I'm gunna have to check out your setup. Are you going all the way to harvest with the T5s and CFLs?
t3hn00b137
The roots looked good and healthy. The plant was slightly rootbound, but not as much as I've seen from others who've posted pics. I think that's the point of starting them in a smaller container.... to get a stronger root system. The soil held together pretty well when I took them out of the cups. I meant to get pictures, and had my camera right beside me, but completely forgot. :madnoel:
I think I transplanted at the perfect time because I didn't see any big signs of stress that caused damage to the plant. Just the twisting and culing leaves. I will probably switch on the same day in future grows from seed.
The plants look like they're adjusting to their new home quite well. All three look happy, healthy, and growing.

Dude, this is like so weird. I'm doing the same seeds, using the same cups, same tables, almost same fluro's (I made a bank of T-12's), same closet thing, even the same cheezy (no offense) sliding mirror closet doors!!!
I think tomorrow I'm going to wake up all Twilight Zone were nobody will know me but they will be calling me the the name Raiz'. :wtf:
Thanks for the grow, nice set up, and great pix! How did you post them so HUGE? :what:

OK, man.... Now you're just F-ing with my head. I got it, jokes over. It's like the evil Spock (with goatee) in the transverse universe. Very good, well done sir. :wtf:

I usually post the pics up at imageshack.us in 1024x768 so they fit my screen just right. They give you a direct link after you upload the file.
It's a small world, and there are only so many combinations of setups. I'm sure there is probably a 3rd person who has a grow just like ours... these things always come in 3's. :D I noticed you're doing 18/6, while I'm at 24/0. Do you notice any difference between your plants and mine at the same age? Mine are 13-14 days since they sprouted above soil.
I have no idea how to grow the peppers. My gf just bought a plant and we stuck it in there. Feel free to share any tips you have.

there looking good man and yeah im gonna use the t5 for my whole process but with the cfl's added in who knows the true potential of the t5. your setup is just like mine. I've ran 24/0 threw my whole veg from seed for about 30+ days. the light is pretty much the same as i had, practically touching the foliage. check out mine im sure it will be a close idea of how the vegging will go.
Lookin good bro:rastasmoke:

you just put them in fresh soil, i would hold off on the nutes for another week or two before you give them any. then soil has plenty to keep them happy. you dont want them looking like my poor casey jones it hurts. and man they look good:thumbsup:

Raiz' First Grow Log - 3 White Widow Seeds from Nirvana
I come home tonight to check on my girls and guess what I found!? Discoloration! This is the first sign of any realy problems with the plants, so lets see if we can figure it out. The leaves aren't a nice dark green like what I'm used to. There is a lighter green, and even a few very tiny brown spots randomly. It's not only on the top leaves, but mostly. This happened to all the plants on the same day.
As most of you know, I'm growing in FFOF soil, I pH the water to between 6.5 and 7 between watering, I've used NO nutes yet, and I'm using a T5 4 foot, 6 light setup. Today I did leave the heat on at home, and the room was 78 degrees at around 7:30pm when I got home.
Do you think I cooked the girls a bit during the day?
Are they looking for nutes that aren't there? I just transplanted a couple days ago into bigger pots.
Are they thirsty? I'm not sure this looks like thirsty plants to me, although it is time for a water.

I didn't know what to do.
I waited for anyone out there with knowledge to respond.
I waited and waited. Noone responded.
I didn't know what to do!
I panicked!
I thought maybe it was a nute deficiency.
I added 1 tablespoon of Big Bloom to the 1 gallon container.
I added 1 teaspoon of Grow Big to the 1 gallon container.
I watered/fed them.
I think they'll most likely be dead in the morning.

They shouldn't die from half strength nutes...Don't know how to fix your prob but it doesn't look that bad

So I'll bet they are still living and doing very well. Those spots seem like a "non issue" to me. Perhaps some water spots did that theoretical magnifying glass burnt spots thing? Can any growers with more experience opine? bump?
With those nutes I'd adhere to the Fox Farm schedule and I'm sure your half dose is a fine place to start. I'm not an "expert" although I feel safe saying that. Also here is a handy place for lots of info, this page shows pix of nute problems:
Marijuana Plants Problems - Yellow Leaves, brown spots, nutrient shortage etc.
I've read all their pages and would advise the same.
Enjoy!

Sorry for any thread-jacking...
-
Raiz' First Grow Log - 3 White Widow Seeds from Nirvana
Plants are looking good Raiz... probably nothing to worry about yet.
One thing I wanted to ask from seeing your pics, you're not letting pots sit in the drainage water right? I though I saw some standing water in those run-off containers you had.
-
Raiz' First Grow Log - 3 White Widow Seeds from Nirvana
This is a weed we are talking about. Unless your "nutes" included weed killer I think you will be fine.
Just let them dry out a little bit and use clean distilled water or water that has been sitting out for at least 24hrs.
Also, you shouldn't water on a schedule. You should water according to how dry the soil is. Stick your finger in the soil up to your first knuckle and if it is dry it's time to water.
If you re-potted not to long ago the soil could have nutes in it already and you could have a little bit of nute burn. Another thing may be heat burn, as you said...

How can we discuss such matters without setting off a raid of helicopters, dogs and a team of MP-5's with flash bangs? :apachecopter::bnd2:

Thanks for the link. I spent a good part of lastnight reading through all the different sick plant threads. For now I'm just going to say it's nothing major, unless the problem gets worse. I still wish some expert would come in here and tell me exactly what it is...
t3hn00b137
Yeah, I usually only water when it feels dry, however that has been pretty much a regular schedule. In the cups it was every 3 days. In the 1 gallon containers it seems to be every 4 days.
bigtopsfinn
Nah, no drainage water. I dump it out and give it to my roses or bamboo.
For the next watering (since I added nutes on the last watering), do you think it would be ok to add some molasses, or should I wait until flowering for that?

Raiz' First Grow Log - 3 White Widow Seeds from Nirvana
Yeah, what's up with those lights? We want the juicy details, watts, lums, temps each and I think you already said 30,000 lum total? That's a good amount. Did you say you have cooler bulbs for veg and warm for flower?
If they get tall, or just for hoots, you could get some Home Depot flood lamps, those ones with the clamps, (about $7) and some 42W CFL's "150W eq" (about $10 each) to boost the lums when the lights move up. I'm not saying your shy on light, just that @ 2,500 lumen each, only four would be another 10,000 you could place where needed.
-
Raiz' First Grow Log - 3 White Widow Seeds from Nirvana
The lamp is a Sun Blaze, 6 bulb, T5, 4 foot, high-output fixture. Each light 54watt and is rated at 5000 lumens which brings the total to 30,000 lumens and 324 watts when you combine all 6. The bulb color is 6500k. It was $183 at my local hydro store. The price was $230 for what looked like the exact same lamp at two other hydro stores. This guy has a bigger inventory and is trying to undercut everyone. If you're near LAX I can give you the name of the store if you PM me.
Right now the nodes are staying pretty tight. The plants are growing both outwards and upwards at the same time, so I'm not too worried right now. I imagine that soon the light from the T5 won't be enough to penetrate the canopy and the lower leaves will begin to yellow. If that happens, I don't have a plan to stop it. My hope was to go with a SCROG, and switch 4 of the 6 bulbs to 3000k, and leave the other two at 6500k when I turn the plants to flower.
Here is are a few pictures overhead of each plant tonight, as well as a side view. The plants are looking very happy and healthy. They've had only 1 feeding of 1/2 strength Fox Farm nutrients (Grow Big and Big Bloom). I figured out that the discoloration I saw before and the small brown dots were because I let them get too close to the lights. From now on the lights must stay at least 2 inches away from the plants AND have a fan blowing across the top of the canopy. T5's will burn your plant! The plants don't seem to mind that it's very windy in there though, and the constant moving air seems to have made the stems pretty tough.
Tough stems for such a small plant, notice the nodes are so tight that the first set of leaves sits on the dirt:
http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/4162/dsc00274sk.jpg
All three plants - again notice how bushy and tight the nodes are.

My peppers are also getting "black" stems, I used the quotes because let's call it purple, dark purple. Perhaps a P deficiency like purple weed stems? I googled peppers PH as I just assumed treating them the same as weed was OK. Long story short (too late) Peppers PH should be quite acid acidic, down like 6.0 - 6.5. I'm going to bring it down but they otherwise look good. :greenthumb:
That T5 is awesome, very efficient too as my T 12's use a bit more and make a bit less than half the light.... But since I have two rooms I'm bottle necked with flower time anyway. At least that's what I tell myself. ;)

Looking at the leaves, they definitely appear to be a sativa/indica cross. They're neither short and fat, nor long and skinny. It will probably become more apparent as the plants get bigger.
Indica/Sativa
http://www.shivashantiseeds.com/images/indica-leaf.jpghttp://www.hopeprovidersofmontana.co...ativa-leaf.jpg
Another thing I noticed is that all three plants have a slightly different smell. In all cases it's a bit piney, but one smells more skunklike, and another is more... weed-like smelling.

Dutch Pimp that's awesome. I'm going to have to check out some of your grow logs. If you don't mind, could you scroll back a few posts and see what you think the discoloration and light brown spots are from? I'd love to hear the take from someone with several years growing experience.

I looked at all pics. I didn't see anything worth worrying about. WW is a light feeder; don't try and supercharge the seedlings.
Actually, I have never seen more compact WW seedlings......just watch the new growth. A few minor spots or discoloring lower down, is normal. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Well it's Sunday, and you know what that means. Picture day!
Dutch Pimp, again, thanks for the info. I'll definitely try to worry less. No promises. ...and tightest you've ever seen? That makes me so :D.
t3hn00b137, ya know, I don't know if I've even mentioned it through this whole log... but the seeds I bought from Nirvana are feminized. My bad guys! Sometimes I space out on the biggest details and include the most minor points. Wonder how bad I'll be when I'm high! (only been high once)
Ocotillo, they still seem to be growin great, so I just let em be. Btw, I love that crazy running icon. I try to keep things as clean as possible, but with all the air the fans suck in, it keeps getting dusty.
A couple notes for today:
1. Watered all three until I saw a little bit of run-off with 6.5 pH water + 1 teaspoon of epsom salt added to the gallon of water. I figured the extra calcium/magnesium couldn't hurt. Currently, 1 gallon of water is enough to water all three and still have 1/8 of the gallon left for the cayenne pepper.
2. I installed some velcro I got from Lowes around the inside of the room. I bought some panda film (thick black and white plastic) from the hydro store. I need to stop going there because I keep spending money.
My plan is to get rid of the light leak around the outside of the sliding mirrored door and gain more control over the environment inside. Before I attach the panda film, I want to create a couple zippered doorways in it. Hopefully this will also block a lot of the sound from the ceiling fan as well.
Questions for today:
1. When do you guys think I should go into 3 gallon pots? The plants are short and bushy, so I'm not sure the 1 foot/1 gallon rule applies. I may have to transplant at 9-10 inches.
2. When should I go into flower? Another week? Longer? What is a good measurement tool?
3. Should I start the scrog before flowering or after?
4. Are 3000k bulbs ok for flowering, or should I strive for 2700k? At Lowes they have 3500k T5 bulbs, however I'm pretty sure these would be too white, and not enough red. The 3000k bulbs are $10 each at the hydro store... so that's $40 if I turn 4 of my 6 red (the original plan).
I think that's it for now, so I'll stop rambling and show off the girls. :)

They look good that is for sure.
1. I would say let the soil dry out and transplant now.
2. The ideal time to flower is when they are sexually mature. The nodes will normally look like a Y right? Wait until those Y branches begin growing individually and staggered(sorry, I am really blazed and don't know if this makes sense).
The only reason I would flower any sooner is just to get product out the door.
I don't know anything about your light system so I won't even start in on that.
Answer something for me. How is it that you have only smoked once and you decided to grow. That seems very extreme to me. lol
Anyway, keep up the work man. They look great!

I may be the first person to OD on marijuana.
I've actually tried pot 3 times... just been high once.
Once, I was 17 and at my girlfriend's house. Her dad had some in a drawer (a lot actually). We took it all, threw it in some brownie mix, and cooked it. The brownies sucked, and we didn't get high at all. The only thing I got from that exerpience was a tummy ache from eating so many brownies (too much sugar).
A couple years later I was at the apartment of a different girl I was dating and she wanted to get me high. I took like 6-7 big bong hits and about coughed out my lungs. We ate sushi, which tasted amazing, and for a minute I thought her arm was detached. :hippy: Then I got really sleepy and passed out. I awoke 10 minutes later to her giving me a blow job, came, and then passed out again. She was a little pissed she wasted so much weed on me as she was a poor college student.
Fast forward to a couple weeks ago. I gave a friend 5 unknown seeds Nirvana sent me, and he traded me a couple grams of "Russian Purple Kush Haze." Yes, that's what he called it, and yes, I realize that isn't a real strain.
Anyways, I got high. Sort of a floaty feeling, with a tingle all over my body. It felt nice, and was the first time I was really high. It lasted about an hour and a half. The next day I tried to smoke the other half of the blunt, but it was too short, and superheated smoke went into my mouth about burning me, so I gave up and threw the rest out.

Raiz' First Grow Log - 3 White Widow Seeds from Nirvana
Well it's Monday, and you know what that means. Picture day!
I think I'm going to take you guys' advice and transplant soon. The plants are growing pretty quickly. I'm going to have to put them on the floor soon as my little stand is running out of room.
Tonight I installed the panda film. I used velcro all around the outsides to hold it to the wall. It seems to be working pretty well. Then I installed 2 zippers straight up the plastic on each side as entrances. The panda film is 100% light blocking. The only light leaks I have now are minor ones through the zippers and a little bit along the bottom edge. I plan to clear that up with a small piece of velcro all along the bottom. Then I'll be completely sealed.
Questions of the day:
1. How do I create an air inlet so that cool air can get in, but no light? The panda film is already forming an inward shaping bubble because of the exhaust fan.
2. Should I put the mirrored doors back on, or leave em off? On = stealthy, Off = easy.
On to the pics.

That little blunt tip should have been saved. You are going to have a lot of those lying around when your grow finishes. If you are going to throw them away you should send them my way! lol I save those little suckers until I get enough to make a daddy joint/blunt out of them and smoke that or just stick the leftover stuff into a bowl and smoke it (take off the paper first, PLEASE).

I'm going to change the picture formatting up a bit today. I figure as they get more and more into the SCROG it'll become difficult to tell them apart anyways.
Watered with 1/2 strength nutes today, which means 1.5 teaspoons of Grow Big, and 1 tablespoon of Big Bloom. Next nute watering they'll be in 3 gallon containers, and I'll use Tiger Bloom/Big Bloom, but no Grow Big.
Also finished the screen I'll be using later on. When I put it up I'll post some pics.
