I'd give it to them anyway if they asked nicely but it pissed me off the other day when some guy asked me for money at the gas station and I had only my bank card and thats what I payed with and I didn't even have any change and I said i was sorry and he got all, "THANKS ALOT MAM" like I was just lying about not having any money. And if I was lying about it it's MY GOD DAMN MONEY and he should consider it a privelege that I'm taking that dollar away from me and my child so he can eat/smoke/toke/or drink. But I let it go, why? Because it would be stupid to start a fight with some poor homeless guy just because he's mad at me for not giving him a dollar.
I make it a rule not to give money to anyone wearing nicer shoes than I am.
Theres this guy in Harvard Square whose always in the same spot everytime I go by, but hes also always wearing a different pair of Nikes....
i usually don't give money. Cause most of them are going to drink it away and NOT use it fo survive. It's one thing to drink (which I do) and smoke weed (wich I also do) but these people should spend the $$ on food and shelter..Anyway, thats the way I see it. I offer to buy them some food or clothing.
No, I never gave money to begging people but if I had the spare money I would..I'm a generous person but in certain situations I gotta look out for my self first, and my financial situations is no exception :p.
Yeah, a couple times I've given $20 to bums in Venice.
Oh yeah, you're not going to believe this but once, after hurricane Katrina, there were some refugees put up at a abandoned Wal-Mart here in Texas. I got $100 out of the bank and went to the Wal-Mart refugee camp and gave the bill to a thuggish lookin black dude on the other side of a chain link fence. Of course we also donated clothes, books and stuff as well.
short answer yes, Its like Pt Barnum 'Theres a sucker born every minuite u just happened to coming by at the right time'
Yeh i cant help it although in scotlandthe Big Issue makes a diff cos there street vending(if they can get the job) instead of begging
peace rips
i give em all the time. they can use chunk change and dollars more than me.
I usually tell them to take a shower, shave and go apply at micky d's, they will hire anyone, then you won't need to beg.
I still think, I should make a nice coffee table book of the homeless
it will feature them in their best pose and a small autobiography and you tell their lives thru what they tell you. Could be some funny and interesting pieces. Now, don't go stealing my idea.
Thats where i started my bike trip from... Stay away from the "Pit" LOLQuote:

last time i gave this dude 5 dollars at a bus station. he started guarding my luggage while i smoked a cig. then hes like hey u should stand in the sun its warmer there u know. i think then he was my bodyguard.
i was tripping pretty good on dxm at the time. i was listening to cradle of filth. it was great getting this homeless black dude the headphones and watching the expression turn to horror. hheh
it was a cold day, he gave me his gloves before i got on the bus.
Once in awhile. Depends on the person. Just this afternoon I gave a lady some money. I see her quite often outside the store that I go to before work. I've never given her money before but she was honest and said she needed a beer. She looked so sad and tired. Couldn't imagine living life like that.
i gave 10 dollars to a beggar in philly last month
he said he was going to do marjiuana research
and i trust that he bought some and then resarched what he bought as well as it could be researched.
Wicked story.Quote:

any change i have at the end of the night has
been going to people living on the street
almost every night
i'm pretty broke, wish i had more
but i know they are 10x worse off than i am
so i give 'em a quarter or two, and
tell them as always BE SAFE!
i gave money maby once.. but then saw him go in and get a pack of cigs and wass pissd and never gave again since he said that he needed money for a hotdog......
yesturday I was getting in my car and hussle man(thats the name of this begger that everyone in town has given something to) runs up to my car and starts trying to sell me a bag of shrimp! At least he offered something. But I dont like shrimp. So I said no thanks. Last time he offered to clean my wind shield and I said sure(even though the ink from the news paper made it even dirtier). At least hussle man is trying to work for it.
These people are stuck living on the street, and despite what many people believe, most of them are not gonna better their situation with a shower and a shave. So why shouldn't they get a little buzz on to get 'em through the night?Quote:
