Have to agree that a "Skull" gives out the wrong vibe for a cannabis site...Quote:

 I wish I were as gifted at getting a point across, without ruffling feathers as you are, Stormie  ... you absolutely are on top of this, and naturally, I couldn't agree more  ... btw, do you still visit TY ? ... it seems pretty slow over there lately ... :smokin:Quote:

eNuff about the logo already, its just one piece of artwork in a line of many pieces that will be done.
and for all these submisions, yea, they look nice, but unless someone wants to work on the vector source files we wont use em.
so, this is just the beginning ? .... :confused:Quote:

It's worse than judging a book by its cover.. it's like saying that this little skull is going to destroy everything anyone has worked towards in terms of decriminalization.
Ya..
Right!

Bob.
thank you for clarification ... I say goodbye to you, and cannabis.com ... this website is obviously going in a direction I am not comfortable with, I have always thought of myself as a mature "conscience of cannabis.com", if you can understand ... I wish no one any ill will, ... I will go elsewhere ... good luck and best wishes to all, Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas ...
And a happy new year :dance:Quote:

They're the single most important "faces" companies of all types present to the public in representing their images and attitudes. Whether or not you believe this is true, they do provoke immediate, almost subliminal responses, and that's why Image was lobbying for a more positive one here, I'm sure.
That all being said, obviously, the owners of the site have done--and will continue to do--precisely what they want. I'm quite at peace with that. What is much more grievous to me is the loss of an adult gentleman whose courtesy and contributions made these boards a better place to be for everyone.
Vaya con Dios, Image Reaper, and a very happy holiday season to you, too!
What you say is true in a Logo as you see the stir it caused here... first impressions are very important...Quote:

And if the owners of this site are "taking it in a new direction",, they obviously
don't care how many more members they loose in the process!!!
Were not trying to tell ya how to run the house,, people are merely
posting Feedback albeit negative. . . .
Have a good one!
lil bit of skulls never a bad thing .
deal w/ it
You work in advertising/creative, too, right Skink? That's what I did for nearly 20 years in corporate America before going back to school this past fall (I was the writing half of the creative team, partnered with designers). What used to amaze me was how many millions of dollars ad agencies made for logo work alone. I honestly think the company I used to work for quite literally paid for our ad agency's building just with the billiable hours for logo work and focus testing alone. It's a bit of a racquet, really, when you think about it. But the stakes are a lot higher, and the responses much more critical, than most folks realize.
i used to drop a friend off on friday nights at oakland co. jail so he could serve weekends n he'd smuggle weed in n puff in holding tanks all weekend . no wonder he was in jail huh ?
peace
it was directed at him, he made his choice and he decided to leave. it was all on him. i told him there would be more artwork in the pipeline. so the mature gentleman leaves. i listened to the feedback and i understand some dont like the skull. but deal with it. really! it cant be switched over right away and the next piece of artwork wont be for a little bit while. so thats that.
and its been mentioned countless times, we are partnering with a new upcoming website focused on the medical cannabis/co-op side of things
Easy there, NoTech. I have to disagree with you here, and I'll tell you why. I think Sundance has been very tolerant in listening to feedback, actually, and that the owners know full well that nothing's going to make everyone happy. Nothing ever does, in case you don't know that yet. They're treading the very fine line between appealng to future members, who are, no matter whether everyone likes it or not, the younger crowd, and pleasing some of the older ones, too. It's a slippery slope, both from an online marketing perspective and from the perspective of foisting change upon some of the more change-resistant types. It's real important that everyone realizes that, at the end of the day, listening to feedback and actually incorporating that feedback are two very distinct things. And at the end of the day, the owners of the site still retain the power to make the final bottom-line decision. I don't say this to play devil's advocate. I say this because I'm a realist who recognizes someone else's ultimate decision when I see it.Quote:

Glad to hear you stayed at a Holiday Inn last night, however. So you're saying you do choose brands, then, even if you don't work in the marketing field???

But i will have to agree to disagree with you on your point about recognizing
someone else's decision. After all,, the feedback and suggestions area is for
that exactly.
And some people may take the negative comments about the
logo as worthless muttering,, but the reality is,, and you said it yourself,, that
first impressions matter to most people. But as i've already said,, and
now sundance has said it,, it's not going to change anytime soon so that's that then i suppose. . . .
Let the perspective members make up there own mind about the look of the
logo,, and who cares about what us current members think!!
Peace. . . .
...it's not worth falling on your sword about...live to fight another day...keep the faith, baby...
this site belongs 2 sundance
he has the rite 2 put what ever he wnats on here
he should not have 2 argue over a skull or anything else
if some1 wants 2 quit because of the logo on this site
oh well..c ya later
like i said b4
some people r not happy unless there complaining about something
yall need ta just get over it
and get use 2 it
great lookin logo sundance
There is no way that having a skull representing death is a good marketing ploy for the site or the cannabis cause. I have read both threads, and I agree with the old membership on this one. I also am tired of coming into feedback and suggestion's and finding that a thread that was started yesterday was closed before members (including myself) could read it and respond to it. After all; Is not freedom of speech practiced here at cannabisdotcom? hmm?
I agree there are times that total bullshit is posted in the feedback and suggestion area and should be stifled, but in this case I don't see why the membership isn't allowed to read and respond to the concerns of other members.
Personally; I think the skull is in poor taste. (unless you are 14)...but I do agree with the fact that Sundance and his media company own the site and can alter/modify it anyway they choose, because after all freedom of speech is still alive at cannabisdotcom...right?
2 other notes. Image reaper is in my opinion one of the most valuable members we have. His opinion should be valuable to this site. (I realize he took himself out, but It's a shame), and I have to say it...
J. Martinez hit the nail on the head. The prohibitionist's used "like" symbols to criminalize hemp/marijuana in the 1st place. 1st impression's are everlasting and cannot be reversed. With the current political climate in mind; I feel we need to err on the side of compassion...Not! "cool" symbolism. Just MHO.
I hope I am not offending anyone, but I felt this had to be said. I apologize to my fellow moderators, and admin for disagreeing with you.

I am also surprised and dissapointed that Image Reaper has decided to leave. That is unfortunate, to be sure.
I understand also that it is not going to be changed immediately, I mean how long has that Bud of the Day been up there? :)
I'm not going to stop posting, because I really like the site, and I always have the top of the page scrolled out anyway. LOL
I also have confidence that the "management" will take these member opinions into consideration.
:D:D
Be cool.

To be clear, though, I vote no for the skull...if we are "voting" here. lol
Much respect my friend. You left with dignity and didn't play the fool like some I've seen. Happy Trails to you!!:jointsmile:Quote:
