I don't like the drooping already, even after just one watering. Is there any CalMag in the mix? You said you split some with distilled. Perhaps 1ml/g CalMag. There is really no way to know what is in your water unless you have it tested......what's that 300+ of in there? And what did the Brita do since the number rose instead of dropped but your plants weren't drooping before weret they?
What is that stuff in the bottom of your res? Do you believe it's sediment from your water or sediment from your nutes?
@WeedHound - In my 40g resv.there is no CalMag in the mix. Its 30 gallons [email protected] Tap (no brita) and [email protected] Ionic Grow.
I couldn't tell you what it was, kind of almost a sandy type of sediment, it could have been from nutes or my water I'm not sure. I think you may possibly be right about adding alittle CalMag however, before I came to work the plants were still looking droopy and they hadn't been watered yet this morning, I'll let you know how they look after a couple of waterings later today...if they are still droopy I may consider adding like 1ml/gal. CalMag to my 30gal. of water I have in there right now. I think that would probably bump me up to alittle over [email protected] total in the resv. What do you think WeedHound?
@weedhound -I bought a gallon of distilled, put 50/50 CalMag/Ionic Grow sitting at [email protected] PPM Total in the gallon jug to water my seedlings. I can post a picture of them later today if you wish.Quote:

just my 2cents I picked up from hydro-growers about nutes:
if you don't have just a tiny bit of tip burn -- you're not pushing your plants enough... not enough nutes.

(morning post-coffee brain-fart)
@MdmPele -Well, that was actually my plan, but since I was frying the shit out of them like a day ago (lol) I don't know what my window is anymore. At this point, I'm just trying to see if I can find an equalibrium with these clones before I'm ready to transplant my seedlings into the system. What my goal is, is for these clones to start showing signs of good healthy growth and also get me used to playing around with PPM's and such before I attempt putting my seedlings in my resv. They are of the utmost importance to me now and I'm going to try everything in my power this time to try and not screw them up for once. My biggest concern at this point is my room temp. I'm sitting in the low 80's inside the tent during the hottest hours of the day, dropping down to low 70's at night (lowest temp. is 68 at night because I have a space heater in there set at 68 degree's). When it gets hotter outside getting closer to summer I'm not sure how hot it will get in there but I'm assuming hotter. I really want to avoid having to put a window air conditioner in that room because I've got it set up very nicely right now for security. I have an ozone machine that really does a decent job killing the smell but I try not to run it much because I'm afraid it would dmg the plants if I ran it all the time. I don't know =\Quote:

@WeedHound - Well I've tested my PH and PPM's. My PH went up from 5.6 to 5.7 in the resv. The PPM's have not changed and still are sitting at [email protected] ([email protected] tap water, [email protected] Ionic Grow). The clones are still looking somewhat floppy and a couple of the new larger leaves tips are pointing down, almost curling down. I was thinking about putting 1ml/gal. of CalMag in there but I'm not sure if thats what I should do...I'll probably wait for a response from you WH. However, the new growth is looking really healthy in coloring.
My other concern is my seedlings...the leave are looking rough, like bubbled and ragged I guess. I can't think of a good way to describe it. Maybe crinkled up sort of. What do you think I should do? To let you know I was watering the clones in the beginning with [email protected] water before I had gotten my PPM pen and now I'm watering it with [email protected] (50/50 CalMag/Ionic Grow). I had also lowered my lights yesterday so that could be a possibility but I'm not sure.

Dude......what are you doing to the healthy growth vs the wilty stuff? How do the roots look on everything? Have the clones rooted well? Got a few overwated babies but overall they look ok.
@WeedHound - all the clones are in the same resv. I haven't treated any of them differently..its all about equal oppertunity around these parts =p But, I've never tried checking the roots with my grows cause they are burried in geolite, am I suppose to?
So those seedlings are just being overwatered? I'll definately let them dry out then. I've been watering them once in the morning and once at night...I used to use a spray bottle but I started just with these by dipping them in a glass that has the water in it. Maybe thats why they are getting overwatered..
No no, water the rockwool , not the plant. And don't soak it, just wet/not soaked. Then wait until it gets pretty dry before watering again.....I don't use rockwool myself....hopefully someone else can chime in with a good seedling watering schedule for rockwool.
good luck.
PS If the next watering makes more plants wilt I would stop the experiment and go back to what your were doing before. With water at 300+ I'd love to know exactly what IS in there.
Talk to me about what happens when things start to go bad and give me the more detail the better.
@WeedHound - yea I've decided to skip a watering for tommorow morning. And I'm going to use a spray bottle and just get them wet this time as well. Going to just water them with 300+ water and 1/4tsp grow nutes. I may just cut the nutes out until they get more true leaves. Hopefully they won't do too bad by tommorow morning.
I'm trying to get up to speed on this thread. LOL. My bro has well water and the brita only brings it down about 20 ppm's. My best guess is his water tastes of iron and must need the cal/mag. I got him to not use the filter but he says it helps so I let what works for him work.Quote:

Loc Nar I tried to rep you but I must already recently. :)
Bert light stretch not a real biggie if you've fixed it. I've found some toothpicks BURIED in my stuff down the road but they needed it at the time. :)
@WeedHound - yea it seems that their stems have started straightening out after I dropped the lights about a foot and watered with a spray bottle instead of dipping the cubes in a cup of the water. I ended up tossing that DI water I had at [email protected] however thinking that was the problem =( I'm too hasty sometimes =\
It seems I'm still getting the floppy leaves and such with the new growth once it gets big. I'm starting to wonder if I'm overwatering them or not? I'm doing 30 minutes at a time 4 times a day, last watering ends at 9PM. I'm going to make a post in the hydroponics section to see if any e&f growers may know. Or if you are a e&f grower and using rockwool cubes you can answer here too :p
That sounds very good.....Never tried E and F myself and am told rockwool hangs onto water so wouldn't have a clue to proper watering times either.
Yea I can attest that rockwool does hold onto water very well. I could almost get by watering them once a day with spray bottle becuase they seem to really retain the moisture. But that also leads to my concern about overwatering as well. What I think may have been happing with my previous grows is because I was maybe getting such severe nute lockout that I got all that sediment in the bottom of my resv. and now that they aren't getting locked out they are being overwatered. I don't know if that is logically sound or not?
I'd like to say that I'm moving any further discussions about this over to my new grow log in case you were interested WeedHound or anyone else thats been helping me. Thanks!
