That's too bad. When grown & cured properly Chocolope is great! Great taste & effect. It's a pain to clone though! Never had a strain take soo long to sprout roots. Makes me think it might just be easier to grow out some more seeds, hope for a male, collect some pollen and dust one of the females.

Don't listen to budtenders! From my experience they often are just trying to move a certain product that may or may not be the best they have in shop.... that shit sells itself!
There are a few shops though where the budtenders are all about spreading the love...

Ever try a whole wheat tortilla? Or pieces thereof, as appropriate? Tip I got from guys at Higher Health, said they use it for their big jars. For me, pieces in smaller jars, no effect on nose I can tell - it still smells like originally as far as I can tell; I'm an old fart who smoked cigs for decades, so not much of a smeller left, try it yourself and see. This keeps it smokeable for me, and it's what I used on your Chocolope (sucked a couple of pieces dry and hard in a hurry).

That's a great idea... I like it a lot better than bread, which can crumb up a good nug.

a fresh fan leaf or two overnight does wonders to bring back some moisture the right way.
it will only mold if it's kept shut too moist. get a hygrometer and try to get humidity to 60-65. 65-69 is ok but not ideal, 70+ and you'll have mold - a hard, recently learned lesson for me. hygrometers will save your ass! one in every jar for me until I am in the ideal 60-65 range.

you can get nice small hygrometers at Walmart that work fine.... $6.50 or so.
ReLeaf... bummer to see that you don't offer the "bring your meds back if unsatisfied" guarantee that some of the other places have offered in the past (e.g. CCF, D9, C3, etc.). No worries though.... that sweet tooth was long gone. And it was better than it looked, but it was def high-volume commersh...

There will be certain caregivers who release their name to the registry to take on patients. The problem is many of the great growers already have more than enough patients and are going to be forced to drop some. You'd probably have better luck growing your own and designating a center. I expect that the benefits for signing up are going to get a LOT better, and soon.
Buying a couple ounces a month should put you on any growers good side! The one thing I can say is that while caregivers aren't allowed to charge more than cost, you can always DONATE money to your caregiver. I haven't heard of anyone taking that route as of yet.
Honestly, I'm probably the worst person to ask this to, mainly because I've never searched for a caregiver online. Just don't give out contact information in PUBLIC places here and you're fine. That's about all I can say...
Thank you. If you're ever on our side of town, feel free to stop in and say hi.

Most of the info I have on Craigslist is anecdotal. Very few people I've talked to have had positive experiences. Usually the meds are low quality or the situation is sketchy. There are a few other boards out there that are less regulated, so you might have better luck there.
You're quite welcome! My name is Jake and I'm here M-F 11-7. See ya soon.
Edit: Sorry to jack the thread, D9. I'm out!
I was in d9 this weekend and I am fully aware of their issues. You didn't hijack anything, but I see your point.
Anyway, back to this discussion. I am not interested in making you feel uncomfortable, I understand that these discussions potentially include proprietary information and you can't disclose some stuff. That's totally okay but I have no idea where that line is or when I'm approaching, so feel free to ignore anything I ask. I hope that's clear.
I have had several experiences buying meds, clones, etc off craigslist with minimal success. I haven't seen anything totally awesome. I see dispensaries spamming that board which is irritating. I see 'private' growers constantly updating selling clones etc, but the plants never match the photos. I always verify legal status and usually ask for a photo of the redcard, and I have had little success, so there are still illegal drug dealers out there. It's easy to get legal, so I have no tolerance for the people that are breaking the law.
I have seen my caregivers' setup, and it seems perfect. ebb/grow, large reservoir, dwc in 4gallon buckets, 3000 watts for 6 plants (currently), nutes, correct timing, exhaust, co2, carbon filters and other odor control, basement grow with correct timing, humidifier, etc etc. But his last two harvests have yielded no buds bigger than your thumb, so obviously he's not doing something right.
His current plants in veg are about 16 inches tall, indicas, and have fan leaves with 9 leaves that are close to 12 inches long, with nodes (i think that's what they are) about 3/4" apart. Just amazing growth. I have never seen anything approaching that on craigslist, and I have no idea why. It's baffling to me, but that's only because I'm totally ignorant of this community.
I appreciate your time, and I plan on stopping by to discuss non-internet friendly stuff sometime soon.
Last thought: If smaller dispensaries like d9 are having trouble remaining compliant and have to resort to small inventories, wouldn't it be prudent for those places to only sell high end stuff like ear wax? If you are limited to an inventory of X ounces or whatever, shouldn't they turn themselves into extract shops or hash shops or something? Why sell green at $20/gram when you can sell extracts for up to $75 or more per gram? I am talking after this legislation takes effect.
-
ReLeaf Center - Dispensary Review Thread
If you have questions about getting your own grow started, I'd recommend talking to Steve or Zac. They're here on the weekends and can be much more informative than I can.
I think that hash model is viable, but in reality, most dispensaries do the bulk of their sales in high end buds. With everything that is happening locally with Denver's ordinance, I don't know what tomorrow will hold. We're getting a lot of conflicting info.

No offense to you, but bragging about getting illegal narcotics makes you look foolish when you criticize legitimate businesses.
I don't know if you are ignorant of dispensaries or if I am getting ripped off, but $40 for a gram of upper end hash is very fair for me, someone who doesn't know any decent caregivers. I have yet to see a home grow with dispensary top shelf quality.

That is my impression. That the quality of our herb will go down short term, since these small scale basement-grows aren't really suited to marry up to a dispensary at a commercial grow or pay the off site license fee. So, it seems places that are hardest hit are the MMC's who have gotten most of their meds in this way, small scale grows. I don't want to discuss current situations at specific MMC's, but I have a feeling that's the biggest issue with dispensaries moving forward, is how they can make the 30% as much as possible.
I'm not even sure what I am saying, other than we agree.
I just wish I knew a guy who grew some really dank pre98 bubba kush or something. I just haven't met the right caregiver yet who actually knows how to grow from start to finish.

Here's a good way. Get a set of Sprung Bags for $80. Then every couple months you'll have 2-3 grams of full melt easy... pretty simple.
Not all of your patients are idiots... hell I was one once. But the ones who don't realize that they're getting creamed are! Sometimes you have no other choice to get creamed (e.g. waiting on your harvest!).
Commercial doesn't yield top-shelf man.... it just doesn't happen. Commercial yields commercial!! Or beaster type nugs...

Surely you'll agree that some of these smallish scale top shelf growers married up to MMC's such as wellspring or releaf, and are now either operating offsite or at a commercial grow. Wouldn't the same guy get the same plants on a larger scale? Are you saying quality has to suffer as scale increases?
I think it would be a good thing to get compliant, small growers out into the open, in a commercial setting. Aren't most of these smallish grows constrained by space, money, or budget issues like nutrients and electricity?
edit: I also have no problems with places like Hatch selling overpriced medicine. My parents live near there, the market can definitely sustain those prices. If rich hippies want to spend money, let them. It's not like places like Hatch are deceitful or falsely advertising are they?

We'll see. Everything in our tents looks GORGEOUS. :stoned:
2-3 grams of full melt is what we sell in a day, lamp! I also have people try to tell me half melt hash is full all the time.
We're actually making hash today, but I'm not getting much on my smallest screens. Very frustrating. We sell our in house bubble hash at $16-$20 a gram, never higher, which I think is VERY reasonable. I haven't heard a lot of caregivers making hash, either. One more reason that a dispensary isn't completely unnecessary. :hippy:

We have several growers that are finding that not only is our system pretty easy to learn, they're not losing any of the quality, just a little of the yield.

What's the difference between full and half melt hash? There's a lot of noise when I try to search online.
Do you have a rigid lighting/nutrient cycle? Do you allow your growers to grow their own crop at your commercial place using 'their' system, or are they growing at your specific instruction? I'm curious how 'hands-on' MMC's are with their growers. It's interesting stuff, but I understand how you could consider this proprietary info, so feel free to ignore any of this.
edit: I guess it's just a quality thing. I'm assuming the vast mojority of local hash is cold processed bubble hash, right?
quote:
Assuming we're talking about well-made concentrates, there's really not much reason to smoke bud anymore. Concentrates are healthier than bud for sure, typically will taste better than bud, they're easier to hide if you travel a lot, and they're always more potent by weight/volume. My favorite would be any good bubble hash, made out of killer bud. The reason I like it more than BHO or QWISO, is that it has the best flavor, in my opinion. The buzz you feel will be primarily dependent on the type of bud used to make the concentrate. As far as the different aesthetics of concentrates, there are only 3 categories, bubble hash, BHO, and QWISO.
As far as amber glass vs BHO, there is no difference chemically. Amber glass is simply a way you can tell how high of a quality the BHO is. BHO, if you aren't familiar with the term, is super critical fluid extraction, using the butane as a way to extract the cannabinoids from the weed. When you run the BHO the first time, and you have a high quality product you're making into hash, sometimes the extract can be so pure that it will form into a big chunk of what looks like glass. This is commonly referred to as "shatter," and is the standard to which all measure their BHO.
Full melt hash is another way to tell the quality of what you're smoking. If someone hands you a bowl saying it's some full melt hash, get ready for liftoff. Full melt hash means that when you are finished smoking, there will be a significant amount of volume lost. Full melt hash means just that, when you smoke it, it melts into a little puddle of nothing. Smoking hash which doesn't melt or melts poorly simply indicates a lower quality. QWISO is short for quick wash isopropyl, which means that you are "washing" the weed with a high % (92-95%) alcohol, and then evaporating the alcohol leaving the cannabinoids behind. Kief is kief.
-
ReLeaf Center - Dispensary Review Thread
I grade melt exactly as the explanation does below. Full melt should basically turn to liquid. It's generally best stored at lower than room temperature. Most hash you see is the cold water bubble extraction. I RARELY see full melt made in this method.
They're all using our system, which is 99% automated. No one has asked to switch back yet, so I'm guessing they're satisfied.
