Why should life have any meaning? Because it would be a bummer if it doesn't? Sorry, that doesn't quite cut it for me. That just isn't a reason to believe it. There is just as much reason to believe that you are God, and all this is only your imagination. Although that could have some negative consiquinces is you're wrong. One nice thing about dying, we will know, if only for a second.
...I disagree with andruejaysin, but do feel it is a waste to obsess on thoughts. I don't know how things came to be or what's to come of it all, but I do believe that when I die I will be dead. The impact I left will be all that remains of me, time to try some coke.

well anyway what i meant is that u make your own meaning to life, even if in the very end theres no meaning.
i dont "want" or "need" a meaning to life, but its just strange to see all this leads to "nowhere". i mean i could die and "reincarnate" or still live as a soul, but even there there would be no meaning. i just think its strange, but that doesnt mean its bad
the meaning of life is to further the advancement of the human race. Thats what we are biologically programmed to do.
Well no one knows the meaning of life, so we make our own. Don't let your life go to waste, do at least one good thing with it before you die. You won't regret it. :D
Here , Here, Kid Dynamite , enough of the egomaniacal existentialist meandering ;). Just kidding guys I do the same :). But in all reality our search for meaning is really only our own selfish hubris telling us were more important than "other things".
Shortly after I was confirmed Catholic, I lost my faith. I went into a coma and the first time someone asked me that question after that, I said yes. After it happened a couple times, I realized that I had lost my faith before the coma.
It's weird because I came out of it on All Saints' Day.
i hate to say it, but the ultimate meaning of life is just that...to live it and expirence it cuz it only last 80 or so years and then your have an eternity of nothing...what scares me most is never seeing and being with my family again, i really do wish we are all wrong and there is some sort of heaven...
reincarnation, heaven, some sort of eternal consciousness would be nice for those who desire it. personally, I find eternity in oblivion after such a short period of existence disturbing. there's so much to be experienced, so little time.Quote:

That's a great attitude to have on a message board... I was gonna explain what I meant. You know, have a DISCUSSION about it, but nah.
Going to church really taught me meaning of life. Bible has all the rules and laws we should follow. It's so much easier to make our own rules and ideas to justify our wrong doings to others. I'm just beginner with christianity and I'm seeing how much answers bible holds for us to be happy. It took me 39 yrs to get here to start knowing god. I couldn't really believe in god before because I didn't see the proof, well now I see so much proof. Keep asking and look for people who are happy and content, most of them are christians.
