HENDRIX
kirk hammet
jimmy page, jimi hendrix, joe satriani (lots of jays), steve vai, and buckethead
Stevie Ray Vaugn <-- genius
Slash <-- Just love the sound of his guitar, he really makes it sing.
most of the people here dont know anything about music for one thing and are going on purely technical ability. and when i say most people here dont know about music i mean they dont know who iommi is. and if you havent heard of iommi you dont know shit about music. ill back you up he is a favorite of mine. he is the riff master and pretty much invented heavy music, was a huge part of black sabbath, which is as far as influence goes one of the top 5 rock bands of all time. i mean without this man thousands of bands today wouldnt exist, or maybe they would but they would be a lot worse. most of the people who listed hendrix clapton or vaughn probably have a greatest hits record or two. im not saying any is bad, im just saying when i hear people list them as the best i assume they are people who dont know shit. i mean dont get me wrong they are three of the best ever but most people that say that heard someone else say it. also i heard the anselmo/iommi collaborations from the iommi solo cd they are greatQuote:

speaking op up and coming good guitarist's the quitar player for this New Zealand band called Children of Bodom, is extrememly good, i forget his name but theres this song by them called everytime i die, amazing guitar this guy is really talented
matt bellamy(muse)
because he is awsome
oh, i forgot about Galder, the founding member of Old Mans Child
Not a big fan of In Defiance of Existance, but yet a large fan of OMC...the riffs in Pagan Prosperity and Ill-Natured Spritual Invasion have such classical feel...definantly the best of melodic black metal
Rusty Cooley.
Mr. Iommi lost a few fingers as well. To me, he was an amazing guitar player as he was missing the tips of a few of his playing hand. He made putty tips so he could still play. 90% of my playing is based on feel to know here to notes are. To not have that feel, to me, would make things very difficult.
I also enjoy Jeff Hannamen. Better than Kerry King I think. :)
That is Alexi LaihoQuote:

And Old Mans Child are awsome aswell!!!
I havent listen to them in a long time!!
Might have to get the cd's out.
the best guitarist isnt the most technical, cause ill hear some insane shit with alotta like grindcore bands and european metal that my bro listens to it, but they seem to get too technical instead of just playing something that sounds good.
to me, the best guitarist means whos work moves me in a good way. will i tune out everything else just to hear the guitar? does the riff get my blood flowing? can i find the beauty in its simplicity?
hendrix - god how it moves me
hammet - some of my favorite solo parts are his
rossington - doesnt get the attention like paige, but i like his playing more
clark domae - from a band called rufio, plays alot of sick shit
whoever plays guitar for OAR, hes amazing
Steve Vai - "For the Love of God"
great while chillin' :D
hendrix is amazing but idk page is right beghind him
