The role of the father in the family structure has been destroyed by the courts, radical feminism, and the so-called men that allowed, or helped, this situation to happen
It is obvious that these young people are hurting... many of them have no families so they form their own.
Exactly my point. Fortunately, that trend has been contained a little, lately.
When young people encounter both personal and institutional racism the risks are increased they will become violent. When groups of people are denied access to power, privileges, and resources, they will often form their own anti-establishment group
The personal and institutional racism is often caused by race-based affirmative action, quotas, and other erroneous policies. My wife used to work in the personnel dept. of an investment company. They wanted to hire more minorities, but they hardly even showed up to apply.
A sense of hopelessness can result from being unable to provide for your family. Young people living in poverty may find it difficult to meet basic physical and psychological needs which can lead to a lack of self-worth.
Until you DO some things, you don't deserve "self-worth". It is not something that people are "born" with - it must be attained. Starting a family without the financial means to provide for them is stupid. I didnâ??t do it, and Iâ??m glad. I had of obstacles to overcome,, and didnâ??t turn to violent criminal acts, or create more misery by having kids that I couldn't afford.
They come from homes where they feel alienated or neglected. Risks increase when the community fails to provide sufficient youth programs or alternatives to violence.
The "community" is not responsible for providing these alternatives. We played in the streets, and lived through it. We didnâ??t have "youth programs" back then, and we learned a lot about life, and the real world, without them.
Educational loans have been cut, foodstamp programs have been cut, medicaid cut, after school programs cut, Conflict resolution programs gone, education and training programs gone, headstart cut, these are all directly related to a youth's positive development.
These programs have been cut because they did not work. Every year, New York City has summer jobs for high school-age youth, and most kids wonâ??t even take the jobs. I learned how to go out, get jobs, and work before I was 14, after school & weekends, and got working papers at 14 years old. The kids today wonâ??t do it â?? old men are now delivering the newspapers, and shoveling snow for people in the winter, while youngsters get fat sitting around playing video games (and those are the GOOD ones).
The infrastructure of this country is crumbling.. Corporate salaries 10 or 15 years ago averaged 20 times the blue collar workers. Now they are 400 times it...
I'd like to see where that number comes from. Very few people make even close to 400 times the average blue collar wage. If the "average" blue collar salery is 35 grand a year, then 400 times that is 14 million. A VERY small amount of people make that kind of money.
There have always been gangs that is nothing new...and there will always be gangs as long as there is this huge gap between the rich and the poor and a society that would rather whine and bitch and call names instead of facing the real problem the inept leadership, and corrupt corporations that are running this country.
