Yeah when I was a little kid I was taking a pee in my back yard and one stung my weiner. Ever since then they make me really uncomfortable, if not terrified.Quote:

This thread made me realize something about myself. I've had phobias, and maybe, due to a militant, spartan upbringing, have only the one now, to be ....helpless.
Afraid of the dark; the Great Santini (I mean my father) taught me to confront the fear and see it as an advantage. When I was too young to reason it out, I believed that the spooks, boogies, whatever, couldn't see any better than I could, so learning to navagate, percieve, and attack in the dark was a skill to be learned.
Fear of heights: I jumped out of airplanes and it never became an issue.
Fear of drowning: snorkeling and scuba diving taught me that if you're not trapped underwater, you'd be able to survive for hours, maybe days in the water.
Fear of people: an old injury seems to have destroyed the part of my brain that controls embarassment, and social awkwardness; I just don't seem to care. Some martial arts training and a youthful interest in street brawling got me over the fear of having my face bashed; it's not as intimidating once you've tried it a couple of times, plus learning how to bash back helps a lot.
I hate being stung by wasps and so on, but learned the momentary pain passes pretty soon.
Fear of failure: Oops, I'm not so sure about that. Do I try to overachieve because I want the rewards, or is it a phobia that I'm not willing to admit? I don't quite know.
Spiders: I shoot them on sight, but the thought of one getting at me when I'm not aware of it bothers me. Those brown recluse spider bites look really horrible.
Yes, being unable to defend myself is a real phobia. The thought of going down fighting doesn't seem to be so terrible, but the thought of actually being defenseless creeps me out. I don't have a house full of weapons, but enough. What bothers me is the thought of somebody getting into the place, and I can't get to my faithful .380 auto. Or what if I go to double tap some armed burgler and the gun jams or hangs fire?
Fear of death: It can't be that hard, anybody can do it. Maybe the helplessness of a slow lingering death, that sounds repulsive. Or a messy violent one, wouldn't want to end up on Faces of Death XIII or whatever, that would be embarassing.

Fear of being alone: Hell, we're all alone, in the most basic sense.
lmao noosa, haha i laughed for a few minutes at that one :)
I hate bugs, creepy crawlers, I just moved to phoenix, AZ and I am so scared to see a scorpion, havent seen one yet, but will freak when i do, oh and snakes, havent seen one yet either, but i will be worse if i see that one!!!! ill. i moved from niagara falls, did not have anything there but misquitos, i mean of coarse, bees, flys, ants, but really nothing else, so i know i am in for it in phoenix!!!! i might be packing back up in few months if i see some, haha j/k. well, i got in car the other day and this huge ass flying bug, who the hell knows what it was, but is was bigger then a quarter and really big wings, was in the car, i noticed it when i was backing the car up and it came flying right toward my face, i screamed soooo loud and put car in park and jumped out, i waited for like a 1/2 hr for the damn thing to fly out, i wouldnt get back in there, no way, it was going to kill me, hahahahaha. anyways i was late going to my grandmothers to eat, but they understood, lol, damn bugs!!! But it was huge never seen nothing like it!
McCauley Caulkins phobias are hieghts, roaches, porcelain dolls, and the paparrazzi

I don't really have any real phobies, but I have a strong dislike for things such as moths and other flying insects - If I know there's one in the house I have to track it down and throw it out the window (I don't kill stuff).. same with spiders.
I have a few obsessive compulsions, though... like I have to have the curtains shut if I turn a light on; If I take my shoes off I have to put them perfectly next to eachother; If I have just cooked something and turned the cooker off I have to wait five minutes and go and check it again; I wash my hands/teeth/face compulsively all the time; blah blah blah. :)
Yeah thats funny cause I don't kill bugs either. The exception being ants, I just HATE ants and for everyone I kill there is like 5 to take its place.Quote:
