this is just my observation but its wierd to see what war does to men. In your case its made you hate the army and fight against what it stands for, but for me its made me hold it closer to my heart and want it even more. Its really a cool thing to see the different reactions from everyone who has experienced war. I dont hold any of your opinions against you Twinshadows, I instead hope to learn from them someday. I regret nothing i have done and i would do them all over again if given the chance, but then again i respect that you served and now you choose to speak against serving. I can say if you do not believe in what you are fighting for, it's hard to see your leaders as a friend and not the enemy. Maybe I am wrong and WMD will show up one day but for now.

I served my country and obeyed my orders, just because you do not agree with the president does not mean you go back on your word of following his every order. I support every soldier over there, I have friends over there. I just felt like I was lied to on why we were there, but as our commander said, "it was still the right thing to do" but that is not why we were there Bush. Tell congress that before you go o war.

my daughter was a marine as was her husband. I am not insulting the military you evidently did not read the whole link. How can you not see a problem with the military taking a kid from his home without his parent knowing? Do you have any children?

By resorting to trickery which they ARE DOING...that is why the Army had to close all recruiting offices and re-train their recruiters...or did you miss that too?

Scarlett is right in saying some people do need to be told what to do. The military is good for a lot of people. The fact that they volunteered is admirable.
but the military should not resort to the tactics they have been using as it gives the military a bad image they do not need at this time.
And if people think they are tricked into joining their heart will not be in "protecting" anyone...including the back of that soldier that chooses to be there..

Bluecat the military is nothing you should hide from. Like Hydrizzle said, you still need to sign those papers before they have you. It really bothers me when i read posts like this. People who will serve or have served deserve your respect. When you make stupid threads like this, all youre doing is undermining our past, present and future soldiers.

I never said hide from the military nor do I imply it! I was just posting a heads up as to what the Army "recruiters" are pulling. No one has given our soldiers more respect than I.
I currently write to several soldiers that are in Iraq and Afghanistan. I work with many soldiers that don't agree with the war but they are true to their service and their country.
Bush set the standard for questioning anything this administration does with his 'You are either with us or against us attitude...
Don't conform to the present day adage that to question anything is disloyal or unpatriotic...

No one cares more about our soldiers than the mothers that brought them in to this world trust me.
We are hearing casualties reports but never injuries...why does that not bother anyone?
I hear of the injuries everyday. thousands and thousands of severely injured.
My son is there in the OR tents putting the injured back together so I do know what is happening over there...

he was 18. He was not a kid, he signed papers without reading them...if he wasn't interested in joining why did he keep leading the serge on with taking theses tests and talking to him? I would have been one pissed off recruiter too. I feel for him, but he brought it on himself. I have helped set up recruiting booths within the last few months actually, and our orders were not to waste time with anyone that did not come to us first. Get your facts straight.
