There's lots and lots to learn, man. Marijuana plants are very sensitive and it's a legendary fact that they're hard to grow. The best thing you can do is develop a healthy root system (some people do this with ("teas")) and the environment (heat, humidity, ventilation) has to be controlled. Lots (or any) fluctuations in environment can slow the growth of your plant immensely. Night temps (during veg) should be 5-10 deg less (but not lower than 60 deg) than day temp to influence female hormones to flourish.

can some plz explain to me what flushing is i was reading up on it but still unsure on wen to do it or how to do it.... also i was wondering when should i start flowering i was thinking maybe around the 5th week that i would turn them over to the 12/12 stage..
You turn to 12/12 lighting when the plant is sexually mature (search this on the web). Sexually mature means you will see female pistils at the branch/stem nodes and when you get alternating branch nodes (asymmetric branch nodes) then it's ready to go to (12/12) flowering. (Look for diagrams on the web to help you.)
Flushing is not only used to get rid of excess nutrients (if you think that's a problem ie. burnt fan leaves). Salts build up in the soil after a while, growth can stagnate and nutrients can be "locked-out" (chemicals are binding to the nutrients preventing them from being used by the plant). Then you want to flush out the salts with clean water. "Lock-out" can happen anytime during the growing cycle.

I use Miracle Grow which is a 24-8-16 mix
Commercial nutrients are packed with salt so avoid them.
I use a pH Pen ($25) from Amazon that works great. Calibrate the pen with 7.0 solution. And learn how to increase/decrease pH if pH falls out of range.
I'm on my 5th grow and still run into many problems with plants and end up with no results. Start with pure Indicas, they are easier to grow than Indica/Sativa hybrids.

Thanks cool... I'm jus be havin some luck because I use the MG mix an also have there bloom to.... I think I have the right conditons but they could be better this is jus my first try n my closet... My temp is around 82 during the day an goes down to about 78 at night thatis the main thing I'm worried about so moniter that a lot. Soil is at abot 6.8 to 7.2 I don't have a digtal meter.....

These are diagrams of female/male preflowers and alternating nodes. I've read plants can tolerate up to 90 deg temps.
Growery - Optimal Humidity (rH) and Temperature Ranges for Cannabis
Optimal Temperature:Between 70-85 degrees Fahrenheit (21 - 29 degrees Celsius).
Optimal Humidity: 60-70% rH for vegetative growth. 40-60% rH during flowering (lower rH helps to reduce the risk of fungal contamination on your already moist dank buds).
Night temperatures should be kept above 60 degrees to prevent stress. It is preferable during flowering to have a night temperature drop of 10-20 degrees to stimulate flowering hormones and reduce stem elongation.
If you are supplementing your grow space with additional carbon dioxide (CO2), your target daytime temperature should be between 80 - 90 degrees (F), until the last two weeks of flowering when daytime temps should be kept about 10 degrees lower and CO2 can be reduced to adjust for the lower metabolic rate of the mature plant.

a cool this might be a bone head question but i dont know the answer so im going to ask. ok none of my plants have alternating nodes... they are all even with each other. is this a sign of a problem or a lack of something that im am not giving my ladies enough water, air circulation, or co2 or something could u please help me out.... im making a trip to my local lowes today to get some more cfls so just let me know

no problem, it's just a matter of time. Best results are usually when the plant is in it's most natural state. But sometimes we have our own schedules and ideas about how big we'd like to see the plants. So we start 12/12 early. Some sativa grows start 12/12 right from seed. Usually about six weeks you will see preflowers and alternating nodes in hybrid strains. I just did this with my plants, starting 12/12 before preflowers and alternating branches. They matured within days of the flip.

i have a question for my fellow growers that follow me on here..... i started my ladies out in 4 inch squares then transplantd them into the pots they are in now.... i was wondering if the pots that they are in are too small or do i need to transplant them again into bigger homes..i have 9 in deep pots just incase but im not sure if the pots they are in now are fine for the flower stage to my ladies are only 18 days old an the biggest one is almost 9 inchs tall will take pics an post them in the am... i planned on starting the flowering stage when they are around 16 inchs tall... if anyone can help me out would be most appericated

You can transplant that big one. If it looked like it was rootbound?...you can do the rest.

[quote=mkworld]ok thank u pimp but wat the hell,is rootbound?
Roots fill out up, if given long enough, they can start to grow in a circular pattern in pot and even strangle the plant, talk about chokein the chicken!! usually seen by roots leaving the pot, bottom first.
-
My First Grow Ever can i get some feedback.......
and if you wait too long and transplant the roots still stay tied up and don't spread out like they should...
-

Mk, 1st off bang up job from my vantage. 2, if in doubt just take the time & transplant. Personally @ 5 weeks with the same type pots & if I look closely there are some roots poking thru the drainage holes. Giddy up hombre.

Sorry so sad. Picture just triggered a memory. Use to party with a crew from Maine. :rasta: it's the roots Mon - the roots is where it all happens, Mon - is the soul of the plant, Mon. Good times!!
Myself, I don't have many in pots more than 4 months, so not much root ball. Don't even know extraction method. And l love a well shaped leaf

Attachment 291819
This boy popped early.
The leaves are still growing opposite.
They are symmetrical.
Two branches at each node.
Indicates that it is still vegging.
Attachment 291820
When they are really ready to flower, the branches will begin to alternate.
They sprout from one side of the main stem, then the other side.
Hence the word, alternate. :)
Give them a little more time.:)
I keep mine vegging as long as they can by keeping their nights short. (18:6)
Eventually, they all go alternate at about 3 or 4 feet tall.
And some will double in height during flowering.
So, plan ahead.
Aloha,
Weezard
