2 amateurs armed with bag seed and a closet

Hi all,

Yesterday the fat man got me really stoned on some juicy fruit and I went to sleep around 9pm! :bong: Ha ha, kind of sad. I was too burnt to post anything so here is yesterday's news mixed with this morning's. :)

Today is the last day in the 4th week of flower, day 55/28. Tomorrow they'll be 8 weeks old. Well Betty's a few days older than that that's why she's ahead for now. She's got some competition now though!

Betty's the biggest plant at 24"' but she's still pretty unhappy. Mid-upper fan leaves keep yellowing, stems are still red (not fading, it was all in my head) and now some of her little leaves near the top are curling. She got a little water with some bloom nutes, karma, thrive alive, and molasses yesterday so we'll see if she reacts to that at all. So far today I don't really see a change. :( Poor girl. Anyone have any ideas of what's wrong with her? She's still hovering around 24", not growing taller at all. Her buds are growing, but she's definitely slowed down.

The other 2 look great, except for the fact Lucy has gone hermie on us. She's still stretching like mad, over 23" now and almost caught up to Betty in height. She's pretty sparse compared to Betty & Mercedes. No more male flowers visible yet though. :thumbsup:

Mercedes is the trained plant w/ over 3 tops. She's doing the best of the 3 right now. Not really growing up much but she is becoming pretty bushy and if we can't help Betty soon Mercedes might be our biggest yielder! Just have to wait...

I put one of the clones down today. It wasn't taking root and the stem was just turning brown and rotting so out it went. It must've been pretty waterlogged because the others are at least growing roots, even if they don't look that awesome up top. In this pic from yesterday you can see it in the back right corner, you can sort of see the stem's brown colour.

Every morning at 7am when the lights come on I get up, open the cabinet doors and prop the fan in front of it to keep the temp reasonable. Have I mentioned that I can't wait for that cool tube to arrive?! :D

PICS! :) First are the clones, then 2 of all 3 girls, and 2 of Mercedes. More in the next post... Oh and I've resized them so they're a little smaller now. If anyone wants the huge pics I can post those but my camera sucks and they don't look good anyway.

More pics, ok here is one of Betty. See those curling leaves she has? Because of the light it's hard to see the yellowing in other pics of her but that curling can't be good. Too dry and/or hot? I have no idea. I'm trying to keep the humidity high but it's usually around 15-25% so I know that's not optimal. Temps should be ok though, they're 25-28 C (77-83 F) in the day so that should be perfect. At night they don't go below 21 or 22 C. Any ideas?! :confused:

Anyway the next 2 are Lucy and Mercedes, respectively, and finally one of the whole setup. The fan up on my bed like that blowing right on the light keeps the temp around 25 C but most of the time it's on the floor and the temp is 26-27 C. The other 2 girls look ok so maybe temp/humidity has nothing to do with it at all.

Hey everyone,

I have pics from Jan-11 till today. Betty looked really bad and she was a hermie, so she got chopped and is going to make some nice oil sometime. :( The branches with male flowers were the ones we cloned during flower... hmm, guess what they say is true! Wish I read that before we did it, but I often learn the hard way.

The other 2 girls look great. I haven't spotted any more male flowers on Lucy so maybe I'm not looking hard enough. Nah I think she's alright for the most part. She's about 24 1/2" now.

Just waiting... my cool tube is in the mail, it'll be here by Wednesday but I'm hoping it'll be here before then. :D

The clones are doing alright. Some of them don't seem to be rooting but a couple of the smaller ones are kicking ass! I think I might give them some B-1 soon. In a few days to a week I'll probably plant them in some soil.

3) Fri Jan 12, day 56/29: Betty getting flushed but her soil's too compact and it's sloooow. :( The top where it's less compact was like soup and she was leaning everywhere.

4&5) Sat Jan 13, day 57/30: Betty doesn't look any better... and she was a hermie, so I chopped her down.

1) Betty upside down
2) Betty's poor little buds. I wouldn't say more than 1g dry.
3) Leaves & stalks.
4) Most of Betty.

4) A jar of iso & Betty... I ran out of iso! I need to get some more and when the rest of her is dry I'll add it in. I might try and save this in my freezer till later because it's not going to yield much at all from just Betty.

Not a lot to say right now. Starting to see trichomes on some bud sites. :D Looks like they might be a little frosty. I have to get a better camera, but that probably won't happen because I spent all my cash on this already! :jointsmile:

3-5) Mercedes, she's looking really nice. Dense nodes, very green, starting to smell really pungent and nice! I need that cool tube so I can close the cab before it gets danker. :D

The clones. Some are faring better than others. :) The second pic is this little girl with a root trying really hard to reach some water. Go! Go! She's doing well and I think in a day or two she'll make it.

If anyone have any idea what problem(s) Betty had you could save a future plant's life if you give me some tips! ;) :confused:

Thanks gerbom. :) I think we burned them a little with the last feeding. Well, Lucy looks slightly burnt but Mercedes looks good. Mercedes is a cool plant! :jointsmile:

There was a clone ready to go into the dirt so I planted it and moved it outside of the dome today. Another one that I planted a little early also got moved outside the dome, she's probably ready. There's one or two more that I think may show some roots in the next few days. I couldn't bring myself to throw out the Betty clones (most of them are Betty #2s) even though she went hermie. I think bcchronic wants them and until he takes them or decides not to I may as well grow the cute little bitches. I might keep one or two and flower them in the end if I get attached. :D

The smaller ones seemed to have survived best, maybe because the bigger ones were further along in flowering. I'm not sure why but the big ones don't seem to be doing too well. Maybe we should just wait longer but they're starting to look pretty yellow with dark, dark purple stems and even the stalks.

I couldn't get any good pics of the roots coming out of the rockwool but I'm sure most of you have seen many roots before. :) I did snap one of the new girl in dirt so later when I get some pics of the flowering girls I'll post them all.

Yeah the heat sucks! But with the cab open and the fan it's a nice temp. The cool tube is supposed to be delivered today, but I was out for a bit so maybe I missed the guy or something because it's 5pm and no sign of him yet. If you have any clues about Betty that'd be awesome. I think she had a couple problems! :(

Update on the girls: An hour ago Lucy was 24 3/4" and Mercedes was 17 3/4". More trichs! :dance: Especially on Lucy. Still looking good, growing a little and the buds are starting to fatten up nicely. :D

The clones that are doing well are doing well. :) The others, well they're pretty much goners but a few are still kicking around in the dome for now. I say we have 4-6 good clones and half of those are really good.

Today me and bcchronic were busy going to Home Depot and getting stuff together for the veg cab. He brought over a bunch of special cookies in the morning and we ate 4 of those each. :clap: Ok so the cab has 6x 27W daylight CFLs in it. That's 162W of 5500K or 6500K goodness, over 10,000 lumens. That should be plenty, right?

We mylar'd the inside, put up the lights and that's about it. It gets up to 30 C in there so it's ok but a little on the hot side. I need a better fan than the 80mm computer fan that's in there now. Hopefully the new one won't have blue LEDs in it either so at night it can be darker. ;) I could take the LEDs out, but fuck it.

I might put a soft white CFL or two down the side of the flower cab once that cool tube gets here. Tomorrow I should be able to get all that done! I hope I can get it done anyway. There's a nice spot on Mercedes where one CFL could be a couple inches from 5-6 of her nice branches. :thumbsup:

I got some more iso today and since we didn't have any smoke the fat man thought we should just make that oil. He had to go somewhere for a little while so I cooked it while he was gone. Tried a little and it didn't do much bet we'll smoke it all, he's on his way over now. :bong: The cookies did their job but we ate them over 6 hours ago. I just did a stover with some oil and I got a little buzz. Doesn't last long at all though.

Off-topic: Stovers are where you put a drop of oil on a pin, get your electric stove element hot and then drip some oil on it. Be ready with an empty pen tube or paper towel roll to suck up the white smoke! :rastasmoke: I love oil, so many ways to smoke it! :D

Got side-tracked yesterday and didn't manage to post this update or any pics. Here's what I started to write yesterday, I'll be back with pics and all that later!

If this had happened to someone else I can hear myself now, "What kind of moron would order a big-ass cool tube for a tiny cab and not ask how big it is?!" ... Well, apparently I am exactly that kind of moron. :) All the smaller 6" tubes are mostly 19-24" long, especially in my price range. So why bother ask what length it is? It'll just fit! Ha ha ha. If only I were a moron that fortunate.

I picked up the tube today and it's just over 31" long. My cab is just over 28" wide on the inside. WTF am I going to do now?

Buy a bigger cab? Can't afford it.

Cut/saw a few inches off the tube? Don't have the tools and don't want to fuck with the tube.

Let the end of the tube stick out the side a few inches and cover the hole at the back? This would've been a winner, but again I lack the proper tools.

SHIT SHIT SHIT!

I wasn't about to go back to the closet, especially since the girls are starting to put out a really pungent odour and I have that scrubber on my cab already. So what I finally did is stick the tube in on an angle. I'll have to get some pics up later so you can see how it er, fits. Yeah, sure we'll just pretend it fits. :) I can't adjust its height now which is quite lame, but hey at least I can close the door. I'm happy enough for now till I can plug the gaping hole at the back where I chopped the cab up.

Heh, yeah no kidding eh? I should've measured even once... ah well hindsight and all that. I'll get on that update in a minute while I have some coffee. For now here are pics of the wedged-in tube. It's been patched up with foil tape and a dark t-shirt since these pics. The second pic looks crazy but it's a view from below. The door closes but I think I can do better on positioning today.

Today I fed the big girls and clones. Zee clones are supposed to get 1/4 strength nutes but I gave 2-3 of them 1/2 strength by mistake. Hope they're ok! Two of them have pistils in their new growth so I hope they can revert to veg without too much stress. The other 3 are smaller and seem to be vegging nicely. :D

First 2 are the girls, same as usual. Then Lucy... almost the same as usual but with better shots of the trichs this time! I think I found out how to really use the macro thing now. :jointsmile:

One of Lucy and then 4 of Mercedes... I'm 70% sure the last one is Mercedes but I could be wrong. Clones are up next... :jointsmile:

First is all the clones. They look pretty happy. :) Then there's Jane, one of the clones with pistils because we cut them 2 weeks into flower. Next is a close up of the pistils. Then we have Wendy and Oprah respectively. :jointsmile:

Here are Wilma and Veronica. Veronica is the other slutty clone with pistils. You can barely spot them in that photo. That's it for yesterday, day 61/34 for the big girls and day 20 for the clones.

Oh yeah, almost forgot! Here's a pic of what I know as a pud of nasty bong bowl oil. Oh well, it got me baked and I still have lots left. :D

I should have today's stuff up later but I'm not making any promises this time. ;)

This ends week 5 of flower for the big girls, and week 3 for the little clones.

The upwards growth seems to be slowing. Lucy's at 25 1/4" and Mercedes is just over 19" at her highest point. Energy seems to be going to the buds judging from the scent change. It's getting really fruity and to me it smells like mango. I wouldn't be upset if it were Somango or something. :)

Bring in zee clones!!!

The clones need water every couple days which is awesome. They look great. I topped Jane today. She's at the 4th node or so and looks fine... except for a purple stalk. :( Jane was topped and started training. Veronica is a guinea pig for some NST (No Stress Training) that I read about on icmag.

I moved the clones so they each have their own light today, except I moved them together for the group pic. I had to top Jane (one of the ones with pistils) and tie her up! She was around the 4th node or so.

It's pretty hot with 6x 27W CFLs in there!

I read about NST (no stress training) so I decided to try it out. I have no idea how it works past the first part, but I'll figure that out when the time comes. You just lay the plant on its side and it bends up. But then the next time you want to bend it how do you prevent certain parts from bending? You tie them I guess. I sort of doubt whether this is less stressful than LST but it's fun to try it anyway. :)

Lucy and Mercedes have definitely slowed down. They're around 25 1/2" and 19 1/2" respectively. That must mean all their focus is on producing FAT BUDS! :rastasmoke: :dance:

Today I gave both girls straight water. The run off's pH was 5.6-5.8 so that's good. Mercedes just isn't fattening up like Lucy but she still looks like she'll yield more. They look great and Lucy seemed to like the plain water. There's not much to say, which is a good thing I think. :D

The clones are doing great. They have 5+ nodes and are growing really quickly and keeping stout. bcchronic started training Oprah today. Veronica is the clone I'm trying that No Stress Training on. She was fully bent up towards the light so I flipped her over so she faces the ground. This way the nodes underneath are now on the top and I think I'm starting to see how this could work without tying anything. Jane barely flinched at the topping and her limbs are starting to grow pretty quick. :thumbsup:

The clones are more fun than the big girls these days. :) Here are 2 pics of both girls, 2 of Mercedes and 1 of Lucy.
