteristic.......if u can put anything in faith, this would be it, becuase there will never be any explanation for it.

God does not exist, if he did, he'd have the sense to turn people away from things that he denotes from doing in the bible... he is all powerful according to the bible, right?

Why does logic immediately equal nihilism? I know this probably won't change your mind about anything because, let's face it, these threads never do, but faith is just a human quality as logic. Here in America, faith is more present in humans than logic, anyways. God himself almost always has human characterstics, either in physicality, personality, and emotions. Satan too for that matter.
I think this whole religious debate stuff is actually an argument about logic vs. faith. I think even the most religious people have strong doubts about God. I know I did, even when I was religious. But if faith is seen as more important than logic, it doesn't seem to matter. Everything we know about God is just an idea...cause God certainly hasn't come down from the heavens and decreed anything yet. I'm waiting.

What I dont get is why sceptics always feel the need to argue with believers..if you dont believe then why do you have to get in the way of those with faith? Why are you even on the "SPIRITUALITY" section if you dont believe? It doesnt make sence, but one thing is for sure theres some self-ego stroking going on with the sceptics here, its pretty pathetic. If you want to learn truth, go for it, if you dont then your just part of another's test.
I have seen many sceptics turn into believers, I have never seen a believer turn into a sceptic. I believe it is the believers that have no proof that sceptics dont like..but to me they really are the same type of people.

it makes 'sence' because religion is a fucked up lie which constantly causes destruction, and they're just trying to help. ha.

I love arguing about spirituality, as long as it's a good hearted argument and not filled with insults and the like. The need exists because it opens up dialogue, and dialogue is generally a way of entertainment and enlightenment. No one ever requires you to reply if it against your wishes.

I'm not a politician, but I do enjoy the politics board. I post in sexuality and relationships, even when I get dumped and I'm not getting laid, sometimes even in women's issues, and I'm a guy!

Many skeptics start out as believers, myself included. So if you're just commenting on what you'ev observed, that's fine, but if you're applying an observation to society as a whole, that's a different matter.
