Again another Light Question.
Here is IT a day after being lst'd...I know there are plenty pics out there, but I like looking at them and figured you guys might too. Still can't believe how 'normal' it looks already! I did move the yarn one node. Bodom-I didn't drill holes in this planter simply because I have to someday return it to it's original owner. I keep tightening the yarn...I hope that is okay....Happy Tokin' S

Looking good! It was just a suggestion about the holes, In my pots i usually have to wait a while for all the water to drain through the soil, but with more holes, less time. LST is fun, now just wait for the secondary growth and then tie those branches down and so on. Neverending process, but fun if your bored. I think your the only person that puts down editing reasons....cracks me up

Again another Light Question.
well not being able to ck my ph is getting the better of me!!! Since I can't officially fix the problem today (I am going to get Epsom salt probably tomorrow or soon) I foliar fed them according to the grow faq's. Here are some pics showing the beginning of Mg def. Two of them were praying like crazy this morning! I'll let the water dry before putting back under lights.
I watered them yesterday....must have been terrible water, lol.
Pic one and two: Cee cee is the most affected.
Pic three: Ava affected but less...already showing signs of relaxing...
Pic four: Bea not affected too much, left alone.
I didn't include It, not affected that I can tell....maybe just because that one is more mature than the others...
Will Ph lockout make the leaves look thinner/skinnier???
Thanks for looking and thanks in advance if anyone know the answer to the above question! S
-
Again another Light Question.
Well it's not Mg (thanks stinky). But Cee-cee is still reaching...Faithless mentioned about overwatering...but I watered all three the same so I'm confused if that was it....Still thinking I have some kind of ph problem...Well anyhoo, here is an update for day 26 for smaller and approximately 6 1/2 weeks for IT. In the second pic you can see that I am missing some leaves from underwatering. Note to self: repot twice next time so I have better control of watering...:( IT smells so yummy...The others smell like a normal green plant  However, I still think they are doing pretty good...and they have grown significantly in these last four days...getting exciting now. I find myself dreaming about lighting systems and lsting......Happy Tokin S

Again another Light Question.
I wanted to post one more pic before going. I noticed this growth and I don't know if it is an early preflower or just more secondary growth. I don't have a great camera so I had to take this pic through a little magnifying glass...you can see the stipules, but there is some kind of growth going on near the secondary growth. This is occuring in several places near the middle of the plant. Not the greatest pic as I mentioned, but I am keeping my eye on it...hopefully It will reveal itself! S
-
Again another Light Question.
Okay I posted a better pic in other link which is attached here as well. Now I know these are preflowers. BTW- This pic is closer to the top. I'll keep both updated for future reference. Happy Toking on a Friday! S

Hopefully it is confirmed female. Looks like a calyxe but no pistils coming out you say? Plants look healthy nonetheless.

Thanks Bodom for the kind words! I keep peeking in on Isabella...hoping I see a hair popping out....Ava has some preflowers too but way too small to photograph or worry about just yet. Again, THANKS! S

Again another Light Question.
I finally got a kit to test the ph. It is utter crap since it only has 10 tests in it for specifically ph, but I had to do something. It is the Soil Master by Mosser Lee. I followed the directions, but added my water that I have been using (instead of distilled) with the soil. Was this okay? It was about an 8.5 almost 9. Should I ph just the water and adjust from there? Or should I fiddle with the soil and the water like I started doing? I don't want to use all my tablets before I get this sorted out, lol....please HELP!!!!
One more quick q....I saw inexpensive ph meters on EBay...would it be a worthy investment or not worth the hassle since I use Paypal? Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/Indoor-Outdoor-S...em320056823944
Since this is not digital, is does NOT to be calibrated, right?
Thanks in advance! S

Again another Light Question.
both...you want to know what ph your water supply is as well as the ph of the water/soil of your medium.
Information is power. <G>

Again another Light Question.
Well seeing as I am on limited tablets...can I use the soil tablets for just my water? I know that seems like a really stupid question, but I have to ask before I waste anymore.....I am going to get some litmus paper so I can be a little more free -don't know when, soon-...BUT, seeing as I have 7 tablets left, shouldn't I test my water ONLY and get it ph'd (don't know how many testings this will take)....Then worry about the current soil? If not, please advise. Thanks for replying Shovelhandle, S

Again another Light Question.
Here is a pic of the results....One on left is my water. One on right is my soil taken with distilled water. Someone please advise what I should do at this point. Thanks! S

Again another Light Question.
Things are looking up. Ph'd water did the trick, the leaves look real happy today (were all twisted especially Ava). Lst'd yesterday. Going to spend some moolah and make a flower room, still going to be cheap lights, lol, but perpetual...Here are some pics...Peek-a-boo Dr. P! Happy days to you!

Again another Light Question.
Hey I updated the other thread but I might as well throw a better pic in here of Isabella! Preflower hairs popping in a couple places...meanwhile the little sisters are exploding with growth. Ava and Bea are about to show what sex they are.... Cee-cee, being the runt since the beginning, not as close. I don't think I'll veg for anymore than two weeks more seeing as I am using floros. Also going to repot Isa, then once over the transplant, flower. Enjoy the pic...happy tokin on a friday!

why is your tap water green?
anyways. if you run water through the soil and it comes out yellow or dark orange you probably have a salt buildup problem.
if you think you have a salt buildup problem you should flush, i like to soak the plants for 15-20 min in the bath tub.
Then i like to give them some 1/4 strength fish emulsion, 1 L per 1 L of soil.
since you soak them you'll find you dont need to run as much water though, but there is no harm in doing it
lots of pro growers suggest flushing every 4 weeks to prevent such a build up.

Thanks for replying harris7. My water is green because I added a tablet to see the ph of it. I got the yellow one from taking a soil sample 1/2 way down one of my planters and following the directions in my booklet from soilmaster. Not sure if my water was the cause of it being yellow.... Then being confused on what to do I: gave an extremely good watering with distilled, then watered just a little of my ph'd water. WHY you asK? Distilled flushed it, then my ph'd water gave it iron, calcium, and other needed micronutrients. Here is a gallon of distilled water next to a bottle of my well water. As you can see, my water IS YELLOW! And it leaves everything orange in it's wake. it's terrible, it stains all my clothes, I have to clean my toilet everyday, and my bathtub needs a weekly scrubbing due to the high content of minerals in it, mostly iron. I should have mentioned this earlier in the log, eh? I've also included a pic to see how much better they are doing since the last watering. Again if you think there is some better method I am all ears, er um eyes. THanks!

wow is that rust or sulphur or?? No wonder you have ph probs. What a great example of the difference between types of water. Do you get water from a well or public system?

You're telling me! It's a well. It's iron/rust. It leaves a sticky greasy film on everything....BLECH!
-
Again another Light Question.
Wow,
what were the Ph measurements (on the color scale?) My scale may be different from your reagent test.
I have mineral water with a little iron. I have a water softener (works miracles) I don't have to use the iron pellets in the regen tank.
If you let your well water stand a day of so, will the minerals settle out?
Otherwise you may want to get some water for your plants from another source.
Shovelhandle
Good luck, it looks like you're doing well.
-
Again another Light Question.
I know from my well it doesn't matter how long things sit--they are always there--waiting. I gave up and went to RO water a long time ago and am so happy I did. And be assured my well water looks a LOT better than Bree's.
PS I also tried a water softener (Pur) but it didn't help at all. Anyone want to buy a water softener--cheap?
-
Again another Light Question.
Hey thanks for the responses! If I'd have known, I'd replied quicker. To answer q's. My ph wasn't incredibly off...and it does settle, but it is always waiting like weedhound mentioned. In the above pic if you look at the bottom of the jug, you can see that the is orange 'settled'. I have a water softner, but the water shown in the pic is from my outside spigout (sp?), directly from well. My softner just adds salt, so I don't use that water. Do you have to use cal-mag supplements with R/O water? What about ph'd spring water?
Now, to tell you why I am now using gloves to touch my plants.....grr.....there was some BIG BRIGHT RED WASP/ANT in there! That sucker looked like it could have killed me! It's stinger was as big as it's butt! I am in the north, so I don't know how the heck I got this thing in there...probably from the soil?????? I'm terrified, as you can tell. I wish that I got a pic of it....I still have the heebeegeebee's....
Well since I made you all look, I'll share some photos of 35 days. Or is it 36? I accicentally super cropped Cee-cee from my string being too tight. I repotted Isabella, she's in the white container (remember she is three weeks older than the others). Ava looks all weird and twisted, but you can't tell in the pic. I think it is caused by the heat. Bea looks GREAT! Excuse the orange looking shower, we've discussed why it looks that way, lol. Enjoy the photos, and if anyone knows what that ant looking thing was, let me know. I did a search, and all I found was the cow killer wasp...but this creature I saw was not hairy so I don't if that was it or not. Happy tokin!
-
Again another Light Question.
Must be quite the wasp to take down a cow!! Yes, you do need a supplement for RO water--I'm not sure if there are things you can use instead (ie: epsom salts etc) but might be worth asking. I hate to say this but I asked somebody that same question about using spring water and was told not to but I was stoned at the time and I don't remember why. Sorry!
PS Your plants look great!!

Thanks Weedhound! I really appreciate the compliment! I think that bug was from my christmas tree actually...haven't seen another one since I wrote about it, thank goodness. Today is day 38....You're gonna all laugh, I've accidentally super cropped all of my plants, from tying them too tight....I know, I know, you ask "how can it be an accident three times????" My answer simply put "I'm the most clumsy person to ever walk the earth....then magnify that personality trait by being stoned and/or inebriated...." I'm going to have to take a course in knot tying....or in the least make sure I am completely sober while fiddling with my plants! on to the update: I think I found a hair on Ava....I am going to flower within the next few days because these puppies are getting way to large for this area! On a sad note, I won't have many bud porn pics to post...I won't go in to detail why...but I'll get back as much as possible. Enjoy the photos...they may be the last ones before these gals/guys become grownups! BTW- I purposefully stretched them so I could shoot some of my cfl light under the canopy, instead of tying down and snapping again grrr...I still think they look terrific! The pic of the single plant is Ava, the one I think may be a girl. Happy DAYS!!!
-
Again another Light Question.
They do look great. If you think they are large now wait until you put them into flower......they'll go nuts! (no pun intended)
-
Again another Light Question.
Well here is an update....I just put Cee-cee and Isabella into flowering today. I really wanted to do it sooner, but with the holidays, it was impossible to do so. Ava reveled to be really Arsen and Bea was Benedict, so they've been drying in a sack for about a week. It was so obvious that they were males, can't believe I thought Arsen to be female. Both Isabella and Cee-cee are having slight probs with mg and calcium (I think, I have to research in a little bit)...I think it's those since I began to use RO water as instructed...I fed as well and I thought that since Miracle Grow All purpose has trace elements it would be okay without supplements, I figure I wasn't using enough (?) don't know, in the midst of solving that problem.....Enjoy the pics of the two ladies and bid adieu, for they are now in flowering...also included, pic of the next generation that has been basically ignored the first three days of life, hence thier sad appearance...Happy Tokin on hump day. B

After a quick look see, I have N, P(only on one leaf), and Mg def.'s....wasn't feeding them enough for fear of burning them, lol! Should be easy to fix, have a great day again!

just found this thread...lol i browse these boards in a fairly random fasion ;)
well done, they look pretty good to me, keep it up.
i know every one says this, but its true, dont over do things, its too easy to try to fix somthing that wasnt really broken in the first place, i havent read the whole thread, but the last few pics look perfectly healthy to me.
and dont get me started on PH testers...lol, ive got 2 cheap probe type testers because i just dont trust the bloody things!!! at least i know if they both read the same then they *should* be right lol

Yah they look healthy in the far away pics...but having start of def...ANd yes, i am still utterly confused about the testers....grrr......grrrr....I should just buck up and spend fourty USD........grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.... thanks for gracing my thread BSB..or babystarbud...any other comments are welcome I've been following your thread (can't spread anymore rep, loved to see you turn your batch around)
and Virgin Grower, can't wait to see how the clones turn out, I myself am going to venture that way this grow

Again another Light Question.
hi bree, believe it or not, this is the first time i've seen this thread... i just read through, and wish to ask: are you using mg all purpose 24-8-16? if so, i'd like to tell you that my plants will take it at full strength with no probs for three feedings, but then they like to leach out a little. sounds strange, but i couldn't get my colouration right until i upped to full strength, then the exploded! it was quite the miracle:) anyway, i also wanted to suggest greenlight's superbloom for flower. it is a super phosphate product, and increases yeild dramatically.
what type of lights are you going to use for flower? things are looking great so far, and i'm looking forward to watching cee cee and isabella grow their hair out, lol. take care
love, kp:p
ps, i'll tell gk you're looking for him;)

Thanks kp for the info! I in fact am using said product and have up til this point been using 1/4 stregnth...blush...too little.now the next water I will give a good dosing of RO, followed by Full stregnth mg, ap...if WRONG let me know, I have a day or two to figure all possiblities...I am going to use kitchen and bath bulbs and cfls soft white per your previous posts (thank you) for flowering. Wow you are the second person to mention seeing this thread for the first time...well I appreciate all comments and suggestions...That is WHY I think this grow is really going well for a first try..... on floros no less.... Thank you KP, I feel we share a special bond! Ps bought MG's Bloom No good? Advice? I'd imagine that SuperBloom is at Lowes.....make the exchange, eh? B
Yes I'm lookin for you GK........................?

bree, going by that last pic you have one single dodgy looking leaf, and all your new growth looks fine, its nothing to worry about....chill!!

i haven't made it through the new posts yet, but, don't go straight to full strength... if you've been using 1/4 strength, go up to half, then 3/4, then full, ease into it, just in case...
sorry for the confusion...
kp:p
-
Again another Light Question.
ah, i see the knowm has graced your thread... like i said, work up with nutes, it's better to be safe than sorry... i just wanted to let you know that mg goes good full strength, in my experience, but i'd hate to be responsible for an accidental burn, so...
hope this helps:) oh, and what lighting will you be using for flower?
kp:p
ps, over analysis is not necesarily a bad thing;)
-
Again another Light Question.
Thanks kp. I did as you said and gave the ladies 1/2 stregnth this feeding. I didn't take any new pics, because there is nothing different about them execept the defs are slightly worse, but that I expected. The flower room is in another house, hard to get over there to take pics....I started flowering the last post I made, with Kitchen and Bath CFTs...and four 23wt soft white cfls. I have four more bulbs but haven't bought any more reflectors yet. I bought an ionizer instead, since they are stinking up the whole house, lol. Thank you again bsb, kp, gk! GK, yes they are flowering and hopefully I will still get something with them even with the crummy lighting (I realize I waited a little to long to flower :(). B
-
Again another Light Question.
you're ok for the wait, however, your buds will be quite airy and small, flo's work, just not as well... let me see if i can come up with something for you... i've a friend that has lots of old mh lights (400w) that he doesn't use anymore... the only prob is i have to climb a realy tall ladder, and take them down myself. with shaking probs, that's a little scary. those things are EXTREMELY HEAVY!! but if i can get one, i'd be happy to pass it on... you'd have to get some solarmax gold bulbs though... could you do your own wiring from a detailed description and diagram?
kp
