Well, we (3 of us) weren't trying to go low-cost or skimp on things. We just wanted to make it right the first time, especially since this is our first cab. The goal was to try and get a grow in before we head to the Cup in Amsterdam in Nov. We might still make that, but it will be close.
We spent about a month talking things over and doing research (reading your posts, which are all bad ass by the way ). It took a little over a month and a half to build it to where it is now. We started on the July 4 holiday. But that was mostly working on only the weekends and not all of them, due to our jobs. I figure it took us about 10-14 days total for the build, but we had to have some down time for the glue to dry and all that stuff. I'm glad we took our time, since we ended up changing/adjusting our plans so many times during the build. That gave us plenty of time to make it look so nice.
We have not tallied all the receipts yet, so I can't tell you how much it has cost us. Plus, we have not used all the supplies that we bought (two more fans for the clone chamber and intake, plus a couple of other things). We did try to get the best price for our supplies that be bought though.
SeedlessOne: I yield about a pound/crop, sometimes a tad more, sometimes a bit less.
It was very wise to take it slow and do lots of research. That's probably why you guys came up with such a nice cab! Can't wait to see you start using it. Show us some pics when you have some ladies in there! ;)
Amsterdam for the Cup sounds wicked. That's something I've always wanted to do, but hey, if you post some pics of your Amsterfun, I can at least live the dream vicariously through you!
Hey bro...is there a way to conatct you by e-mail? I have some questions for you...take care.
Peace :smokin:

Okie, jamstigator (at) hushmail.com. That's a temporary free email address, so don't count on it being there forever. Paranoia! Heh. ;)
Jamstigator, can you help me find that box on lowes.com? i went to lowes yesterday and could not find anything...
It wasn't online, got it at local store. I'm not sure every Lowes carries the same stuff either. You might not even want to buy that cabinet. I was going to get a cheap white one, but the woman said those looked too bland and ugly, so she made me get that nicer-looking one, and it cost like $250. It also weighed around 230 pounds and that was before I added a real backing to it or put anything in it; I made some contractors working on the house get it to the house and move it where I wanted it. I assembled it myself, then had to get help again to lift it upright. You can check other stores; just because one didn't have it doesn't mean none will. It was in the "storage" area, and it was on a top shelf and out of reach, and wasn't easy to see.
Oh, if you do find that cabinet, a couple of notes. It comes with a divider that divides it into two vertical areas under the top shelf. I did not install that divider, and that made the entire cabinet more flimsy. It's designed to be installed against a wall and they warn that it's dangerous if you don't (230 pounds falling on you could kill you). It comes with a cardboard decorative backing. After I got it assembled (minus that divider), it did feel shaky, so I went to Home Depot and had them cut me two rectangles of wood which together perfectly covered the back, and screwed those pieces on, and that made it very sturdy without the need to attach the cabinet to a wall. You might or might not want the divider. I wanted it all to be one big space under the top shelf, personally, which is why I didn't assemble it with it in there.
What does it mean when the leaves are pointed slightly up, like in a "V" shape. Plants are exactly 1 week since planting. Does that mean they need more light or water (I can't remember)?
Also, if the leaves are drooping isn't that less light/water?
Got 7 going and most are perfect, but a couple are pointing up and 1 is drooping. No pics, sorry.
When can we add Nitrogen to our bedding?
We are using an "all purpose organice premium potting/bedding mix" that has (no chems): Pine Bark fines, Composted Rice hulls, Sphagnum Peat Moss, Perlite, Chicken maneewer, Humate, and expanded Shale.
Is it ok to add N at this stage, even though the plants are not showing signs of Deficiency? Or should we still wait?
We're trying to help with growth rate.
Anyone??
The v-shape is normal, they are just light happy. Or atleast that is what ive been told. You should wait awhile before adding any nutes. Light amounts at first. Alaskian Fish Emulsion is great for N.
^^^ What he said. ;)
Heh, sorry, I was busy, harvest day for me, was getting all sticky. Wrist aches like a mofo now, ugh! Here's the result of the work though.
Thanks for the replies, Seedless and Jams. I was worried it was a deficiency of some sort. Glad to know it's not.
Dammit Jams, you should have called, I would have helped you with all that hard work! Looks VERY nice! Hope we're that lucky.

Took almost 10 hours! I queued up the entire Phish Island Tour, all four shows, and listened to that while I worked, then watched an episode of Cops where the cops raided this dude's house, took all his lights, plants, guns and his Corvette, then left a message on his answering machine (since he wasn't home), that was something like, "If you're wondering if you got ripped off, you didn't. This is the police, and we have all your marijuana plants and lights and guns and we took your car too." Yikes, how would you like to come home to that on your answering machine? Pretty disturbing shit to watch while manicuring a bunch of pot. Lol!
Holy hell, Jam!!
How much weight did you pull in with that harvest? Hopefully smoking it helps to relieve your developing carpal-tunnel. :p
Jealousy is sweeping over me!
And keep up the good work, Tx!
My wrist hurt too much to deal with weighing stuff, and I was just too tired, so I have no idea on the wet weight. Probably about a pound dried though, but I'll weigh it when it's dried, because I'm curious too. There were about 60 buds (some rather large, around 30 each of AK-48 and White Rhino), plus a 2 gallon container of leaves, and a 2 gallon container of 'budlets' (for lack of a better word, you know, the little mini-buds you get farther down the stalk). I don't sell it, so weight isn't a huge concern for me, although I do give some away to friends, so they don't have to blow giant wads paying shady dudes for mystery weed.
I probably wouldn't grow at all, but the woman had some major probs with sleeping, and the pills her doctor prescribed her were both addictive and had icky side effects, whereas she sleeps like a baby after a bowl. And today I read a story about a study that showed that cannabis may very well also help with osteoporosis, which she was diagnosed with last year. What's interesting about that is that we had not smoked any pot for probably 3-ish years before she was diagnosed with osteoporosis, which makes me wonder if I shouldn't have grown us some years ago. And now that we have been smoking, her first report back from the doctor showed that she'd lost no bone mass in the last six months. Granted, she takes other medication for that too, and we've altered our diet to increase calcium intake, but still, even the doctor seemed a little surprised that she'd lost NO bone mass. We didn't tell him she's been firing up nightly for a while now. Heh. ;)
Its a Plant...thanks for the encouragement. My ideas were mostly how the dimensions would best be utilized and TokenAway actually made it happen, he's the builder of the group. Thanks everyone for the comments!! They are greatly appreciated...

hey jamsitgator, i got a few questions to ask if you dont mind. How many inches is the top self from the top of your cab? (the self where the fan is)
Any how many inches high is you actual grow space? i know the cab is like
6'2 or something but i am curious to how much from the top self to the bottom. i hope that makes sense. I reason for all these quesiton is i have a cab that was given to me and it is great but i fear that is not tall enough. It is 5 feet tall and 3'3 foot wide. think a 400hps with a cool tube be able to fit in that and hold three plants? thanks for the help...
What, you want me to get off my ass and find a ruler? Oh, alright. Heh, the top shelf is 10.5" of useable vertical space, the shelf itself is 0.5" thick, then beneath it the growing space is 53" high. And yes, I think you could probably use a 400 watt HPS with a cooltube, but you'd have to be a bit more careful not to do what I did and over-veg the plants too long. Might be better to go with two plants too, but that depends on how big you let them get. ;)
Wow lol, you've got hella-skills. I wish I could build a cab like that :(.
I hadn't posted before, but TxRooster97, all I can say is
KUDOS to you and your buddy for a kick-ass cabinet.
Really impressive!
Hey what where your temps in the cab with the 600hps on?
Hey nice setup man, do you still have the plans that you used to build it? I'm looking to do something similar.
Do you not look at the dates when this shit was posted??? It's almost been 2 years since the last post :wtf:
Take it easy :rasta:
Damn, how quickly time flies. I didn't know people were still asking questions about the cab. Sorry. Well, there has been some major changes to the cab in the past two years. TXRooster moved to another city so I basically forgot about this post...my bad.
The cab was completed gutted after figuring out that the intake in the floor was taking up valuable space. The lower door on the bottom no longer exists. Instead, there is an opening that stretches the wisth of the cab that measures approximately 10"-12" tall. The door was taken off and replaced with pegboard with mylar on the inside (that door was heavy). I added an exhaust for the cool tube that pushed air through the side of the cab. Not really stealthy anymore but close. Temps are steady and environment chugs right along nicely. Different hanging fans and inlet oscilating fans help with plenty of fresh air and movement inside. The peppers grow very nicely.
Thanks for the bump. :rasta:
Dude,
May be an old post, but the pics for your original cabinet were the inspiration for mine.. Though, I will point out, mine is in no way stealth. It's hard to disguise a 7.5' tall cabinet that sounds like an airplane taking off when the ventilation system kicks in.. The environment rocks for growing inside the box.. mine stays in the upper 70s to low 80s dependent on outside temp, the lights are scheduled to run at night to help too..
Anyway, thanks for being the first for building such a cool box!!
