day 38 veg day 10

Well, they perked up a little bit today then got lazy again later in the day.
I am fairly certain that they may be hungry again. Its obnly been 4 days since i fed them nutes. And the water level is probably down to 3.5 liters.since the tank is holding only 1 gallon, for 2 plants. The leaves feel really strong and rough when you rub them across the grain. the stalks are really girty, and the stems of leaves are thick too. Shiney and thick and waxey are the leaves.

HMMM, what should i do?

Feed them early or just put some fresh water in there.
But they are drooping, so are they over watered?
or does it look like they need nitrogen?

I'm not sure but something is not quite right.
Check your temps at the canopy level, ensure the light isn't too close.
Check and ensure pH remains correct.
I don't think they should be getting any more than a consistent 1/2 strength dose of veg nutrients.
Ensure there is more than adequate aeration of the water/nutrient mix. 24x7
Ensure there isn't re-occurring root damage.
Flush once a week.
Make sure they are getting some fresh air and fan circulation.

Too me it looks like a problem with incorrect watering, fluctuating pH, nutrients and temp.

Get all the variables under control then maintain the same regiment for a week or 2 then you will really notice the improvements.

Give us all some more details or pics on how exactly your setup is running and your maintenance of it. The more detail the better.

I'm only a hydro beginner but I'm sure the pros will offer plenty of advice once they have a better understanding of your setup. Keep posting because I can't wait to see them 100% healthy and pert.

Ok dumb question time but the water your using isn't too cold is it? that's the only thing thats made my plants wilt so it's all I can suggest ;)

day 39 veg day 11

well, its been 4 days since i fed them and changed the rez, i had put 1 gallon in each rez under the HPS.
in 4 days they have grown about 4 inches and there stalks are very girthy.
They have drunk 3 liters of water. I think my babies are thirsty. so i changed the water out and PHed it to 6.0 from 7.5 from tap. Wont add any nutes right now though. just fresh water for 2-3 days, then i will go to 3rd week of veg.
Just until internodel growth is mature enough. and the plants have reached around a foot high.. they are at the moment 9 inches high. i really think, they will exceed that standard and reach may 15 inches by next saturday.
At which time they will go to flower and probably reach 30 inches in 4 weeks.
I might have to prune.
Pretty baked atm so im just dreamin about the next few weeks to come, and about what to expect.
Man, my first grow LOL i had bought a 10watt grow light from wallys for 10 bucks, not CFL. and i had plants that were a foot high with only a few sets o leaves. now i probably have plants that are 100 times better. Cant wait.

Oh btw, when plants have leaves that are holy and looking like they been chewed but theres no bugs, What is that, ? like the plant is deformed a lil bit?

day 42 / veg day 13/ flower day 1

I let my babies sleep for 12 hours last night. I really dont want behemoth plants. I know that the growth spurt from the lack of light is like 150% the original size. so im going for 30 inch plants by the time i harvest.

I bought 2 gallons of distilled water. thinking there maybe something in my tap water. But i dont wanna have my water tested, and i dont know how to do it my self. Also, to make sure this weeks water is pure..

I will be going Sea of Green(SOG) style. So I wanna keep everything at 29 inches high. That will be low enough from the light, at the lights max height.
So in doing this I need to cut out the 3rd week of Veg.Week 3 veg would have been 12ml of Grow, 6mls of micro and3mls of bloom. Instead i will add 8mls of grow. and keep the others the same. and foliear feed again.

Hence the reason I started the Flower period now.They are already 10 inches high With really strong roots and trunks. Huge leaves and lots of internodel growth. maybe one or 2 of these will be male. and I will have to make a few clones to plug the gaps , so I really wanna get to it. I figure that i can get away with 7 inches of growth going horizontal under the chicken wire. Thats gunna be a challange.
Any ways im going togo feed my plants now . its around 12:00 5/9/06..

Ok on the right tank right side they had 1.75 liters left in the rez outta 4 liters from 2 nights ago. they are drinking really fast about 1 liter a day. I have changed out that water and added 1 gallon of distilled water with 8mls of grow and 6mls of micro and 10mls of bloom. 2 drops of super thrive and 40mls of diamond nectar, lemme go check the PH.. ok after starting at 6.0 ph it was down to 5.5 so i added some pH up and its now 6.3. Im happy with that.

The left tank right side has 1.75 liters left in rez aswell with the ph at 6.8.
So I am putting in 1 gallon of the same solution as above except that I screwed up and put 8 of micro on accident. adjusted pH at 6.5.

Then i foliar fed them with the remaining solution of diamond necture top and bottom of leaves.

I added 1 gallon of tap water to the left side tank added same nutes as right side tanks. make them happy too:rasta: :stoned:

you might have seen my post saying that i broke the trunk on one of them, the one I pruned awhile ago.(MY FAVORITE PLANT) Well, I twist tied it and marked the cut with a marker. it should heal nicely with in the week. I cant believe i did that.:rasta:

didnt change anything, plants dont seem to be getting worse and growth is still booming. still wish they wouldnt droop so much. The temp at the canopy is around 88-94 without the fan on in front. really nothing to report atm.
But I have been getting used to this routine, and I am so used to having to fix something. I'ts kinda weird not haveing a problem. so I"ll just post some picks.

The first one im trying for a bonzai look. Its one of my slow starters and am having fun with her.

It would be a good idea to topp them ladies...it will give you a even canopy. Better canopy means better light consentration witch means BIGGER BUDS!

Since you are entering flowering mode, you MUST fix those light leaks if you haven't already. Otherwise, you'll have all hermaphrodites, or no bud.

What kind of cabinet do you have there? It looks like my C13.

You need to get a blower; preferably 265 CFM rated. Also, see if you can air-cool your lights via the blower.

Also, make sure your water is below your netpots, not touching the netpots.

I only have very tiny leaks , but from cab to cab the light is stopped. When the lights are on the doors are open. when the lights are off the doors are closed. Ive read that if a leak is equivilant to the moon than its ok. could be wrong.
The cabinet i bought from home depot for 118 bucks and its a 48 inch utility closet.
And yes, i really need to work on the ventilation and cooling of the light. would love to get one of those tubes and jimmy rig it around the light.

And as far as the net pots touching the water...
Well i have very good roots and they have been stong throughout the entire grow.

This is what I am talking about...Cut the top shoot off even w/ the node. Then you have 2 shoots and that makes the canopy mor even. Top the shoots that are taller than the rest.

day 48, veg day 19, flower day 7

12:05 AND ALLS WELL!!
These pics are actually yesterday. I didn't do anything to them, they had about 1.5 liters still in the well. when these pics were taken and i fell asleep and didnt fill the rezzes. Mistake, not so bad though, i got there in time.
then when i got home from work, i still didnt feed water them, then about 2 hours ago, i decided to look in the rezzes and they were bone dry.
But the roots were still moist and healthy not dried.
So i added 1 gallon in each rez and added some h2o2 4 mls of it and 3 drops of superthrive and had to pH it to 6.0. I added no nutes. I then re SLT'ed and spread everything out. I have counted at least 70 tips.alott are under and small , but at least half are getting very good light and are growing fast and catching up to the rest of the plant as far as hieght. the plants are really bent over good. allowing max light penetration. ill put more pics from today in after this

the left side is growing really good too, here is the pic of the plant i topped 2 days ago for fun. also look at the broken stem above. i taped it up with electrical tape, the plant hasnt seemed effected by the fracture. growth is still fast and strong. I definately will not have enough room for all these if they all turn out to be female. I will take all the best femmes and put them on the right side and kill the rest and make clones. that should take 14-20 days and then another 2 weeks of veg on those. and that wont even happen till i get a Sex on everything. which i feel will happen with in 14 days mostlikely 7 days. ill feed them more food on monday for my 2nd week of bloom phase. i will add 3mls grow, 7mls micro and 12mls of bloomand finally 20 more nls of daimond necture, per tank.

OK, I have good news and bad news.

I think i have 3 males and 1 female. and those are the ones on the right side.
Not quite sure about the left side yet.
But if i have 1 female and ill know for sure in a few more days. then i only need to clone a few. That will increase my first harvest time, but will help in getting the perpetual harvest going. Since i gotta take clones, This should slow me down by upto 3-4 weeks. 7-21 days to root and 7-14 days to veg before flower. I really hope i have another female somewhere. would love to be in the 5 week of flowering with it by the time my clones are ready to add to the 12/12 side. so ill have about 5 weeks left to flower when i add the clones in and then it will be 10 weeks from there.

Anyways here are the pics i took, try to look at the little ball sacks near the node.
The first pic is the female i think, the pistles are very small atm, but will get bigger and longer in a day or 2

You might have some males on your case, shitty buzz mate.

yeah 15 hours later and they are growing bigger balls i think. gunna givem another 4-5 days to be sure. as im not too good at sexing them. bout 95% sure though. Anyways i made some cloners that i hope will work. only have 3 ports so ill double up on it and put 2 clones in each.i wanna just fill the whole tup with hydro and the net pots also then just plunk the clones in there.fill the water about a half inch with a air stone oxidizing..

Was thinking of using perlight, but that could get messy. also read about sand, but it being to fine it would just fall outta the net pots. and i dont have any of those plugs.
Maybe someone can recommend a common house hold item i can use to make a plug that wont comprimise the clones health:confused:

Home-made and simple, tell me what you think. now, i should not let the clones touch the water. correct? and i can use a very mild gh part 3 mix?

And i also have cloning gel. I do not have any ANTI-WILT solution. Is Diamond necture from GH a good substitute?

Now giving the wilt, Im pretty sure zandor has a thread some where on the site of how to mix an anti-wilt solution, I could be wrong though:stoned:

in the FAQ section "CLONING 101" ZANDOR HAS A SPRAY SYSTEM SET UP, BUT ITS ALSO LIKE A FOOT DEEP. sorry for the caps. my cloner is only gunna be 4 inches deep and the water like 1 inch high and the tip of the stem will be 1 inch above the water. I will have airstones keeping it oxidized and splashing water up to the root site. it will be pretty humid in there, and i think the roof will be kept pretty wet. no?

But if i have to submerge the roots in the water then i will.

If you are going to grow for seeds at any stage then check out the faqs. There is a helpful guide for creating feminized seeds.

Be careful with the males. The pre-flowers can open very quickly.

Hey foxbird, always here to help.

Ya know you never want to throw away a good MJ plant, even if its male, but once you get them females you wont think twice about ditching the male. Unless of course you want to breed.

Anyway if you want to look more into breeding here's the link in the FAQ, it does show the difference between male and female. Males have tiny pollen sacs, minimum ammount at first but many towards the end of the plants life, females have tiny white pistons wich later turn into resin glands if not polinated.

The female is still in there. and i moved the big one on the left to the right. Give it some good light.
Kinda depressed about this. now i gotta clone and wait even longer.

52days/23 veg days/11 flower days
Now has to be changed. so its more like day 52/veg day 23/flower day 2.since i killed the 3 males that i know of, i have put the one female back on the left side to revert it back to veg. i will keep her at 24/0 and i moved the big guy from the left side to the flower side and put it at 12/12, need to sex this one now. I still have 3 babies that have been real slow in veg also. I will try to sex them in a week or so. but at the moment I am letting my one femme get really big. However, tommorrow i will take 4 or less clones off her, then take the rest a week later to let her heal up from this cutting. Maybe by then i will have some rooted clones to start up on flowering. after a week or so of them vegging of course.
So in a week or 2 weeks i can realistically have 1 or 2 clones with roots and a week later i could haveup to 15. if my cloner works. and if i do it right. or i could have 15 wilted clones and maybe have an idea if i have another femme.
Also , ill have the 3 little guys in the back at a respectable size and put them into flower. I just fed them all according to there stage. and im baked:stoned: so i dont know whayt i wrote or what i was thinking. or forgot.
so ill talk to yus in 20 hours. ciao

I just took 8 clones from the femme. and after reading in the FAQ "cloning 101" zandor explained it all pretty plainly. So i have every confidence in these guys forming roots.
And since i am sure these will root, i have decided to be an idiot and put her back into flower. I am being very impatient, and wanna see progress. I dont like being idol and am so impressed with this grow so far , compared to my first grow. that, really wanna get to seeing buds and harvesting.

So here are a few pics of what i have been doing.

Shouldnt fail, but did you apply any of the wilting cream thats in Zandors 101 cloning? I do believe its in there , if not its most definte in the Grow FAQ, Im positive haha.

There coming out to be some nice plants, and those clones will make up for the loss's of the other males that coulda been females.

yeah i didnt have any anti wilt solution, so i used Diamond necture from GH and sprayed the leaves down. since it makes the leaves waxy and it fortifies them really well i figured that would be a good substitute. Maybe even a breakthrough discovery for cloners, if noone has ever tried it. it will make for a nice discussion.

Anyways the clones wilted within an hour of putting them in the cloner and under the lights. but then perked right up in a few hours. and today they look great except 1 thats still droopy and another i had to remove just hours after i put it in there.
I will put pics in later.
