Hi doco, I bought this Ph tester http://www.basementlighting.com/Merc...=1/PROD/PHHEPH (plus a few of the related products on that page). Before that, I had a cheap, crappy tester that was just really inaccurate. It Phed my tap water about 7 whejn in reality, it was closer to 10.
Check it out, I flushed one of my plants and then a few days later, growth has gone through the roof :D I'll be flushing the others today as well. The biggest one must be about 10 inches now and the others are still around 6/7 inches. Does this mean that I could have had some kind of ph lockout? Anyways, here's some pics, day 34! 1st one is of the biggest plant, 2nd is the smaller ones. Don't mind the leaf colour, the HPS turns everything yellow.
Yeah its possible they could of had a lockout, i flush mine about once a month, or maybe they just needed a good watering, when i water i give them plenty so the water is coming out the bottom of the pot, but only water around every 4-6 days at this stage. Looking good zoid ;)
Peace :rasta:
Lookin good man, we're about the same stage in our grow, mine are a month and a week or two old I think (check the link in my sig for pics :)), and finally got them under a 1000 watt HPS last night. We just transplanted yesterday into their final 5 gallon pots, so in a week or two they should fuckin take off. Keep us posted :rasta:
Definitely will. Cheers for the comments lads, think I'll follow your lead hudson and flush the plants every month or so. I flushed the other 2 a few hours ago, hope to see them take off now :) 1000 watts.....nice. Is the quote in your sig from mallrats btw?
Hey man does that external reflector on the cool tube help any? We have one just can't decide whether it looks better with it on or off.
I'm not really noticing any great difference to be honest. Although I suppose it does reflect down extra light that would otherwise be wasted so it's giving me a little extra value on the electricity I'm using. I've never seen anyone else using one though.
Hello again, today is day 39. After I flushed the other 2 plants, they've started to catch up to the remaining plant. They're all about 10 inches tall now and I can see the early signs of sex forming, looks why we have 3 females :) Although I'd say it'll be another few days until I know for sure and can see the white hairs. They're also starting to smell a bit skunky if I smell the latest growth, and it smells very nice indeed. Not much else to report though, I'm starting to think I'll have to transplant into bigger pots again, what do you think? Here's the pics anyway.
im on week one of my first grow i went for the nft system but found out once i bought it that it didnt fit in my cubbord so there is mistake one. i started my seeds off in jiffy pellets and once they came through i gave them some light im useing a 500 watt sodium light with reflector so any because i cant use my nft system at this time i opted for the natural way in soil so i went out and bought some mirical grow soil and transfered my seedlings into 5 4 inch pots sadley after two days 3 of them just fell over and died so im left with 2 very strong plants which i have named karma and lucy seems as tho they are femanised seeds i started with. but on day 5 the two leaves on the top of each plant the ones that have all the nutreant in have gone a bit yellow on the edges why is this i dont want to kill these two as well ive looked in the growers bible but cant find the souce of the problem can any one help me please many thanks
Hi virgin-grower21,
pictures would help but if I understand your post correctly, you are feeding the 5 day old plants with nutes already? If so, this is a bad idea. You should not use nutes until the plants are around 2 or 3 weeks old. That would be the problem there, they're not ready for nutes. Flush them with ph balanced water (no nutes) and hopefully they'll be ok. (I'm not sure if you were referring to the seed leaves though).
However, if I've misunderstood your post and you are not using nutes yet, it could be heat stress caused by having your lamp too close to the plants. 5 day old plants aren't strong enough to be blasted by a 500 watt HPS light, make sure it's a good metre away from the top of you plants for a while and then move it down gradually over a week or so.
Another problem could be the heat. A HPS in a closet could cause it to be very hot in there, perhaps too hot. Either way man, I can only recommend that you read, read, read as this is pretty basic stuff and can be found all over the forums.
Good luck.
Looking good zoid, that flush certainley seems to have helped. I don't know much about easybud, how long do they take to flower? Are they more indica? Yeah i'd start thinking about tranferring to bigger pots soon, don't think it's urgent but the sooner you do it the easier it will be, i've left one of mine longer than i should, kinda scared of hurting it now as its gonna be a little awkward. Oh and i let my pots get quite dry before transplanting, find its easier when they ain't so heavy and the soil don't break up much either keeping the roots undamaged, but i do gently seperate them around the sides a little so they can grow into the new soil easily. Dunno if i've read to do that or i just thought it would be a good idea, but it dosn't seem to do them any harm.
Keep up the good work ;)
Peace :rasta:
Cheers man. Easy bud is a indica/sativa mix (according to an overgrow strain guide) but it must be about 90% indica at least. I'm off on hols Sunday so I'm gonna have to get more soil and bigger pots this weekend! They're gonna be frickin' huge when I get back. I don't want to flower them until then because I've never flowered before and who knows what could happen. Still, that's a solid 2 months + of vegging, hopefully it'll pay off in terms of yield. Flowering is supposed to be 7/8 weeks so I think I'll overshoot Christmas by a few weeks! New year smokes!
Hey, nice plants, man. You can flip to 12/12 as soon as they show preflowers because then they'll be sexually mature.
Thanks. Yeah that would be now. I've got to decide whether to continue the veg period or flower now as my friend looks after my babies when I'm away. I'm thinking the vegging would be safer. Arggh, decisions! I know I'm gonna drive myself crazy thinking about my plants when I should be enjoying a mojito on the beach! :stoned:
You should set up a screen of green and have your friend keep them in veg til you get back. Think of the buds.....lol nothing gives me a hard-on like a nice even field of nugs
Yeah not a bad idea. I've read a bit about scrog, not fully understanding it though. Do I just set up the screen a few inches above my plants right now and let them grow through (in veg)? Seems like it would be a bitch when it comes to flushing though.
Nice grow:) 400 hps rocks:) When overgrow was up I read a few threads about 12/12 from seed I switched to 12/12 as soon as I got some rooted clones of all my plants kept track of which was which and as soon as I knew for sure A plant was a male or hermy chopped it Then the other plants I had for mothers if I got a good one:) I was growing from bagseed that I got from some killer mids
Yeah, as the plant grows up through the screen, you pull it back down and spread it out instead of up. Thus, the plant grows horizontally until it fills up the screen. You want to put 1 to 2 bud sites (tops) per hole. Then when you start flowering you quit pulling it down. This makes all the flowers grow up through the holes in an even canopy, so all of them get equal light and all grow big. No single big colas and little buds. You get feilds of buds. Do a search for some good grows on here. Actually, I'll do that and get back to you in a minute :) It would be a pain to flush but the increase in yeild is crazy. You could always just top....lol I went with low stress training but its all about preference. You could put a large tray under them for flushing and have them sitting up on a raised table that could drain (like the one I had in my CFL room) it wouldn't be hard. Let me know what you decide :rasta:Quote:

That scrog does look amazing. Perhaps next grow :)
Well dudes, this is my last post for a while as I'm going on vacation tomorrow. The plants are doing well and I transplanted them into huge square pots today. I'm hoping they'll be monsters when I come back. That's when I start to flower :)
Cheers for all your help so far. Take it easy and I'll be in touch with an update when I get back in a few weeks. Keep it green!
Byeeeeeee!
Well hello there, the plants have now been vegging for 8 weeks and are officially monsters :) I am also back from vacation. I've flipped the timer to 12/12 now and should be looking forward to some new year smokes! My friend did a good job looking after them while I was away. There's a few lowering yellow leaves but nothing to get too concerned about, there's more lush green in there than anything else. Unfortunately, I saw a few small flies buzzing about but they don't seem to have caused much damage that I'm aware. Still, they'd be better off dead. Any advice on how to go about this?
And finally, some piccies! I'm still a bit shattered from the flight so they're not the best but you should be able to get the idea :)
Hello gentlemen, hope you don't mind if I give my aging thread a bump!
*BUMP*
I'm now into week 3 of flowering. I'll post some pics tomorrow perhaps. All is going well, I have a little yellow/brown lower leaf issue but nothing too major. Think it could be a MG problem but I'm working on it! :) I also picked up a microscope in anticipation of harvest time!
I have also been planning grow 2!
I've purchased 15 sensi seeds northern lights as well as this: http://www.basementlighting.com/Merc...=1/PROD/EL2004
If you remember the thread from the start, I had originally started off in the wardrobe but now that's gonna be my veg area with 4 x vegging envirolights! Continual harvest. Oooh yes.
Anyway guys, I may not have been around much since my vacation but that's a habit I plan to change. As always, any thoughts or comments are massively appreciated!
Thanks,
Z
good luck with that man
looks like a good smoke dude!
Hey man, glad to have you back. BTW, my old screen name had those black flowers as my avatar, since you probably don't recognize me. But yeah, my girls are on week 3 of flowering, started them on 12/12 on nov 11th. Can't wait to see new pics
some pictures asap
Hey zoid, your plants are looking good, get some updated pics up tho ;)
I'm jealous of the envirolite you're getting, that things a beast :) Was thinking bout my next grow a couple of days ago, reckon i'm gonna try northern lights too, like that it stays short and don't smell too much.
Hey guys, sorry I haven't gotten round to the pictures yet! So damn busy and the camera has gone haywire :/ Tomorrow though for sure!
Actually, ignore the above because I've just gone and taken pictures!
So, the plants are doing great, things have gone better than I could have hoped. They're at the start of flowering week 4. I think there may be a minor N deficiency (a little too early) but I'm taking steps to combat that (might even post in the plant probs section about that). Anyway. 2 of the plants are champs! 1 tall, 1 small and bushy.
I have also begun the next grow :) Sensi seeds northern lights. I got the envirolites and reflector I linked to above but the bloody thing is huge. It's won't fit in my wardrobe so I'm just running a temp set-up with 2 envirolites at the moment. I was in a grow shop today and I was looking to get a smaller tent for veg so I can actually use the envirolite reflector :) Hopefully in about two weeks, I'll have one!
Anyway pictures, I have a lot so I'll have to post some in a following post:
Pic 1 - new grow. My temp setup! I know I don't need the lights on but I've just put this together and I'm giving it a trial.
Pic 2 - the gang.
Pic 3 - Closer luck at the top half of the tallest plant (Chuckina Norris)
Pic 4 - The smallest plant. Nice amount of bud sites :)
Pic 5 - Ooops, exact same thing from a slightly different angle!
see next post.....
Pic 1 - The middle plant! Not the healthiest of the bunch for sure. See the lower yellowing? I can handle that. It's the yellowing middle leaf that disturbs me slightly, I've only just noticed that now this instant. Hmm, think it could still an N prob? Any thoughts?
Pic 2 - The middle plant's top portion, still coming along at a satisfactory rate.
Pic 3 - A closeup of the smallest plant! Nice and bushy!
Pic 4 - Final Group shot before I closed up the tent.
Cannot fucking wait to harvest these babies! :D
Any thoughts? Comments?
Thanks for reading this far folks.
Just read through your whole log, Zoidberg. Looking good, man. I'm glad you didn't have to cut them down before you went on vacation. Keep up the good work and keep up the posts!
hey whered u get ur hps at? check out my grow, looks like ur doin real good
Cheers guys. I was messing with my timer last night and they got an extra 2 hours of light than they should have! Shite! :( Ah well, shit happens!
In other news, 10 of 16 NL seedlings have started to show :) I might start a different log for that though.
Anyway, I got my ballast at a grow shop in Dublin but the cool tube reflector was purchased at basementlighting.com.
Quick update, I came home last night and the yellowness had progressed quite a bit! I don't know if it was a lack of N or nute burn but I flushed just to be safe with ph'ed water, I gave them a foliar feed with biobizz fish mix (high N) to see if it rectifies the problem. The buds are forming nicely and I know that the plants will go a bit yellow by harvest time but this is way to early, they still have at least 2/3 weeks left to go before harvest.
Anyone got any ideas how I can rectify this? I'll post pics later.
Hey zoid, i wouldn't of thought it was nute burn, i'd say you're right suspecting low N, I could well be wrong tho. I'd of done the same, a flush and a dose of N. Give it a couple of days and hopefully the yellowing will have stopped.
Peace :rasta:
Cheers for the reassurance mate. Tomorrow, they will be flowering 5 weeks so almost, almost there....
Here's a few pics of one plant for an example exhibiting the symptoms. Plus a nice bud shot so its not all doom and gloom :)
Hey man, as long as its just the bottom leaves, I wouldn't sweat it too hard. If it starts spreading all over the plant, you might have a problem though. Overall, the girls are looking spectacular. This past saturday was the end of week 5 flowering for me, so I'm just a couple days ahead of you. These last 3 weeks is where it gets really exciting, at least from what I read thats when they pack on the weight.

That link is to the "Plant Abuse Chart" which is a great too for diagnosing plant problems. It has pictures of leaves from plants that are having too little/too much nutrients, what is wrong with them, and how to correct it. Bookmark it, it comes in handy
Good day all. Today is day 49 of flower. I've been reading up on easy bud and though the breeder says flowering is 8 weeks, anyone who has grown it goes for longer. That means an additional week on the nutes for these babies before a final flush!
I've also been meaning to get my Northern Lights grow on here but I figure what's the rush, they're only 22 days old and the first month or so of a grow log is boring anyway :)
Anyway, here's some pictures of the main plant - Chuckina Norris! Any thoughts, fire them my way. Chop chop in 2 weeks depending on the trichs!
*Bump*
Where's the love? :( Pic 3 is sugar coated lovliness and my proudest photographic moment!
;)
I wanna chop these bastards down!!!! The next month of finishing, harvest, drying and curing is gonna kill me!
