I like to mix it up evey so often. When it comes to hip-hop, or whatever it's called these days, I like old school shit like Cypress Hill (Black Sunday, Temples of Boom), Funkdoobiest, House of Pain (Fine Malt Lyrics), Eazy-E.
Sometimes I like classic rock. The Stoner Hippy Rock. Steppenwolf, Skynyrd, Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Eagles, Jefferson Airplane, The Zombies, Mamas and the Papas (California Dreamin ).
But I usually endure the heavy, grab you by the balls and twist music. Pantera, Unearth, Hatebreed, Throwdown, Slayer, Slipknot, Soulfly, Damageplan.
Then the hardcore punk music. All Out War, Terror.
Regular punk rock like Nofx, Rise Against, Strung Out.
Reggae like Marley (of course!) and Sublime.
I like all kinds of music. Just depends what I'm in the modd for at that moment.
My boyfriend is in love with Jeff Buckley. He had such a sweet voice.Quote:

Yeah
Oooh, yeah
I've been jailed
And my phone's been bugged
But I'm still winning the war on drugs
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Now in my backyard I've got a stock of suhimas
Like my cocaine with tequila
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Now ATF, and that DEA
They busted down my door,
But I was out of town that day
Oh yeah (uh huh), oh yeah
Oh yeah, (whoo), oh yeah
Now I only smoke the cronic
No I never smoke for stress
I get high with the help of Federal Express
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Everybody, oh yeah, oh yeah
Cause I've been jailed and my phone's been bugged
But I'm still winning the war on drugs
That's right...
Bands that are considered original:joint1: :joint3:hippy::

Inspired by the use of mind altering drugs like cannabis, mescaline, psilocybin, and e:joint1:specially LSD. They broke with traditional rock and laid the roots for psychedelic metal and experimental rock genres.

queens of the stone age.
Music has always been huge to me, but it absolutely fascinates me when I'm blazed. Here's an extensive list of what I like:
Jam bands will always be my favorite type of music, the skill it takes to improv like that blows me away and the live shows are always incredible. Love the Grateful Dead, Phish, String Cheese Incident, Widespread Panic, Disco Biscuits, Umphrey's McGee, moe., Leftover Salmon, Strangefolk, Gov't Mule, STS9, Tea Leaf Green, Keller Williams, Perpetual Groove...I could go on
Reggae grooves are always nice for chillin. Alborosie is my favorite but gotta have some Bob and any of the Marley children, Peter Tosh, Capleton, Toots & The Maytals, Steel Pulse, Buju Banton, Collie Buddz, Jah Sun, Lutan Fyah, Ras Attitude, Midnite...
Also love bluegrass, especially jamgrass like Yonder Mountain String Band, Railroad Earth, David Grisman, Old & In The Way, Hot Buttered Rum, Trampled By Turtles, Greensky Bluegrass, Sam Bush, Del McCoury, Alison Krauss & Union Station...
Jazz is always interesting to listen to, particularly Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Charles Mingus, Charlie Parker, Wes Montgomery, Medeski Martin & Wood, John Scofield, Thelonius Monk, Bela Fleck & The Flecktones...
Funk is just as good as jazz and my favorites are George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Galactic, Soulive, Greyboy Allstars (anything with Karl Denson really), Sly & The Family Stone, Tower Of Power, The Meters...
Also big on mellow acoutsic/folk music like Bob Dylan, Old Crow Medicine Show, Simon & Garfunkel, Willie Nelson, James Taylor, Richie Havens, Jackie Greene, Martin Sexton, The Wailin' Jennys, Crosby Stills & Nash...
Gotta have the classics from the 60s/70s as well: The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Allman Bros, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Band, Led Zeppelin, Traffic, Cream, Doobie Brothers, Neil Young, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Big Brother & The Holding Company, Santana, Jefferson Airplane...
As far as rock type music I really dig My Morning Jacket (the Okonokos live album is insane), Ween, Dead Meadow, The Mars Volta, Wilco, Radiohead, Gorillaz, The Black Keys, Rustic Overtones, Explosions In The Sky...
Les Claypool gets a category all of his own since I'm obsessed with his music. Frog Brigade with Skerik and Mike Dillon is my favorite version but I also love Primus, Oysterhead, C2B3, and the High Ball with the Devil album.
Not a huge rap fan but I like Notorious BIG and Bone Thugs. I listen to some assorted hip hop as well like Army of the Pharaohs, The Roots, Swollen Members, Brother Ali, Jedi Mind Tricks, Mr. Lif, Immortal Technique...
Electronic music is a huge genre with tons of different styles but my favrorites are Daft Punk, Shpongle, Infected Mushroom, Younger Brother, Bassnectar, Phutureprimitive, OTT, Carbon Based Lifeforms, Astral Projection, Bluetech, Hallucinogen...
Metal is the one genre I've never gotten into cause I don't like heavy music and screaming but I do enjoy the power metal band Dragonforce and select Blind Guardian songs because they're so overly epic, it's awesome.
I left out a lot of bands but this covers the majority of bands I listen to. If you haven't heard any of them check them out, find some sweet new music.
If I had to choose a handful of albums:
Radiohead - Kid A
AIR - Moon Safari (a fantastic chill album)
The Postal Service - Give Up (a sentimental favorite)
Daft Punk - Alive 2007 (an album to appreciate after going to a live show)
Pink Floyd - Meddle/Wish You Were Here
The Beatles - Rubber Soul
Neutral Milk Hotel's "In The Aeroplane over the Sea" and Built to Spill's "Keep it Like a Secret" are growing on me, but cannot be considered favorites at this point.
Shpongle, The Mars Volta, illScarlett, Sublime, Goldfinger, etc.
Mainly just reggae and ska. It tends to sound really up-beat and cheery. :D
