3 ten gallon sterilite tubs at Wally mart 15 bucks went to hydro shop got 18, 3 inch netpots for 18 bucks and nutrients about 40 bucks. A 4 port eco air pump and some air tubes and stones about 50 bucks. Hydrotron rocks about 20 bucks.
He also needs an A/C unit from home depot for 150 bucks but if your inside an a/c you may not need it just venting. Fresh air infrom a/c , hot air out can be done many ways and cost alot or very little.
I use a hole saw 2 and 7/8's inches. Cut 6 holes in the top of tubs space them out 3 on each side. Drop in an air stone. fill with 6 gallons of water, I prefer R/O but went with tap water for bro cause it was under 200 ppm's.
A PH pen is a must and the prices canbe about 100 but I just searched and found the ph600 from milwalki for less than 25 each at a petshop for fish.
TDS pen will help but not required at first.
6 DRIP HYDROPONICS SYSTEM HYDROPONIC KIT like waterfarm - eBay (item 190300970924 end time May-14-09 17:25:51 PDT)
Check out this. It's what I started with . They were alittle cheaper a few years ago and I can still make the for 30 bucks a piece.
Hi, Here are some shots of my current aerogrow while you wait for your seeds
Got an email that seeds are on the way today. I'm so excited I can barely contain myself. I hope my grow looks as good as yours luna. Did you use the aerogarden nutes? If not which ones did you use? Did you get the gormet kit or just take the seeds out of another? What can I be doing to prep while I wait impatiently?
Hi, I use their nutes and add just a touch of my own. You really don't need to add any extra they'll do just fine without it. I only use a few drops of Fox Farm Grow Big or I'll add Beastie Bud or Cha Ching maybe an 1/8 of a teaspoon and I only add them every other feeding. I got their "Master Gardener" kit because I didn't have any of the pods. I then get their "Garden Starter Tray Refill Pack" sponges that I cut down (their a little longer then the regular sponges but a lot cheaper). That's about it. Oh what's your tap water like? Do you have softened water? If you do you'll need to use bottled water in the aero.
I got my seeds today and I'm so excited I can barely contain myself. So now I need to give the aerogarden a good clean, get the extra lamps, clean the fan... it's a little dusty and setup a grow area. I also want to get an air purifier because I don't want any area outside my grow spot to smell. I need to get the gormet seed kit and then I think I'll be ready... Am I missing anything? I'm thinking I'll go with the aerogarden nutes for a first run.
Oh, and my dr chronic seeds came just fine I think :)
Yahooo!!!!!! Which strain did you end up choosing? You might consider getting an aquarium pump and air/bubble stone just thread the tubing through one of the empty pod holes or through the door where you add water. Renuzit makes this room freshener called Odor Killer that has no real scent of its own and works well at controlling the smell. Other then that it sounds like you are good to grow.
I ended up choosing White Dwarf. It has a lot of the indica I was looking for, it's auto flowering, and I hope it will be a good choice. Any idea how tall it gets?
How does this help? Doesn't the aerogarden run water up through the pods enough? You know I'm up for any advice. I want my first grow to go well.Quote:

I got an air pump and an air stone. I cleaned the aerogarden and I'll clean the fan after I get the aerogarden started again. I still need to firmly decide where my aerogarden is going to go.
After I have sprouts, I'll get two extra lights. Turn on the fan, and all of that. :)
I wasn't able to find the airfreshener that you recommended. I'm going to try a different store today. Shouldn't have trouble with smell for a bit anyways.
I hope it goes well :) I'm really wanting this to work right the first time.
Nice choice. The white dwarf I grew wasn't too stinky and she is a good size AF mine were around 2' when they finished. Here is a link to a grow log here with some nice WDs: http://boards.cannabis.com/grow-log/...ite-dwarf.html
The reason for the air stone is 2 fold. First off the added 02 is always a good thing but more importantly is that sometimes the roots get into the aero's pump system and when that happens it stops circulating the water. Now while the roots are in the bowl/water so that they are being fed the water will grow stagnant and that can kill your whole grow that happened to me with my first grow and I ended up losing all but two in that grow. In the future you can get the aero's refill kit for their seed starter kit ($20 for 75 plugs) they are a little long so they need to be cut down but they work great and no seeds need to be dug out ;)
I put the seeds in the aerogarden and they've all shown roots. The problem is that the roots are popping up and not down. What do i do? Do I take them out and flip them over or try to rotate them or do I leave them alone? Will they fix this problem on their own?
Any tips would be welcome. I'm really worried about my first little seedlings. I'm afraid if the tap root gets to big I'll damage it if I have to move it later. I don't want to ruin my first grow. Next time I'll use the paper towel method and then put them in the pod after I see a tap root.
Hi, I have that happen to me using both methods I usually just gently pull them out and turn them around. I have even had one whose tap root I snapped in half and it survived.
I've been growing 3 plants in the aerogarden. One plant was my largest and happiest fell over half way up. Is there any way to save her? Now my weakling is flourishing and my small plant is starting to grow. Any ideas would be appreciated. The plant looks like it is withering but it has a full water tank, nutes in the tank and an airstone directly under it. It was doing fantastic. Now it is weak and appears to be dying. Help!
Do you have any pictures? Do you have the aquarium pump and air stone going? You can check to see if the roots got into the aeros pump by openning the door and see if you can see water running in your empty pod. I would try to find a way to gently prop up the fallen one which will help a little.
I have an air pump and air stone going. I can see the bubbles coming from it. I don't have any pictures. I'm going to see if I can find my camera. I'll put a pick up if I can. I'm a little hesitant to post up on the web. I have also put a little super thrive in there. it made the other two take off but it didn't have any effect on the bad one. I'm thinking about using a garbage tie to straighten it up. That's the best idea I have. I'm going to make a bigger system soon. I don't like having to worry about having enough room for roots and only having 3 plants.
I realized last night that my two large plants were strangling each other and I was seeing the strongest survive and the weakest die a slow and for me, painful death, so I cut the roots to the weak one and discarded it then placed the other plant, the small one, as far from the big one as possible. No repeats necessary for this lesson. I'm going to be looking at others who have diy'd their own systems and make one that won't repeat this problem. Both remaining plants are staked to prevent overnight falling over so I wouldn't have any more unplesant surprises. Anyways, I think that fixes that one. More space, no aerogarden, more air and more circulation should fix the problem as well as staking the plants before they could possibly be tall enough to fall over. It's been a learning experience so far. That's good. Now it's time to research more.
I use the Aerogarden Pro 100. I've had several decent growths. I use AK-47 feminized autoflowering seeds. You should be able to grow between 3-4 plants.Quote:

4.) Use good nutrients. I use Fox Farms Grow Big and Tiger Bloom
5.) Use the wet napkin technique for germination. Slice the sponge in half and place the germinated seed in the sponge.
6.) Don't add nutrients for first 2 weeks and then add a 25% - 50% solution
7.) Change the reservior every week
8.) Get an air pump and a couple of air stones
9.) Have patience
Good luck!
