Here I am another 5 days later, plants are now showing pistils all over. They look like they are on the verge of exploding. Everything has been transplanted into 2 gallon containers where they will finish their lives at. No signs of shock or stress the day after xplant, they actually "grew overnight".
I got the second LED bar in, so in lieu of the second HPS, I decided to do side by side with 400w HPS vs. 300w LED. Let the games begin. Temps are steady at 80 degrees now with all the lights on, and about 73 with lights off. To this point they have only had 1 flower feeding of SensiBloom a/b and Bud Candy. The rest has been straight water.
Here's a few pics so you can see the changes made recently.
lookin good my friend
Aloha Irydyum,:)

Many thanks for the kind words and the faith, I only hope to not disappoint. I sure am glad you jumped on, always a good dialogue when the Weez drops in, any input is welcomed and valued:thumbsup:
I can't say for sure the scientific value of running these since the 2 light sources are in such close proximity, bleed over would surely skew any data about a "heads up" competition between them (while providing me the best of both worlds:thumbsup:). That being said, I'm growing primarily so I can smoke good, so my only hypothesis is that I will smoke the pot from BOTH the LED and HPS. I can say that with certainty and confidence. Secondary to that I predict that they will both be good. I'm not willing to speculate any further than that... for now:cool:
LSY- You had asked me a question about using the peat pots and roots not growing through them or something. When I was transplanting the NL/Skunk I took a picture of the root mass for you to show how they do indeed grow straight out the side. For your viewing pleasure...
Wow irydyum your plants have really grown a lot fast and with nothing but water. Plus great branch growth too:thumbsup:I luv those pic's with the LEDs in the back ground, just adds to the beauty of them. Also, you have more growing space then i had thought.Quote:

But iv been convinced that they are to my advantage, just need to make sure they are always wet. I freaked when i saw your roots popping right through the cups, but i guess it was because mine were only sitting by the sliding glass doors. So, if i had my lights on them, they would have started to develop a root system and not just stretch like they did. But like i said, they were not all mine and couldn't move them, but after saving them, i just took all of them. So, there should be a WR in there. Its some good shit man:D
Grow is looking killer man:cool:
:rasta:
Sorry, short on time right now, just wanted to put an update so no one thinks I disappeared:D Plants have been fed this week, and got an application of Bushmaster. I don't want these to get much over the 18"-24" range. Here's some pics.
Looks great irydyum:thumbsup:, the growth is amassing and they look healthy as hell man:jointsmile:. Id hate to give up that space when ya move. But i guess your going to have to look for a Realtor who can hook ya up with a good grow space:thumbsup:. I can see it on the sign outside the house for sale ''great grow space'', lol.Quote:

those look really healthy....any noticeable differences between the 2 trays?
keep up the good work
Not too much difference visually that I can see at this point. The HPS side seems to have a little more secondary branching and the branches that are there seem sturdier. Bud development seems similar on both sides although i'm still early on in flower.
Love the coloured light in the grow room, reminds me of lamp lighting back in the 70's...
:madnoel: I do enjoy an early Christmas lol. I also love the lighting on your grow.....I know you're using them to improve your growing but it also makes the grow look a bit more interesting after being half blinded by our own HIDs lol.
In all seriousness, looking great  I'm sure you will enjoy your early festive treats in due course......as I hope to be doing also :D :rastasmoke:
Got a couple more pictures to put up here. The single application of bushmaster did nothing to stop one of the NL/Skunk seedlings while the other one stopped upward altogether. Same dosage on both, 2ml per gallon. The one that didn't stop stretching I bent the top over, and the one that did has had these strange tiny spots on the fans that reminded my why I didn't use bushmaster anymore.
On the other end of the spectrum, the Sierra Kush is coming along quite nicely. Starting to push out some trichs and develop little nuggets. It won't be long now and the weight should start packing on.
I also have 2 Silver Spurs in there that got mixed up when I received the cuts. No biggie, just more variety come harvest:thumbsup:
Pic1- Before lights on
Pic2- Close up of top on SK
Pic3- 3 SK Clones
...but what can I say, except:
GORGEOUS!
Nicely done, son. :D
REP+, if it will allow me ta ;)
I appreciate you dropping in, it get's boring around here talking to myself sometimes.:i feel stupid:
Thanks for taking the time:thumbsup:
Nice green thumb! Your plants are looking amazing and well matained. How's the smell coming from those lovely ladies? And what are you using for nutrients?
Starting to put off a little funk. I can't describe it yet, but give me a week and I'm sure it'll come out more.
For nutes this run its Sensi Bloom A/B, Bud Candy, Overdrive, and BigBud. All from Advanced.
Damn withall those dank nutrients your gonna have your own little shop of horror hahaha. Yea your gonna get a good smell off of this plants! Just make sure you got some Oder control if that's a issue were your growing, if not enjoy that lovely fragrance! Now if you don't mind me asking were did you get the bud candy from?
Have fun be safe
enjoy the buzz
Odor control is under control. I don't grow without negative pressure in my space and a carbon filter running 24/7, thanks for the concern tho.
I got the Bud Candy from my local hydro shop.
I just wanna put this out there, a dirty, dirty, dirty couple of upskirt shots of my ladies:S3:
Looking at things from other angles at times can give you information. Don't discount it. Feel free to chime in and tell me what you see, this isn't a test of any sort. Consider it a game. I will tell you that what I notice is an answer to a previously asked question in this thread:detective1:
They look super healthy, but the bottom most nodes look like they are just taking some energy that other spots could use. Maybe trim away the lower nodes?
Either way, nice job.

your babies look amazing! Very well maintained! I got to try some of that SK next time!
Dems is looking beautious yo.
Nice job so far. I'm tuned in!
Thank you everyone for all the kind words:D
from my observation the HPS side of the house tends to be WAY mo' bigga! and that's a 400W HPS vs 300W of LEDs. very interesting.....Quote:

Nice looking stuff you got growing there  keep her rollin along
Good observation. I think it stands to reason that the denser canopy on the HPS side would have something to do with that. Less leaves on the way down to block the LED light would lead to more light hitting the lowers.Quote:

Ok first...germinated in poor fashion.
meaning, way to much time in the cave / darkness ! and too cold low 70's.
...so they were way too looooooonnnnnnga !
...second...put them into my pails ( hydro bucket 2 1/2 gal. sz. setup,
with the orange ceramic balls.
with 70 - 80 temps. and 40 - 50 % humidity.
.... so now, they are looking sickly... drying up leaves, pewney, skinny stems.
Iridyum, any advise or directions you send my way will not go unappreciated.

First off, we are all going to have to get used to the idea of paying higher taxes. How else are we going to pay down the debt? It's coming so start dealing with it.Quote:

Thank you for that Bigsby. I didn't say anything because I wanted more eyes on that post.
It doesn't fit that his conditions sound ideal, yet his plant is dying, he uses hydroton, but calls them ceramic balls, and then mentions "internal affairs".
Something smells funny to me. It didn't sit right when I read it.

@bigsby....when are you starting your setup? I'd love to see how it plays out after you doing so much research!
Well Sid, I may just do that. Are you a cop? Or something related to it? If so, what are you here for?Quote:

That bitch that stays here booted me at some point, but thought my reply to the side by question you put up was posted. I guess she got me before it was posted, dumb ****. But my question was, what made you take a look from that angle, cuz im always doing that. Iv turned mine upside down before, just to see what the under growth was doing, lol. Also i try and take odd pics turning my camera sideways an shit. Only to get a peek of something i might have missed. Thought i was just a nut, but i guess you proved that those pics i take may come in handy.
Grow is cookin man:cool:I cant wait to see these big ass buds your going to get, plus im wondering which will be the better side of course:thumbsup:. Oh and this is ''From the heart'',lol:wtf:
See ya man an keep er green:weedpoke:
:rasta:
LSY, you have a habit of dropping in right before I update with new pics. I'll have some more going up later tonight.
Saw a thread on another forum, "tore up from the floor up", and it inspired me:)
Almost halfway in, and things are doing well. Some stretch on one of my NL/Skunks in spite of my attempt with Bushmaster, i supercropped her and tied her top down in shame as a punishment for disobedience :wtf:
Trichs are forming on all of the clones, the seedlings (nlskunk) are a bit behind as expected. The NL/Skunk that did respond well in shape from the BM also exhibited some "strawberry" pockmarks on the larger older fans. The others look fine. I had this happen the first time I used BM about 3 years ago. It was much much worse last time, which is why this is the first time in 3 years it's getting another try. Everything else halted, just the one NL/SK got away.
Pic update:
Looking great man, but didn't know you were growing out the skunk x nl, i guess i missed that. I knew you had the skunk and sorta favor it, but man the skunk plants iv seen grown get really big if cared for as you would. So ya really cant take it out on the plant bro:cool: lol. And if your cross is anything like mine, smoke it at night, cuz its goin to blow yo mind. 29 years of smokin and this cross was some great stuff, sorta so good i kept it a night time thing or i was nappin:stoned:Quote:

Great looking pics man, i take way to many myself but pull em up a lot to compare growth and differences in others plants, if strains the same. So keep posting bro, these look nice
Looking good as always man:hippy:
:rasta:
Don't take my grow for a measuring stick on the versus contest. That may happen, but it will be in separate areas more controlled like. Take this one as more proof of concept than a good side by side comparison.
I have put more of the larger clones under the HPS since the beginning, and that was by design. I need some yield, and I know from experience that is going to happen with HPS. The LED side was an afterthought to control heat, and in spite of there being smaller clones over there (not because of the light, but my choice) they are doing pretty well.
I'm not sure about the lineage of these NLxSK but I'm seeing more of the skunk influence than the NL in these. More stretchy and the sativa leaves are showing now that it's in flower. One is showing it more than the other, but they both have the skunk smell.
I'll try to get a picture of the leaves that are affected with the little pocks but I can't say I'm sweating it much. Almost halfway home and I really only lose about 2 fan leaves a day for the whole crop. Pretty easy maintenance on this one so far:thumbsup:
Always a pleasure having you around man, I think I'm gonna stick here in my own thread for a while. Seems a tad hostile in the forums lately and I'm a sucker for getting roped into a debate. I do try my best to be cordial in all my posts, but sometimes stupidity gets the best of me.
I'll blaze one up right now for all you guys keeping this thread going:smokebong:
Your ladies are looking really really pretty, irydyum! If I ever get my grow log started, I hope you'll come by and check it out, too. At some point, you have to just stop reading everybody else's, and just do it... don'tcha? Anyways, thanks for taking the time to share yours!
