Straight-Edges

The sXe movement is essentially a counter movement to this "peer pressure" bullshit the government fed into young innocent minds. I don't understand how anybody could just hate a substance, a fucking chemical so much that they would harm any users of that substance and probably incur more damage than the substance itself. Then there is the whole controversy of what makes a drug unsuitable for human consumption. Caffeine and acetaminophen for example are not generally considered 'drugs' though they both kill more people yearly than marijuana, mushrooms and LSD ever have combined.
Such simple facts are not recognized by our government nor even suggested in health or drug awareness classes.
I know some 'straight-edge' dudes that dont seem to express such hate, I can even joke about blazing with some of them. Having read the lyrics of some proclaimed 'sXe' bands I must question their intent or whatever it is that inspires them to loathe substances they have not tried and know virtually nothing about.
