Ok, the color change you watch for occurs, not on the "hairs" but on the crystals when looked at under magnification, do you just look at top or average the plant, in deciding pick time.
if you look at the pic just above your post, its the little water tower shaped things or mushroom if that makes it easier. they turn an amber color.
If I go back to weezard pics posts, and your own modified tripod pics, I can see your mushroom shapes.
(The most magnification I've used in ahh my years is my 2x reading glasses, and I need them now days just to trim, and read this board.)
Back to topic, your shapes are what I see as sparkle or Crystal? Stupid question, I know, but I'm trying. When you see this color change, on a magnified level. I assume it is most evident on the top and matures from the top down? In my perpetual garden, I'll take a top and let the bottom get better. But in the tent I'm thinking, clean it out, when the time is right.
yeah exactly it looks like sugar been sprinkled on it. trichs are just like the leaves they form on, the older they are the more you will see amber on them. newer growth will have newer trichs so they will be clear or milky.
there is no "rule" except your own. when the over all average is showing a fair percentage of ambering, thats when i take them unless im looking to keep myself asleep when i cant otherwise then i let them go a bit longer.
mostly clear will get you not much more than a short lived buzz or a headache generally. milky, milky with amber,=yummy. mostly amber means nite nite.
just about any digital camera set to its highest resolution will take a good enough pic to get a better view of the trichs when you enlarge it some.
:greenthumb: thank you much!
Is this picture good enough for an evaluation? Attachment 292105

I'm glad you guys explained the amber thing with the trichs -- I would be going by the amber in the "hairs" otherwise. Looks like I still have a ways to go, but I'd really like to go into harvest mode within the next two weeks and I'm thinking I'm done with feeding (pH adjusted water from here on out). Think I'll chop a small bud just to dry & try - it's all real sticky. Above all, this growing stuff is a bit of an exercise in patience, no?
Lower leaves looking pretty stressed and haven't seen any vertical growth in over a week. Gotta be getting close, right?
They don't look that close to me. Indoor plants usually loose many of their bottom leaves and change colors, like autumn leaves. Gold, yellow, purple, red colors mean senescent, they are dying. Nice green plants like yours are not a good sign that there are ready. If the trichs are ready then you used too much nitrogen during flowering and the smoke may not be the best. I had this happen my last grow. I noticed a real lack of odor and flavor. Your buds look wonderful though, I hope they can finish up nicely.
It is an educational experience, that is well worth the ride. Love don't come easy
Love the sticky, smoke some scissor hash for me.
Thanks, shov. Trichs still look pretty clear to me (right at 6 weeks in flower). Been trying to rush things a bit because if I can't harvest pretty soon, I'm going to have to put the whole thing on autopilot for awhile. I've got a system worked up where I can water the plants automatically (pH adjusted water only, no food). Kind of want to try that anyway.
