Let's set up another hike.
Anacapa Island is located 14 miles off the coast from Ventura. It is the only Channel Island to retain its American Indian name, derived from the Chumash word, "Eneepah", meaning island of deception or mirage. Ocean waves have eroded the perimeter of the island, creating steep sea cliffs towering hundreds of feet in height and exposing the volcanic origins of air pockets, lava tubes, and sea caves. At the east end of Anacapa a natural bridge has formed in the ocean. Forty-foot high Arch Rock is a trademark of Anacapa and Channel Islands National Park.
What to see: Sea birds are the most conspicuous wildlife on Anacapa. The largest breeding colony of the endangered California brown pelican is located on West Anacapa. Other sea birds include western gulls and several species of cormorants. The island's rocky shores provide resting and breeding areas for California sea lions and harbor seals. Catch a glimpse of the fascinating undersea world of the kelp forest without even getting wet. During the summer, park rangers dive into the Landing Cove on East Anacapa with a video camera. Visitors can see, through the eye of the camera, what the diver is seeing by watching video monitors on the dock. Pristine tidepools can be explored. Springtime brings colorful flowers, including the strange tree sunflower, or coreopsis, a plant found only on the Channel Islands and a few isolated areas on the mainland. Visit the museum on the island, which houses the original crystal and brass Fresnel lens from the lighthouse.
What to do: Camping, hiking, ranger-led interpretive hikes, picnicking, snorkeling, SCUBA diving, swimming, kayaking, bird watching, exploring tidepools, and getting away from the mainland city-congestion are some of the activities you can do on Anacapa Island.

Let's set up another hike.
Ah, that is funny you posted that
I was looking into a bunch of hikes
and found a few that might fit our criteria
I definitly like the island idea
Goes with summer, california
and shrooms, weed and the ocean go so well together
I am thinking July 29-30 Sat-Sun
Parson's Landing Campgrounds
Secluded beach camping
The Parsonā??s Landing Campground is a secluded beach camping site located seven miles west of the village of Two Harbors. The eight primitive campsites accommodate up to six people each and are accessible only via a moderately difficult hike or kayak trip. Shade structures and running water are not provided; you must pack in your supplies.
BBQ and fire ring
Picnic Table
One bundle of firewood and 2.5 gallons of water are included in your fees. More wood and water are available by advance purchase only.
Directions to Campground
The Parsonā??s Landing Campground is accessible via a moderately difficult seven-mile hike from Two Harbors or a two-and-a-half-mile hike from Emerald Bay . You can also kayak to the campground. It is 12$ per campsite and site holds 6 people. So, 2$ a piece. Cheap
So, we are looking at a 7 mile hike to and fro
Hike, swim, snorkel, fish
I got some other ones to. One is in the Angeles National Forest and the other in San Gabriels.
How does the 29-30th work for everyone or would you rather go during the week?
Friendowl, when is your vacation? I would be up for a Vegas run during the week.
Let me know. Late
-
Let's set up another hike.
im down with the camping trip
count me in
where in the san gabriels were you thinking
i believe i got the week off after 4th of july
-
Let's set up another hike.
Camp at South fork camp. Start at the Buckhorn Trailhead. Camp at 6,300 ft among pine and Cedar Trees. Remote. 10 mile hike each way
Mt. Waterman and the Twin Peaks stand guard over some of the most remote country in the San Gabriel Mountains. The San Gabriel Wilderness Area here and the Sheep Mountain Wilderness Area to the east both have a large area without trails or roads, leaving them mostly undisturbed by a human presence. Both areas have significant populations of Bighorn Sheep due to this remoteness.
The countryside is magnificent here, with Mount Waterman and Twin Peaks towering 4000' above Devils Canyon to the West, 4500' above Bear Creek to the East, and 5000' above San Gabriel River Canyon to the South. Nearly the entire San Gabriels can be seen from atop those peaks. The peaks and most of the slopes below them are covered with Jeffrey and ponderosa pine, with incense cedar at Twin Peaks Saddle.

Let's set up another hike.
geo i hiked that trail before
this time of year the water is low
and the rangers are always closing
the damn roads cuz of fire danger
the island trip sounds real good
-
Let's set up another hike.
Yeah, the island trip does sound good
I am not sure if it will be real busy, it dosent matter cause the campground only has 6 semi primitive camping spots
If everyone is down I will reserve a 1 camping spot and that will hold 6 people.
It will definitely be a good time and I have never been to Catalina. Make sure to bring goggles cause I have heard the water is really clear.
Everyone down for July 29-30
Catalina

Cashed in some miles and got my free ticket. friendowl, geo: here is my email [email protected]. Send me your email at some point so I can give you more contact info. I'm staying with a friend in Silverlake and hope we can get together Friday for a little party or something. AND, I've put in some calls. I asked for enough for 8 but will probably just get enough for 4 or 5 unless there are more brave souls to join us on this experience. Come on GK. Don't be a chicken. Bawk, Bawk.

Hey Hazzmat. I don't think we've spoken so I'll introduce myself: I'm psychotic and like to kill people for fun. Sometimes I eat human flesh but my favorite is fried chicken and hot dogs. I'm wiry and dim with flashes of genius. I've lived in 5 states and travelled counterclockwise around the country once in 12 days--averaging 1,000 miles/day. Looking forward to the hike. Try to get Geonagual to start a new thread when the place is set and with invitation to all cann.com members. I don't care where we go--just looking forward to chillin like a villian on pennacylin with you dudes.
-
Let's set up another hike.

I have been researching a bunch a campsites
and this is what I have come up with
After thinking of a beach campout, I have had it stuck in my head
There are other campsites on Catalina that are still available
On is BlackJack. It is on top of the highest mountain on Catalina (around 2000 ft). It is connected to a bunch of trails. The hike is 1 1/2 miles to the campsite. Probably a 15-20 minutes to the beach.
Also, Hermit Gulch. Right by the water. There is a 2 night minimum for all campsites on Catalina. $12 per person per night.
I was also thinking San Clemente State Beach.
A great campsite on the cliffs in San Clemente, the pacific ocean 5 minue walk away. No hike to the campsite. It is like $15 for a campsite for a night. It is a big campsite, so it will be fun dancing with mush and wandering everywhere, messing with people, building a huge campfire, smoking blunts/joints and going in the ocean at night.
o
FO, would you rather go deep in the forest? I am not sure if everyone will be equipped enough.
I should have all of this done in the next couple of days. I got no comp. But no biggie, I will lock a place and it will be done. Peace
-
Let's set up another hike.
im up for anything geo
san clemente sounds proper
i dont think deep woods would be a good idea this time
it would be nicer to be next to water
is there any way to see if the moons out that night

Oh Good I was afraid I was the only serial Killer here
I don't eat flesh much anymore (the wife has me on a low fat diet!)
I've lived in So Cal my whole life (3ed generation Cali)
Me and The Geonagual are local trouble makers and love to stir the shit.
I play the ponies, roulette ,love old school reggae,Buddha and big hooters!
Geonagual and I sneak off South of the border (when the wives are asleep) and get fucked up and play with smooth skin Latin girls with bubble butts and drink warm Mexican beer and eat bacon wrapped hot dogs off a cart till the wee hours! (call it a pre~mid~ life ~ crisis)
I hike like a motherfucker and and enjoy Blunts,Vodka & pain pills (in that order)and the serenity of it all!
Now that's my story and I'm stick'n to it! ~HaZz
