The energy you put into it directly influences your success and how deeply you can journey into the worlds on the other side of the veil as well as travel about this one.
If you are looking to just have fun, by all means do it. I am willing to bet it will lead into something much much more. It leads to a different perception of life and the place you hold within its web. It will elevate you to a new level of awareness and often will trigger you to accept other gifts you have. It will undoubtedly remove the misconception that the physical is reality.
When you can journey as a soul with a fully aware consciousness you will reap rewards and be enriched by experiences you will never find on the physical plane. Man I could tell some stories!
So to sum it up " GO FOR IT!"
Id be happy to guide you if you need it.
I will also recommend a book I have often mentioned here called simply
"Adventures Beyond the body" by William Buhlman.
It is a plain english , matter of fact book to introduce you to techniques to sharpen your skills and journey with ease and confidance. Its a great book.
Thanks! I'll go on over to the library later and see if they have a copy of "Adventures Beyond the body" by William Buhlman. I've been looking for a good book about this and so far I've found lots of "duds".
My sincerest thanks!

every day you will sleep for 4 hours then get up for 4 hours, sleep 4 hours, get up 4 hours, sleep, get up, sleep , get up.
so just alternate sleep patterns at short intervals
I got that method from a Jane Roberts "Seth" book
it will work in a shorter time than the other method
maybe try it over a weekend lol
I would love to try this. When I was younger I did several sleep depravation experiments during the summer when I didn't have school. Right now however it's just not an option, I live on my little ones schedule. Next time she's with her daddy for the weekend I'll give it a shot.
thanks for all your good advice!

good advice and I know exactly what you are talking about :-). The first method I posted where you let your body fall asleep while staying awake, I find is the one where my concious is the most alert and in controll. It is from this that I have controlled both my soul and my physical body at once. Boy is that a wierd but possible thing to do. hehe
Princess,
Good luck and I hope that method bring results for you. also kinda like funky monkey said "ya gotta practice and dedicate a part of each day in self hypnosis to program your mind" you get out what you put in
and one more thing ....
you CAN do it

Personally, I think Tool is composed of pretentious pricks, or at least one named Maynard James Keenan. No idea what he's trying to get you to do other than pay utmost attention as the band plays the same riff over and over while changing ONE note of it. Fascinating!
I'm rather skeptical of this whole astral projection thing. But then again, being a solipsist, I would be. I'm curious as to why souls would be put in bodies if that's not their true form, though.

I found that roaming about this plane as soul opened my eyes to the countless questions regarding time/space/matter that I couldnt quite articulate before. It gave me a solid ground from which to challenge my percertions of physical reality.
I do have some difficulty though in rising this way. The vibrations are much more intense than from a sleep state and sometimes are so intense that I am uncomfortable enough to lose focus.
I almost exclusively begin from a sleep or deep meditative state because for me it provides easier access to other 'planes' than the physical we are accustomed to in waking life. This is where I journey most.
peace.

haha, nope. the falling dreams where you wake up suddenly are usually muscles relaxing, and thus you have the feeling of floating, because your muscles are not tensed, they're in a state similar to how they would be when you fall

Obviously our views on this differ greatly.
Your views come from your perception of reality and mine/ours come from our experiences outside of that narrow perception.
I enjoy discussing these things since they are deeply rooted in my soul.
I have learned and experienced a great many things that have brought me to where I stand now.
I encourage you to share your views and to tell us how you know this to be truth.
However, I discourage the mocking and condescending tone demonstrated in your recent post and hope that any further comments will be more respectful to the views and spiritual beliefs of others.
There is no need to include rudeness in your opinions.
Lets learn from each other and expand each others awareness and understanding.
peace.

I don't want to get banned or anything...
BUT...astral projection is a load of shit...
Peace. :smokin:
Buddhists don't meditate like that...it's not about closing your eyes and pretending about some bogus adventure...it's about blocking everything out and JUST EXISTING...or TAKING EVERYTHING IN and becoming one...
Maybe.

I love you all.
Smoke one with me, please......... :smokin: ... :smokin: ... :stoned:

yes the vibrations when your body falls asleep are very wierd feeling. It is like when your leg falls asleep but over your whole body. One trick I have found to overcome believe it or not is relaxing more when this happens. It temporarily makes the vibrations even more intense though but once you get past a certain point you will find that you are now out of your body and you were aware of the whole proccess and therefore you are more more alert and in controll.
and Binzhoubum,
sure bro it just could be a load of shit to you because that is your reality and belief that you cannot do it therefore you never will. Maybe someday you will have a near death experience and it will therefore be forced upon you whether you believe in it or not.
also I wouldnt consider my methods "meditation"
totally different things man

It's also possible that the "astral plane" is fabricated by people's minds, but again, since it's part of your reality and beliefs, you'll never accept that.
I can't claim to know one way or the other; just pointing out the necessary counterpart to what you said about beliefs.

Harmonicminor: I usually end up relaxing into a sleep state before the vibrational change has completed. But man, what an intense feeling.
There is nothing that compares to it in my experience.
I found that I could handle the vibration longer if I did some energy work on my head prior to the experience.
I form a ball of energy in my hands and use it to 'cleanse' my mind and relax the conscious part. I open myself to the energies to flow freely. It helps.
A couple of you have made statements doubting the reality of astral projection and OBE.
When i was first learning how to control the experiences that I have always had I admit that I had some thoughts that it was all within my mind.
I have always had shared experiences with family but the human mind sometimes needs repeated proof to believe what the soul already knows.
The mind easily forgets that it was already convinced. Strange how that works.
Anyhow, a friend and I decided to try an experiment. He would project from his home while I would project from mine. We expected it may take some practice and decided to each keep a journal.
We would each write our experiences in as much detail as possible and share it at the end of the week.
Well after the first night I had pages filled with intricate detail of my experiences, both with him and without him.
Apparently so did he , so we agreed to meet right away.
He walked into my home and we exchanged journals and I was abso-fucking-lutely blown away!
Our experiences were exactly alike. We each had our own feelings and perceptions but the structure and details were all the same.
We did this for quite some time. Each time we returned to the same place and explored. We would meet at what I have come to believe is a meeting place for travellers like us. We each met some people there and shared conversations. We would go our own ways and meet up again and share details of where we had been. We wrote our experiences down in extensive detail and were amazed when each time the details matched.
I met some people there that I came to meet later in waking life. ( my wife and her exhusband included )
I have since done this with other friends but those initial experiences stick with me still today. Like I said I met my wife this way. It is strange even to me but we fell in love a year before we met physically.
Hehe wrap your skepticism around that one!
Anyway, my point is that I was once where you are now. I doubted. At one point I even 'knew' it was impossible to project yourself beyond your body but my experiences have taught me otherwise.
I am a different man today because I had the faith to at least try to learn.
Through that I opened a door that changed my life forever.
My perceptions of everything are different now. It was like the world changed and I changed with it overnight.
So, please jsut listen to what we have to say without closing your minds completely. You might learn something that opens doors for you. In the very least you can learn what other people believe and we can learn what your beliefs are. Nothing negative in that.
But I do ask that you kindly keep some respect in your statements.
This isnt disneyland to me, it is my belief system. It is my reality.
It is sacred to me.
Ask us questions to further your understanding.
Dont just tell us its bullshit and we are crazy because you will miss an opportunity to expand your awareness and learn a little. So will we.
peace.

Accidentally recognized my plane, what do I do now?
very true funky :-)
next time you do that method just try it my way and you will see. let yourself relax and just sink into your bed more and more and more.
binz....
heres what to me validates it completely.....
being aware the whole time my body falls asleep and finding myself out of my body. while out I have full controll and I do indeed know my body is sleeping. when I do this I can go and put my hands through solid objects and feel the vibrations of it. I can fly through the air at will and even completely change my surroundings. I can visit the akashic records or travel through time.
but tell me this.......
how do you know your whole reality isnt just bullshit and fake.......
it could be completely constructed of thought itself
goofball.....
my sentence that you quoted, what I mean by that is....
in most cases you have to believe completely before you are able to do it.
and you also must be able to mentally handle it
in the other cases that it happens to people who dont even know what astral travel is it will happen through a near death experience most of the time. other times it has been known to happen out of the blue to people that didnt know what was going on at all but just found themselves floating above thier sleeping bodies.

hehe That gave me a good chuckle pureevil.
Harmonicminor ( and anyone else following )
Well, last night I tried that technique and found myself repeating results I usually get. Once the vibrations hit my head it was very intense and gave me a little startle. Just enough to reduce the vibrations a bit.
Something about trying to remain awake despite my natural tendancy to drift to a different level of consciousness keeps me from total relaxation.
I feel as though I am fighting myself on some level.
I suspect that in trying to resist the change of consciousness I am requiring more energies to adjust the vibrational frequency and that is why it feels so intense.
I have a lot of programs and processes running in the background that distract me lately. Not puttin that computer on stand-by prior to the shift is a challenge.
Ill keep at it. I dont expect immediate success when trying something a bit different.
peace.

a little bit of sugar will help you achieve the brainwaves needed Funky. I know exactly what you mean though. The hardest part is not drifting off in REM state during this. Or hypnogogic imagery state.
and yes it is a fight on a certain level also.......
you have to overcome this by always telling yourself that you CAN do it. sometimes you may get the sensation that you cant move also right when you pop out of your body.
a daily ritual of self hypnosis telling yourself that you can do it will program your subconcious and help you.
