Afghan Kush - 1st Time Grower

Merry Christmas Everybody! :)

OK...So... Here are some updated pictures of the Afghan Girls...

They are now at the end of ''4 weeks'' Into flower..... They are looking pretty healthy I think.... The larger fan leaves do have some slight yellowing.... but I've read this is to be expected during flowering... am I right?

After the last Flush... I waited 2 days and then fed with nearly full strength nutes..... CANNA A&B (7ml A & 7ml B to 2 Litres water)

A FEW QUESTIONS FOR THE EXPERTS OUT THERE....

I really don't think these girls have very big Buds at all for plants going into thier 5th week of flowering..... Am I wrong?

Should the buds have really started to fatten up already? or will I notice a massive difference once I have used the Canna PK?

And Here is a pic of the G13 Pineapple....ready to go into flower at the end of today......

Well... I re-potted the G13 Pineapple in my newly bought 10 Litre plant pots yesterday 60-40 with perlite and started her off on her first day of 12-12....

I will replace the G13 Pineapple in the veg cab with one of my seedsman WHITE WIDOW Ladies...I may start a new thread for the white widow.... so I can see the results from the very first time she bursts through the soil until the chop 12 weeks later.....

This Afghan Girl is looking good! ;)

She's my favourite of the two.....

i think it will bulk out more.. my plants are bulking up every day and seem to be on fire now that i have the setup kinda dialed in..
yours look very pretty and i am SO envious.. i wish mine looked that good bro

looks like those plants are startin to snow.....mine started doing it and it has been the longest wait ive ever had....but that will all end n about 10 - 15 days....good luck on not lookin at them 10 times a day

5 years and i just have learnt now not to check them every 5 seconds lmao
they look good but your pots realy need to be wider next time start them in a 6 litere pot square pot and they can be kept in them throughout, my grows have always started in 6 litres and finished with a high yield in these same pots for five years now and the low light intensity is prob a factor in not bulking up enough to me they look like cfl flowers i know you are using a hps but you can also get them 3 inches from this light i have a 250 and a 600 the 600 needs to be 12 inches but the 250 can be like 5 inches away for optimal results so id get the light about three inches also have you put enough holes in that ice cream tub or the water will go nowhere its needs drainage this is the key and if you cant afford mylar use black and white its the next highest reflective material down from mylar but is way cheaper

growmanchw: I've been learning as I go on this grow..... I thought that myself and invested in some 10 litre pots for the next time round.....

The pots they are in now are around about 8 Litres for no 1 afghan and 6ish Litres for no2....

They are pretty close to the light...(I will need to measure)...but they are just close enough that the light does'nt burn the back of my hand....

Are you serious?? :wtf: thats an insult to my intelligence.... of course I have drainage holes in the tub... they would have fucked up a long time ago If i hadnt..... yeah...I'll stick with the matt white thanks....

Hey keep up the work and putting up pics but a word of advice, next time you're gonna want to trim the LOWER leaves and buds. The point is to trim the small shit that doesnt get much light, not tear off your cola and focus on itty bitty buds down below. Light can go 3 inches from the TOP of your plants =D

Everything you have done so far sucks and I command you to box up the final product and discretely send it to me via carrier pigeon! Just messing with ya, it looks like you have done your plants some serious justice while still working with a budget right on!

You would hope that people with 5 posts or whatever have actually grown before, but you would never really know with the things that spill out in their posts. I came into this site more to log my grow and look back at it later to learn what I did wrong. Other then that just reading everything on here was more beneficial to me then acting upon things in real time that people offered as help. I was never one to just do what someone else mentions but there are lots of helpful people on this site. Too bad there is some green wizards that live with their mums and dads and throw out bullshit as advice! Keep doing what your doing! That afghan is frosting up nice.:pimp:

fucking hell lads you just shot shittyjon:gunfighter2::S2::S2:well i don't grow indoors but i do have over 100 posts so can i make a suggestion without getting beaten up LOL:D how about some suplementry lighting for the lower plant cfl or fluros only cheep, i have read a few posts over the years on this site where peeps have suggested this, but don't know how much it will help, but they say more light bigger the yield so maybe worth haveing a little search:thumbsup:

I have 100 posts, I also trim the bottom leaves and branches early on in the veg cycle. But, I won't offer any such suggestion to a groower doing so well without my $.02

I 'ABSOLUTELY'.....'DEFINATELY'..... need to get supplementary lighting.... I went with the 150w as I didnt want to end up with heat issues.... but it's really not enough.... :(

I'm thinking when I can get the money together.... I'll sort something out... probably CFL'S..... A lot of the American guys here seem to have those attachments that you can clip multiple CFL'S into..... cant seem to find them in the UK though??? any ideas???

If I could do some shopping over again I would have went with a 600w system vs the 400w, but wouldn't have known what I needed without trying something.

Weird the UK doesn't have light socket splitters and its hard to find Kraft Mac&Cheese,,,count me out then I couldn't live there!

i dont like the Kraft shit but that is kinda odd....

my mates got a few y splitters i asked him where he got them from he got his on ebay, but he had trouble finding them allso:( you would have thought they were easy to purchase but seems not.most retailers on the net ship worldwide i'm sure some of our American friends could point you in the right direction if you cant find any in the uk:thumbsup:

Afghan Girls - 1st day of Canna PK

Well I've just mixed some nutes up for the girls.... I'm starting them on Canna PK today.... Canna A (5ml) & B (5ml) & Canna PK (3ml....full strength)

Once mixed the P.H is around 6.5

hopefully this really fattens them out a bit... fingers crossed... (although they are looking well) and I'll get some new pics up for you guys so we can compare the difference...

When u top the plants do u see an obvious change in the growth of the side branches?

I'm also a st timer but i spent £550, nearly $800 on two tents two lights and one extraction system. with the first crop we got back all of the money we out in but i had 7 plants, 5 skunk No, and 4 white rhino. the skunk grew very tall and quickly.
the next crop is cheese, a strain thats very strong. although i only have 5 seeds.
do u think topping these would increase yield? or what.

Its hard to say mate.... as you'll know... there are lots of factors which will increase the amount your plants will yield.... like good ventilation, balanced nutrients, lumen output of your lamps etc.......

but I would think the more leads you can get... and the closer to the light you can get them... as long as you have everything else dialed in.... then your on to a winner.... :thumbsup:

absolutely mate.... If you take the top clean off... all the plants energy will go into the growth of the side shoots.... on my grow here though I (fimmed...I think is the technical term) cut through the main growing tip maybe 75% to produce 4 main leads on one.... and 2 on the other...

Hope that kinda helps you.... Its probably what you already know though.. :thumbsup:

Just out of curiosity... what kind of system are you running?... soil? hydro?.... nutes?... lights? wattage?... area? etc....

The Afghans have had one dose of canna pk so for.... (had to wait until they dryed out a bit) and will get another dose when they dry out again.....

Its Absolutely Freeeezing here!.... and with the low ambient temperatures... I have managed to get the girls really close to the lamp without burning.... '1' Inch is the closest!

The cola's on my favourite Afghan are looking real nice.... 2 of the cola's are 10cm of dense bud in height and the other 2 are around 8cm.....

I will really need to get supplementry lighting soon as the G13 pineapple is really stretching.... On the plus side it is a long flowerer... so I have time on my side to sort that out.... :)

Thanks Buffalo! I've got big plans to really make the most of my area.... I'm looking into supplementry lighting or an additional 150 HPS (same kind) and was gonna line with mylar etc.... still at the planning stage though!

On that note.... Has anyone used that black & white stuff... or mylar?... I was wondering If I'd be able to stick it to the door poncho.... or do they crease easily?.... maybe I'll go to the hydro shop and see....

you look on the selector on the camera.. choose the one that looks like a flower.. that will let you get a close pic with out it getting all fuzzy and shit..
