Shov's Afghani x BOG Medley Spring Grow
Here are the three six week old bagseed plants. Just like the Afghani, they have some monster fan leaves as well as totally perverted top knots from the FIM. Thay are all really healthy though, only problem would be the occasional lamp burn.
[attachment=o129571]
Here are a few of the Afghani at eight weeks (the side lamps are shut off for the photo).
[attachment=o129572]
Here are all the plants huddled together. I hope they start to show sex soon, I'd like to remove the males and space them out a bit.
[attachment=o129573]
After 5+ days the clones are not doing so great. I have 4 that look fine and the rest failed. I'll have to try something much different next attempt.
Other early spring seedlings are doing great are Sweet Basil and Curley Parsley. Also, I had to put (5) Eastern Hemlock plants in a windowbox for now as it's snowing to beat the band here. :P

I decided to go to 12/12. The plants have not shown sex and they are very crowded.
I changed the lamps to 3000K and fed the plants molasses, P/K suppliment, Fish/Kelp food and TopMax.

First male to show was a bagseed. So it got cut. Three others (Afghani) showed female. Many others are close to showing, I must check them every day now.
Grow area is flooding, I'm pumping out 4-6 times a day now.
Fed 'em molasses, P/K suppliment, Fish/Kelp food and TopMax again.

hopefully you'll have a good female/male ratio, shov..plants look happy in the pics :thumbsup:
Flooding? That doesn't sound good..
I'm 3 1/2 week into flower now with my blueberry's..they're doing pretty good :)
Enjoy your third rep block :)

Thank you, Markass. The flooding is an annual event pretty much. It could be fixed if I had the money. But, so far pumping it out every spring has worked ok.
I see your grow is doing quite well for a modest setup, (much like my own grow). I've never smoked BBerry (heard that it's great, they sing songs about it!) , or most other exotics. Maybe someday...
The rep block and the little quote is interesting, but I really haven't figured out how that works really. I try to mark some "reps" but it seems that I've already "repped" everybody <G>.
I'll post some pics next weekend, hopefully most will be sexed by then. I'd like to keep one Afghani male to get some seeds.
Regards!

As for reputation...I guess it's basically just a way of saying good job..Yeah, you've gotta spread it out though, can't give it to the same people too often..I'll be waiting for the pic update :thumbsup:

Hey, Shov. Plants looking good. Nice and bushy. That flooding thing sounds like a bane, for sure. Must not help with your humidity in flowering. Hope all is well. Looking forward to flowering pics. Congrats on the three Afghani ladies. If they are what I think they are, I'm looking forward to seeing how they turn out.
Be cool, Shov.

Ya know what? I've had some control problems with this wild weather, the flooding, the power outages.....so I check my plants two days ago and see that they lights are not on, so I reset the timer. I guess I got it wrong because today I check...and the lights are off again. I was still about 6 hours off on my timer. Doh!
Third's the charm, I hope. <G>

After two weeks of 12-12 all the plants have preflowered.
There are six Afghani fems and one bagseed fem crowded into the grow area.
I have two males segregated for now to polinate the designated "seed bearer"

So far, I'm only lighting with 344 watts of flourescent lighting. I don't know how well it will see me through flowering.

344w total of CFL bulb? Isn't that like equivalent to 3000w spectrum?

Nice looking plants, Shov. Looks like a friggin' dungeon down there, though. They might feel that they are being punished. LOL

What does this mean? Are you asking if his CFLs are all 3000K spectrum? I'm not sure I comprehend this post. Am I the only one? :what:

Shov's Afghani x BOG Medley Spring Grow
I am using no CFLs at all on these plants, only 4' T-8 (4) and T-5 tubes (4).
For flowering I'm using the 3000K lamps...for veg I used 5000K lamps.

At week eleven (started 12-12 a couple of weeks ago)
so, the sex ratio ended up as...
Bagseed (broad leaf indica) (2) fem, (1) male
Afghani X Bog Medley (5 fems, (3) male
So, I have six fems under the lights and the two "lovers" in a honeymoon suite.
So how's that?

Heya Shov, I've got some good news for you...
That Af X BOG... the one I'm running right now, from the same seed crop, at approximately one week left to harvest, she is turning a deep rich maroon color. Temps are not dropping below 68 either. This is under pretty standard growing conditions. The bud leaves have rich purple undersides and the buds themselves are starting to show a nice tint too. I absolutely for SURE plan to reveg this plant as a mother, as I'm extremely happy with this pheno in terms of bud density, vigor, smell, cola size, plant structure, and now COLOR too!
She's a great candidate for playing with temperature or that purple stuff.
Stopping by the post office tomorrow AM w/goodies.

Here's a pair of those plants that I'm going to polinate for seed stock.
[attachment=o133046]
These have maybe six weeks to go. Temps have been pretty cool this Spring, usually around 60-62°. The plants are doing pretty well though.
Thanks, shtinky

I polinated each day for 4-5 days, I'd knock the male flower open into a (Stonedware) shot glass and use an artist brush to put the pollen from the glass to the female pistals. After a few hours from the last blast I washed and dried the plant good and dry overnight befor joining the hen house. The male stooge gets his neck wrung and buried in the shtt pit. <G>

Actually, these two are Bagseed plants that look just like the Afghani Xs.
All the plants are doing very well. The only glitch was a little nutes got spilt on some fan leaves and I cut away the burned parts.
[attachment=o134524]
These next two photos are Afghani Xs.

This last photo is an Afghani X seed plant.

I'm still using Neptune kelp/fish emusion, K/P capsules (desolved, of course), molasses and TopMax.
Another 4-6 weeks...

Sorry for the long delay in posting. I've been on holiday in the Virgin Islands. : ) The grow had a plant-sitter, but none of the feeding and attention I give them. (How do you fuck up watering? By letting the water hollow out the soil around the stem down to the roots.) Anyway, they are looking great, as soon as they dry up a bit I'll give them a little nutes.
Well, here is a shitty pic of an afghani (left) and bagseed (right). The photo does not show a small fraction of the buds growing on that afghan. I'll get to more, better pics later this week.

Stocky little girl, eh?
Sorry about the spring seeds Shov... things have been pretty screwy around here lately, not that it's much of an excuse. I'll make it up to ya next time I heap up to the Northeast Kingdom.

No problems without the sativa seeds. Someday I'd like to try someting different but I'll keep growing this season no matter.
I fed and tried to open up the plants to light this am. I did manage to split a heavy cola. I just pushed it back into the middle for now. I'll tie-rap it to another stem for support later.
Yesterday we tried some buds I removed a few weeks ago when they got lamp burned. It's got a great stone already, but the flavor was a bit harsh.
Eva ting's gonna be alright.

It's getting close to harvest time, only molasses for nutes this week and next. Then flush.

I checked the bagseed and the hybrid plants and all have 100% clear tricomes and are still growing new hairy buds, so I figure it may be a couple of more weeks until harvest. I was planing on not giving them any more nutes this week and for the rest of the time, but does anyone else have an idea about this? Would the last three weeks without nutes be ok?
I'll get a cola pic later this week. : )

Here's another pic of an AfghaniX. It's over two feet wide and many of the colas have collapsed into the plant from their weight! That top in the center of the plant is one heavy branch! There are others laying towards the back.
The flash (second pic) really distorts the tricomes and pistals.

-
Shov's Afghani x BOG Medley Spring Grow
Well, I'ts going to be at least one week before any of these buds will be ready for harvest. I checked this morning and at 226 days ( a little over 16 weeks, eight weeks of flowering), I see all clear trics and a couple, three cloudy ones. <G>
So I cut two little branches and I'm drying them to see wtf is up. The bagseed plants are still growing and budding. They had two weeks less vegging.

Things look good, bummer that the wait has to be a smidgen longer...silly plants, do you think that they know you want to smoke them? lol....they're trying to hold off the enevitable...!
Did you loose your four good clones while your were lapping up the sun in the V.I.s?

I put it into darkness this morning and will hang it to dry tomorrow night. I polinated it around five and a half weeks ago and it is looking very nice indeed. It is a Foxy Seed Afghani hybrid. I think it should be good smoke too. I'll post a photo when I trim it tomorrow.
