THC's First grow log - WW Feminized from Nirvana

The light they're getting is wonderful overkill, and your temp is basically right-on. If you can keep what's going into the soil at a ph of 5.7 to 6.2, that is also near-perfect. Not sure if you have any yet, but try to find a small bottle of SuperThr!ve if you can--the little ones love it, and it helps 'em get big and strong faster...

Start LST-ing 'em [gently!] when they're about four or five inches tall. Seriously :)

I LST my plants during veg, and like to grow big bushes. If you dont have to headspace or you only wanna have a couple plants, LST is usually a good way to increase yield.


That being said some strains dont like to be bent over. Some Indica strains naturally grow as one cola plants and refuse to branch out when topped or LST'd. Some sativa strains on the other hand tend to stretch alot during flower which makes bending them over very benficial when you have a tall and lanky sativa.

The first time you do it, its kind of scary. You think your hurting your plants and you just wanna be so gentle but just remember that this is a weed. Plants love TLC but if worse comes to worse, these fuckers can take a beating.

That's it for right now, temp is steady at 81 Degrees F, and Humidity is right at 40%

Additional Note:

Plants are exactly 13.5 inches from the bulb, any closer than say 10 inches and the plants would have "too much" light. And also, watered 4 hours ago before I left, the soil was borderline moist/dry about an inch down.

Current conditions:

6th day since planting seeds in soil

84 Degrees F
40% Humidity

13.5 inches from 600W MH bulb with proper ventilation, A/C blasting throughout room to compensate for heat given off by bulb and ballast. Fan blowing cool air in bottom, fan in back blowing air out ( aimed at bulb )

Watered generously earlier, soil seems to dry out quite quickly, which I kinda like :)

That's is pretty much it for today, I have been using the MH bulb mostly since A/C is off the fritz now kinda (in the early am it tend to ice up and not blow anything, room gets to about 90 by 7am, so I gotta keep an eye on that) I believe it is due to the cooler temp from outside, causes condensation inside the A/C unit.

11 days until I begin the All Purpose nutes at 1/4 recommended dosage.

I dont really pay much attention to mine.. going to look into it soon.. hope im not harming them.. dout so with cfls tho..

Absolute lowest 65 degrees, highest without damage to plants 100. Aim for temp around 68-80 a little higher or lower will not do anything detrimental to the health of the plants. Humidity should be kept under 50% to avoid mold, bacteria, etc. Ideally I would say 75-78 is perfect, basically whatever temperature you are comfortable in, your plant's will be too.

If you for any reason you do hit excessively high temps, like mid 90's, make sure your babies are well watered, I like to avoid water on the leaves, water directly in to the soil, slowly, with a little bit of runoff.

Honest truth be told, they can survive in normal everyday weather, sometimes as low as 60, all the way to 105... do NOT ever let this happen, because it is obviously not a good thing, but staying within the mid 70 to mid 80 mark is what I aim for.

Yeah Temperatures in my house never reach higher then 80, so I imagine 85 highest in grow room.. and the lowest is about 68.. So from what you say that seems about right :thumbsup:

iv been Misting my plants every other night, a few mins before turning out the lights an they seem to like it..

Misting is alright, but keep an eye on it, excess humidity combined with the right temp is mold and bacteria breeding ground, just be careful.

Just in case you do encounter mold/issues.

At the first sign of anything growing on your soil, stop the misting and let the soil get dry, I mean close to bone dry, then give a nice watering, and monitor the humidity, don't let it exceed 60%, in my book, the lower, the less problems you will have.


I know I went off alot about misting but it does raise the humidity in the room, just make sure it doesn't start causing condensation.


And your temps are perfect, I wish mine would stay like that haha, unfortunately with HPS/MH that never happens, unless you got a cooltube :p

Finally got my cooltube today, was definitely a pain in the ass because it comes with some weird ass wire that doesn't fit any socket I have ever seen. So this is what I have after doing the re-wiring:


Temp without A/C on is 77 Degrees steady with fan blowing in to cooltube, keep in mind I will be getting the ducting to vent the heat out the window, I obviously am losing some lumens with the glass there but to compensate and it will be beneficial to have it since I can get alot closer without any heat problems. I can get like 4 inches away with my hand without feeling barely any heat.

Have been dealing with temperature issues of late, and so I may just have to bite the bullet and git one. Problem is, they're about two hunnert bux in me neighbourhood, and that's about 205 more than I got at the mo...\

Gonna try one more thing to do some hardcore air extraction from the garden...

Covert, I can get you a good deal on one, alot less than $200.00. More like half that, free shipping.

Only thing is, you will need pretty much everything else including a power cord, it comes with a ceramic bulb fitting but it does do the job so I really cannot complain.

I can give you the number of a few grow shops that can supply you, they have 5 physical locations in the USA, legit grow stores :) For personal reasons, I have all my grow stuff delivered to a P.O. Box, it's relatively safe, just open one up under a fake name/addy :)

It took 4 days total for me to get it, I couldn't be more happy.

My temps were in the mid 80's most of the time, with this and 2 plain ol fans, 79 degrees, and I am 12 inches from the bulb, with no A/C, I turned A/C on, I will let you know temps in a half hour or so. Can't wait to get the ducting and an inline fan, it's gonna be like the heat is not even there.



And I know what you guys are thinking, I really gotta expand my grow room some huh? Get a good 30-40 plants going :p

9th Day since planting seeds in soil

Just gave a generous watering, soil was slightly moist below the surface.

Thinking about adding nutes 1/4 strength in about 5 days, that way I am at exactly 2 weeks since planting in soil. They are looking very green and phenomenal everyday, I am amazed and curious to see how well they do. More pics coming tomorrow, enjoy!

Day 9 Still, just a little later on

Here are a few pics, the leaves on the bigger plant seem to be curling just a tad upward which could possibly be nothing but might also point to Mg deficiency, or pH is off. I will give it another week, since new growth have a track record for twisting leaves etc, as long as new growth persists, it should not be an issue.

That is everything for now, plant is growing consistently, and new growth appears to be in superior health, nutes will begin exactly 5 days at 1/4 strength.

I noticed that the temp was around 87-88 last night when A/C went on the fritz, which leads me to believe heat stress a.k.a transpiration, so to compensate, I have misted the tops of the plants and soil, as well as raise the light up to about 18 inches from the tops of the plants. A/C is also working again, will update in about 6-8 hours to see if any changes are made in leaf structure.

Temp right now is 77 degrees, humidity 40%

I also looked under my seedling first set of leaves, they appear a little purplish tint underneath, wondering if this is normal, I do not suspect nute deficiency because I am using a soil that is great, so I wonder if it is just genetics, or something else. Also, the seedling stems are purple in color when under the light. The leaves edges are a little curled upward but I believe that to be the heat getting too high, and thus transpiration has occurred.

I appreciate any advice, etc. Or something I may be over-looking.

Hey THC, don't stress too much. Our WWs were purplish tinted too and if you look at the pics in my album, they look 'normal' (not that you can see the purplish tints in the early pics!) I'm certainly no expert but I'd say it's normal and nothing to be concerned about. Your babies are looking very much like ours were at that age. I didn't take any pics until they were a bit bigger, but I don't see anything untoward in yours, and like I say, ours are looking good. Keep up the fine work! :jointsmile:

I am very excited, not to smoke but to know that I can yield very high with an indoor grow simulating as much of the natural conditions as outside, plus my own personal touch of when I decide to start flowering :)

Which reminds me, need to go check on em and get a few pics taken to update on progress, still a little weary about the leaves curling a little bit, but it could be genetics, etc, or simply heat issue, new growth is definitely looking promising.

Thanks for taking interests in my grow, I will not let you guys down or disappear right before harvest, that is just WRONG!! Talk about a major tease. Bwahhh haaah haaaah! I love it :) Yeah, they are naughty, naughty girls that need to be tied down and have mineral water and 'nute juice' squirted all over 'em ;)

Just remember when doing LST/SCRoG, use yer fingers to bend and 'shape' the plant, then tie it in place. DON'T use the 'string/whatever' to pull the plant into position--this results in stems breaking off. But don't take my word for it ;)

Wow, there's really no reason to put in all this work for just the money. You could easily just deal and make just as much (if not more), more quickly than growing all this manually.

Day 12 Since planted seedlings in soil.

Gave a good watering today as soil was pretty dry.

Noticing some new growth everyday. Bulb is about 15 inches from plant tops, temps stable between 75-80. Humidity is riding on the low side, sometimes 27%, usually 35%.

Had no choice but to repot today, I looked at the bottom and a few roots were poking their little heads out the bottom holes, in this 1 gal pot, I mixed 3 parts soil, 1/4 part worm castings, and 4 tbs bat guano (that shit stinks like a fuck)

I watered earlier today, and after transplant watered a little around the edges (enough to see some water come out the bottom)

note: the perlite on the top is because the stem was a little exposed.

It seems over the period of a couple of hours after transplant the leaves are dropping a bit, I figured this would happen.. I am guessing the plants are going through a little shock and need to get use to the new soil mix, also the movement of transplant prolly doesn't help lol

I will let you guys know how they are doing later on tonight.
