Interesting re-veg stuff. Never tried that... i would think I would get more bud from a fresh grow. but interesting nonetheless !

So I have decided to up my game a little in the tent.
I will be keeping the Pro-Grow 260 of course but instead of the 80w of 2700k CFL I will be using 65w x 4 :) So that will be 190w of LED and 260w of CFL.
I will be keeping the 4 x 20w CFL until the plants become large enough to warrant the 4 x 65w. To increase the intensity of the CFL I bought 4 x stainless steel mixing bowl. (21cm D x 10cm H)
I'll drill 20mm holes in the bottoms of the bowls so I can attach them to the light battons.
I will hang the 4 x 65w out of the top of the tent directly over each of my 4 plants. This will focus more light on each plant and keep the nodes good and short.
I'm hoping this addition will create a much higher yield in the end. I think I will have a great grow tent when they are installed with plenty of light.
Has anyone here mixed LED and CFL in such wattages ? Would love to hear about it. I think 190w LED and 260w CFL are plenty for a 3 x 3 tent.
Re: LED Grow Log under the Pro-Grow 260, 2xBlueCheese, 1xBigBang,1xChronic! Yummy !
Hey All !
So it's time for another update on my LED + CFL grow ! And things are looking fine fine fine !!!
Things are getting rather exciting now at the 67 days old marker and 24 days of official bloom. I could see some tiny hairs 33 days ago but it took the ladies a week or so to really kick off into bloom. I wait until I can clearly see the pistils in a few areas on the plants as their hormones are changing slowly, so when the blooming hormones are in full effect I call it bloom time.
My 4 x 65w, 2700k CFLs arrived today and the tent is so much brighter. The lamps themselves are surprisingly very large as you can see by the pictures. They are about 25cm long and 13cm wide. When I unzip my tent it's like opening up a pirates treasure chest now :) A golden glow shines out through the zips ! I installed them today and they will be running for another 6 - 8 weeks. I'm not sure if I want them running for too many weeks as 450w might be expensive over time. I don't want to raise any eye brows if you know what I mean. Luckily they are only on 12 hours per day. I think they are going to make a massive difference to the yield in the end. The tent is illuminated from top to bottom so the plants will be soaking it all up. I have increased the speed of my extractor fan as I think there will be a lot more heat in the tent now. It will be important to find the correct extractor speed to keep the temperature at a comfortable constant.
I hope you like the pictures. I think the bud growth will be much stronger with the new CFLs. Those CFLs and my Pro-Grow 260 will blow these plants away ! I can't wait to see the yield off these plants. I wonder would the light I am producing from 450w give better results than 450w of HPS ? Any idea on this guys and gals ? Would love to hear your opinions...

looking good lad. they are the same type cfl's as i've been using. questions for you, what size fan/carbon filter are you using. i'm starting to have a problem with odour's.
I use the Can9000 carbon filter.
There are a few places to buy them in Ireland. I went to a regular horticultural online shop for mine.
Shop around and see what sort of a price you can get. I prefer to do my best to order within Ireland so customs don't have a chance to check it.
I think I paid about â?¬70 - 80 for the filter. Money well spent ! I tried those odorsock types too but they didn't work too well for me. Not for long anyway.
Get an extractor fan speed controller on eBay too so you can adjust the speed of the air being sucked through your filter. Carbon filters like air that is drawn slowly through it.
Be sure you invest in a good filter... Stealth growing depends on it... The scent of weed can be detected by the most noobish of noses... Be careful !
If you go through my first grow you will see a whole section on carbon filters. I think I even gave a link to it.
If you have any more questions let me know.
Hey guy and gals.
We are at day 31 of bloom, my last grow under my LED took 13 - 14 weeks of bloom to finish so there is still 2.5 monthts to go !
2.5 months of bloom, bloom and more bloom !
They are horny as hell and producing lots and lots of beautiful lady bits hoping that their 'very fertile' prince would come into the tent and service them all heh heh !! :)
I don't have it in me to tell them that there won't be any males of their species around just in case they hermie on me ! I did wipe a little pollen on some areas of the lower buds.
I'm very surprised with the buds right now, they are filling out very, very quickly. There is a marked difference in the size since the previous week.
In comparison to the same time in my last grow the buds are much bigger and they are also denser. I think the 260w of CFL have made a difference.
I have decided to feed the plants a little less than the last grow. I think I had a magnesium deficiency due to over fertilization. I use the seaweed and tomato fert and bat guano.
The last feed 3 days ago was 4 heaped tea spoons of bat guano in 10 litres of water. I will be keeping a close eye on the plants so to figure out the best feeding cycles and amounts.
I harvested a very large amount of weed last grow and I think I will be harvesting twice that this time round ! Bring on the 1GPW baby !!! Whoop Whoop :) (hopefully) !

Hey SL just wanted to say that they are looking beautifully I had a quick question are you using any co2 for your grow or no and also people tell me that led is not good for flower reproduction obviously you are proving that to be false. I grow cfl all the way but am considering to get an led setup where did u buy yours
Hey Kali
I only started using CO2 yesterday, I was waiting for the parts to arrive. You can see my DIY CO2 and DIY reflectors for CFL in the DIY section.
The only other part I will need is a bubbler for the CO2. A bubbler creates an air lock so oxygen can't mix with the atmosphere in the Milk carton.
I'm using Turbo Yeast which is said to produce more CO2 than regular yeast at room temperature.
Even when I close the valve and shake the milk carton I can see the milk carton fill with CO2, I have to open the valve in seconds or the carton will explode.
On the subject of LED lighting, I use the Pro-Grow 260. It's a great light and you can check it out on hydroponics Hut dot com. It's really a great work horse.
It draws about 190w, even though it has the '260' in its name. I used this LED primarily in my first grow log (in my signature) with just 80w of CFL for heat purposes.
This grow I added 260w of 2700k CFL (4x65w) but only during bloom to give the plants that extra kick. And holy crap that's exactly what they got ! CFL and LED are a great combo...
My grow space is 90cm x 90cm and the Pro-Grow 260 is just right. It's advertised for 5 plants, I have 4 in my tent. The guy who makes these advertises realistically, which is more than I can say for most of the other LED manufacturers... They offer free postage to Europe from the U.S. and I think a 3 year warranty ! I sometimes chat with the guy by email, a really nice fella and is always there to answer my questions... I don't think I would ever shop anywhere else. Check out the new X5 LED from them, it's a new model and I would kill for one of them !
When I move apartment sometime and I get a bigger tent I'll get one for sure. I'll keep the Pro-Grow 260 for vegging, I'm never gonna give that light up ;)
So glad you are enjoying the grow, stay tuned for more weekly updates. Let me know if you get in contact with Hydroponics Hut, ask for Benjamin and tell him the Irish LED Logger sent you ;)
Take Care buddy

Hey,
So helped my friend get her grow room started. It's looking great and the little seedlings are just 1 week old by now.
Seriously guys, this Pro-Grow 400 is a demon ! I can almost hear the cells divide in the plants ! The tent is a Secret Jardin 4' x 4' x 7'. Extractors and fans are set up but a better carbon filter will be needed soon. It's an attic grow so fresh air was a bit of an issue but we decided, rather than drill holes in a rented house, we would just leave the hatch open and I brought some flexible duct over to the hatch to pull in fresh air from the house. We will see how things go and if they are looking like fresher air is necessary then hole will be drilled.
So there are 8 plants that will be vegged in about 3 - 4 weeks. In 5 weeks we will know what sex they are and the bad boys will be killed... but not before I get some pollen for my ladies
I'll take pollen from only the strongest males to keep the genes strong. I'm not looking for many seeds, just 20 or 30 for a possible outdoor next year.
So here is her new set-up:

How you doing SL well I like the set up great job. And I decided that because of the limit of my space I will be getting the pro grow 260. Really appreciate the help thanx. — kalidank
Great to hear we have a brand new LED fan :) Well done, I certainly don't think you will regret buying it. Let the guy know at Hydroponics Hut that I sent you :) The Irish grow journal guy, he'll know who you are talking about. Maybe you might get a discount, he is a nice guy like that.Quote:

No doubt SL seeing the results from your first and now second grow I noe I will not have any regrets with it. I will be getting it soon just have to collect more cash for it and some other supplies. I need like inline fan which I need 2 and other things
Well SL ya may be surprised with the re veg's and if you can get them outside they get huge. Had i not have gotten ripped off i would have got at least 3-4 more lbs. And if ya like a certain plant after taking a few buds, you can just take your harvest [buds] and leave the the leaf. Put your lights back on a veg cycle and ya have a mom for clones, very easy.Quote:

But was pretty surprised with the grow as once i raised the plants up to the lights gave me some nice dank buds. So if ya know of anyone who wants them let me know. Man iv started as a mod at a very cool site called Cannabis Gardens dot ya know. You should come on in and get a LED grow on there, we are new but growing, lol. I need to get a grow cab so i can grow here, its just to small for my tent and thats why im selling them, maybe ebay or craigslist.
Nice grow man, i will be watching,

Hey all,
Day 39 of bloom :)
So hey all, things are going great in the tent, all is back to normal again. The plant issue I had has stopped after I gave it a semi-flushing. Just a little too much nutes I think.
I'm surprised that my fert is so strong as they have had only 4 feedings... I'll have to ease up on it. At least I know it can stretch further than I thought.
So the plants are all looking healthy with no more issues. It was only the one plant that had an issue.
The Plants are 2 x Blue Cheese, 1 x Big Bang 2 and 1 x Chronic. I got them from the Rhino Seed company and they are very nice growers... I'm going to have a great yield...
And also an interesting one as I have 3 strains ! I'm looking forward to trying the Blue Cheese, I have heard lots of good things about it..
So here are some pics so far, I turned off the LED so the 4 x 65w CFLs would give you all a better look at the trichs :) Pity its not possible to get a good zoom on... Maybe copy and paste.
These ladies sure are looking fine, fine, fine !!! The hemp fibre from these plants should be made into parking tickets... because they've got 'fine' written all over them :) MMM, MMM, MM !

Blue Cheese is Barney's Farm - we can't ship these to the US at this time.
Hey S.L. your grow looks great! I read through your whole grow log there was alot of good info! I didn't know smart phones can get ya busted until you stated it on this thread, thanks S.L. I've
been thinking about buying a smartphone. Anyway, I hope you yield a massive amount of bud!
Thanks Derrail :)
Things are going great in the grow. I can see growth speeding up.
I can already see a massive amount of buds !!
You can also check out my first grow. it's in my signature below. There is much more info in there as I was getting organised then.
Day 46 of bloom
Hey all,
So here is my official weekly update :) I hope some people are still interested. If you have any input I would be happy to hear it ! :)
So bud formation is really picking up pace... The buds are at least 4 - 5 times thicker than they were a week or two ago.
One plant seems to have been getting a raw deal when it come to the light. The three other plants grew much stronger. I think I will have to bloom even earlier in future to keep them shorter. It isn't the plants fault at all, it's the space and the light management, only 3' x 3'. But there are still some nice buds nonetheless.
One plant is giving me issues with leaf discolouration and some nasty brown spots on them. I gave the plant a semi-flushing last week and it seemed to help. But after a few days it came back again. I think it is an over nute issue as I fed them a couple of days ago with seaweed and tomato organic fert and 5 heaped spoons of bat guano in a soup.
Some of the buds are very big already. I hope you enjoy the pictures :)

I started using turbo yeast a few weeks ago. I think since then the areas where the 4 x 5mm tubing came down have shown great growth.
I think I will always use CO2 in future grows as it is so easy to set up. Of course the added 260w of 2700k CFL would also have had a great effect.
we used turbo yeast in a non-cannabis project one year.
that stuff is crazy if it's the same thing.
Yep, this is the same stuff ! It's a great producer of CO2 ! Even at room temperature it releases much more than the regular yeast.Quote:

so, what do you do with it? just put it in warm sugar water to activate & let it do its thing?
how often do you change it out? if I remember correctly, it's about 5X the price of regular yeast per packet.
I think I paid about $1.50 for each packet. The postage was about $2.50
I bought about 5 packs and each pack has about 8 hits, i read the hit quantity online, so I doubled it :)
So, I divide a pack into 4 equal bags, and then I add 8-10 big spoons of sugar to 1.5L of warm water. This is enough to create lots of CO2 !
I have a valve to release the CO2 in a slow fashion so when I give the 2L bottle a shake I can see the bottle's sides expand under the pressure...
It has had an amazing effect on my grow :) It is so easy to set up it's crazy not to use the simple system.
I will be changing the yeast every 5 days or less. So I can do a whole bloom with 5 packets or so... it's cheap as chips so why not invest in it !
But really, there is a lot of CO2 coming out of that simple 2L bottle... More than you can imagine ! :)
It sounds like what you got was repackaged for your specific use.
What we bought was about $5 for a huge packet of turbo yeast that you dump all at once into a 5-gallon vat to make something entirely different with - drink rather than smoke - no cannabis involved.
Might work out to the same price per unit because I could see where you would only use a small bit at a time.
We also buy pressurized C02 for a kegerator - much more expensive. I think it costs us abut $25 for either 5 or 10 gallons - can't remember what the tank holds.
:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
Day 51 of bloom
So I have been having some small issues with the humidity here in Ireland.
Humidity is in the 80s and 90s ! 90% humidity makes it difficult to grow indoors in a tent. The humidity has created some bud rot !! not happy about it at all...
I took down 2 large buds from the Chronic plant... My god that plant is a complete animal at growing buds.. Unfortunately the large, thick buds were the perfect breeding ground...
So I took down about 70g wet so this will end up as about 20g dried... how bad... I stopped the bud rot from spreading much further I believe... damn stuff...
The weather conditions are just terrible here... it has rained all summer "without a break" ! Every single day, rain, rain and more rain...
My outdoor crop will suffer greatly too... The outdoor hasn't bloomed yet so they are still safe, but if this weather doesn't clear up for August and September I fear doom is upon me...
Check out the humidity levels in Ireland below ! I realise that the photo shows 0% rainfall for today... But seriously, even the farmers are in big trouble because of this wet weather...
There hasn't been a break in the rain for them. The cows are being taken in to be fed in mid July... This is unheard of...
[attachment=o285519]
My (Net) Five are entering 12th week now. Recently added the CO2 and i believe it's making quite the difference, however mine were "stunted" early on by limiting Container size! Looks Good!
That's some crazy humidity; so glad it's so uncharacteristically not humid here in S. Ontario.
I assumed that it was gonna get close to 100% here, so I bought a little Eva-Dry dehumidifier. It's not like the classic dehumidifier design (think it's non-freon) and only raises the temp in
the tent about 5-10F. I know that you're trying to keep heat down, but it beats bud rot.
Or hopefully the balmy weather just pisses off
So all is well again in the tent. There are no more signs of the dreaded bud rot ! So all in all I lost only a few grams to the rot as I caught it early, always look for those brown bud leaves !
After all that happened I only cut out 3 buds. Two were side buds that developed well due to the LSTing I gave the plants, the third bud was a main cola on the Chronic plant :(
After cutting these 3 buds prematurely I got about 25 - 28 grams dry from them. I was also careful to remove any areas which contained signs of bud rot as it can be dangerous when inhaled.
So an ounce already and there is plenty left in the tent still growing.
To combat the the bud rot I simply left the circulating fan on 24/7 and also the extractor. I also didn't water the plants for a few days to help the larger buds to dry up a little.
I was away for the past 3 days as I was painting my sisters house. I came back an checked the buds for rot but thankfully they showed no signs of further destruction !
So take care all and thank for your concern Easy :)
S.L.
Day 61 of bloom
So here is another photo update of the progress so far.
As I mentioned, the bud rot has stopped in its tracks and I have started to feed the plants a little more than usual over the past few weeks.
It is clear to see by the pictures that there are bus sites all over the tent... Buds are everywhere ! And I still have maybe another 5 weeks left in bloom...
I say another 5 weeks as this is what I learned from my last grow. It seems that under LED the plants take much longer to bloom. I don't really mind though.
What I also learned from the last grow was the buds pack on more during the last 5 weeks. I think I can wait a little longer.
The buds I took from the Chronic plant were very, very nice. There were premature but they pack a good kick in them already... I enjoy the stone from them, its a functional high and rather happy. There is no couch lock. I understand the buds were premature and the trichomes were mostly clear so this adds up to me.
Anyway, I have started to use a lot more of the bat guano and seaweed and tomato fertiliser. The Chronic is a real bud stacker and also the Big Bang. I found the Blue Cheese don't produce as much as the others but there is still a lot of good bud on it and it smells fantastic ! I can't wait to try the Blue Cheese out ! Mmmmm !
I got the seeds from the Rhino Seed company and I definitely think I will be growing a lot more of the Chronic in the future ! It is a big yielder !
So thanks for tuning in and I hope you enjoy the pictures !

Kidding of course.... :stoned: Looking nice, bet you can't wait to get them ladies chopped down.
Yep, I'd say the axe will be coming out in about a week or so.
I have already taken about 2 ounces in lower buds. Some of the branches were bending over and almost touching the ground so they got the chop.
Nearly on day 65 of bloom so the ladies will be finished very soon. Maybe another 3 weeks and then I start a new grow. I was thinking of going more Indica next grow.
AK48 sound like a good plan. Someone was advising me on auto strains or the bushier Indicas. I want a fast finishing and relatively short plant for my tent.
Short is the way to go I think.
Thanks for dropping by.

Thats my experience. But it can be hard to convince people that growing less, is more.Quote:

Well, the time has been here quite a while as I have been taking buds from the plants for a while. I took over 120 grams dry so far, at least 4 ounces if not more.
So today I harvested the last 2 Blue Cheese and the Chronic. I gave some smoke to my friends to try out and they were super impressed ! I must say this smoke turned out really great.
I still have the Big Bang plant blooming in the tent. It is a big producer just like the Chronic. One of the Blue Cheese turned out to be quite weak even though it got plenty of light.
The second Blue Cheese turned out very well and gave a very nice main cola. If you remember I had issues with bud rot for a week or so which I fixed quickly.
2 of the plants had their main colas cut down because of this. I think from what is left I will get the 1gpw even though the Blue Cheese didn't perform as well as the Chronic and Big Bang.
I must say that the Chronic and Big Bang 2 are definitely worth checking out. The Blue Cheese has a lovely blueberry hint to it and is a very nice smoke too. Just a lower yield.
So here are some pictures of my harvest today, I still have on more large plant to harvest and I took at least 4 ounces so far. It will be interesting to see how this harvest will look dry.
I'm waiting on more seeds so I'll leave the Big Bang 2 plant in the tent until they arrive. The next seeds I will be using are from the Rhino Seed company just like the current seeds.
I will be trying 4 autoflowering plants, AK47 auto feminised and Blue Treacle automatic feminised. I have hear some great things about the Blue Treacle.
