LED...The Second Coming...
I had the same problem two grows back. Your seedlings look exactly like mine did. I made the awful mistake of trying to sprout them along with some plants that were already in flowering under a HPS light and some huge compact floros. Basically, the light killed them. My grow area is limited due to space. I use the little space we have to grow from seed. Don't have any cloning room. I usually end up with five good plants, but that time I made the mistake of trying to fill the space I have because I ended up with only two females. I'll never do that again.

LED...The Second Coming...
I don't know too much at this stage of my growing experiences, but it looks like the lower leaves are yellowed pretty badly when the upper leaves appear healthy - would such be the case if lighting were an issue? My experience with such yellowing lower leaves leads me to believe too many nutes is the cause. Stinky is one of the best I have seen, and I second her emotion.
Congratulations by the way on taking chances with the LED lights. Others have told you already, but with risk oftentimes comes reward - I am happy to see your risk led to reward, and I look forward to continuing to follow your LED grows!
Good luck in flushing your seedlings, and turning them around!

LED...The Second Coming...
Yes alot of high powerd LED light and a strong soil will do that. Remember things grown under high powerd LED's need way less fert and like stinky said FFOF is strong to begin with so if you mix that with alot of high powerd LED's when the plant are babys ???

LED...The Second Coming...
I bought a product a few months ago for my next grow. It's called Park's Bio Dome. They come in various sizes. I got the eighteen cell one because I usually only plant ten seeds at a time. It kind of takes the worry out of watering, etc. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm going to in a few weeks when the plants I have are done. It's a seedling starter.
Which brings me to a question for the advanced growers here. I started with ten seeds and ended up with six plants. There are two left and they were planted the last week of January, believe it or not. They are definitely sativa strains but I didn't even bother to take notes on them as the grow progressed. One is over six feet tall and I have it bent over in the closet. The smaller one in almost six feet. All the fan leaves have fallen off both of them, leaving just the buds. What's weird is that they are basically done at the bottom but not quiet there at the top part of the plants. In fact, they have very little trichs on the top buds and the buds aren't that dense. I plan on chopping them on the 16th whether they're done or not. They've been growing for nearly five months. The seeds were freebies so I wanted to try them even though I knew they were outdoor plants. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before, having plants take so long to mature?

Its the FF its too strong for the babies> I went thru that a couple mths ago.
btw thanx for the help on that stinky :D
stealth^ I'd start some more seeds but not in the FF ;)

LED...The Second Coming...
I'm leaning towards the legend as well.....but I'd probably do both....flush well and cut the light back.
I've done my clones with FFoF w/o problems but have never tried it with a straight up seedling. Stinskter what age would you say is safe to put a newer seedling into FFoF soil?
Stealth.....send me an e mail. ;)
-
LED...The Second Coming...
Same age as it's safe to feed it- 5 nodes. Those lil things are scorched to hell from ferts, not lights, although intense heat or light causes increased metabolic rate and in turn that causes problems to show much faster.

seedlings starter
1. roto rooter (the best) Stinky's recommendation U ROK girl!!
2. seedling starter mix (no nutes or very few/micros)
3. peat pellets (cut the cloth off them first!)
Local tap water has plenty of nutes for seedlings first week.
I would guess?! wait about 2 weeks till transplant them into FF
I was reading my book awhile back>Jorge Cervantes new bible
(indoor/outdoor) and in the seedling starting chapter he has some very good info on starting seeds and how light/nutes/water/temps/etc effect the seedlings and the SEX of them!!!!. You could by strictly controlling them> raise your female to male ratio!!
I don't have access to my Bible know or I would scan and post that chapter for everyone. If you can I would definitely get that book, this is the exact book here :
Barnes & Noble.com - Books: Marijuana Horticulture, by Jorge Cervantes, Paperback
A must have for all :hippy: :hippy: :hippy:

I like jorge cervantes too and have that book as well but my two favorites are probably
1. Cannabis Grow Bible by Greg Green
2. Marijuana Botany by Robert Connel Clarke
3. cdot. :D
oops thats three......

LED...The Second Coming...
thank you guys!!!! wonder why the seedlings were all ok the first go around in the FFoF....SHIT man...I may have lost some REALLY good strains....
cut down to one light, put another 10ish holes in the bottoms of the cups...I will give em till sat to bounce back, then just start more...which sucks even more, because i got another procyon (newer model with the 465s) and I am gonna do a single procyon grow as well....I wanted them staggered, but now it looks like i will be starting both rooms again....AAAARRRRGH!!!
Im gonna go cry in my "noob again" pillow....lol

LED...The Second Coming...
I have a Procyon and a lightblaze 400 and if I get my PPM above 500 I start to get N spots on the ends of my fan leaves and that's on 4 1/2 week old veg plants in a drip hydro set up. At week 5 I flower 16" to 18" plants from clones. If I keep the PPM at around 400 to 450 the plants love it and that's also keeping the LED's 20" away. I have been doing the same strain for about 4 years now and veging under HID 15" to 18" away I can slam the PPM up to 1,100 by 4 1/2 weeks with out one spot on them. So my experience so far is plants under high powered LED's do not like a lot of food. Don't get me wrong it's a good thing but it's something to keep in mind. To make a long story short I use half the strength of nutrient and it works awesome. LOL

LED...The Second Coming...
thanks bozo....and dogz...you sir are correct, I definitely learned that i was using too much fert in the last grow...maybe there is a co-relation between LEDs, and needing less nutes...soooo.....
ALAS!!! an experiment shall be born...i will use my new procyon to grow out the "control" plants...and the 3 light grow area for nutes...
any suggestions?..outlines of experiment? i was thinking 8 plants in 1 gal pots under the single light....NO nutes, I wont even use FFoF on these...just a soil mix and perlite....little lime for Ph control...
and in the big room...I'll do 3 varying levels of nutes...sound good..imput please

LED...The Second Coming...
no problem dogz...no need for a whipe....they are awesome people....he just didnt wanna bunch of people askin for freebies that didnt do shit...we did spend $1800 with them too...lol...As a company, I hold their ethics in high regard, as well as the product...they never told us they would give us anything till after LED1...so our appreciation of the product was genuine, and we honestly did probably sell alot of those lights for them....they said thank you, and I really appreciated it...It will now be the star of another experiment!!!

edit: and while it wasn't ground-breaking, with a few tweaks, I am pretty sure ours is the most successful LED ganja grow...So obviously, they did something right with their light:cool:

i'd have to disagree whiskey, i believe it was ground breaking and i believe you deserve anything the Procyon people want to give you.
anyway, keep up the good work and thank you very much for sharing it here with us!

LED...The Second Coming...
Well fellas- WT and DB- here is my take on just desserts for all this.
Not only did you prove that it is POSSIBLE to grow a crop to harvest under LEDs, you proved that it was POSSIBLE FOR A NOOB to do it. Before I saw your grow and log, I'd always regarded LEDs as a technology whose time was coming, but had not yet arrived, since they were being used mainly experimentally, and by geeks (I mean this in the best possible way; my SO is a serious Trekkie, lol).
Putting a good quality product, with its groundbreaking design and construction, in the hands of a newcomer to this whole indoor scene, and seeing that it WASN'T just for geeks any more, totally changed my view on the things.
So yeah, you deserve the thanks not only of Procyon, but of the industry in general- good showing; keep it up!

LED...The Second Coming...
I would have the "nuted" plants and the "un-nuted" plants side by side under the same lights, watering schedule and everything the same except for the nutrients.

I look forward to the nutrient experiment. I'm not that coordinated when it comes to nutrients, so I'd like to see the difference in your grows. I'm seriously intrigued about those lights too. I've lurked here and there in your threads, and my apologies for not having left but 2 replies by now; but, I don't like to show my ignorance too much.
From what I gather, you are certainly deserving of the Procyon sponsorship. I just think you need to keep your eye on them - stop them short of putting "Procyon" bumper stickers on your pots.
Be good out there!

LED...The Second Coming...
That's the truth you guy's are Definitely the true pioneer in the whole LED switch over. May all your goals come true this time around. Then the investments definitely will be made by many of us. With that said there is no price tag for what you guys have done for Procyon. I can't wait to see the tweaks that you guy's make this time around.

I'm going to have to break down and get Showtime just for Weeds. That is one of the best shows of all time!
I can't wait for the new log, whiskey! I don't know if it's the same for other people, but when I mess up, I tend to remember the lesson a whole lot more. I'm sure your next grow will be incredible.

WT --
just wanted to say, I mustve read the first LED grow log at least 5 times. I followed it very closely and it convinced me to buy a Procyon (for my first grow... so hopefully theyre as noob-friendly as stinky thinks they are). I have about 4 of 8 seeds starting to sprout and will be starting a grow log on here myself soon, so I will be looking to your second log for guidance (learned something new about FFoF, thats for sure lol... sorry, not funny about your babies. =/)
So yeah, wanted to extend some more props (even though youre already blushing lol) and say thanks for all the time and hard work youve put in for us all.

Hey guys I was thinking, after reading that blue light makes more females ?? maybe thats why your %ratio% was down last run. because of the mostly red light, that the procyon's have. Might need to have more Blue for first couple weeks.
hmmmmmm....:wtf:

That sounds like a logical reason. New plants in the maturing stage, when sex is determined, can sense that extra red light which to them means it's later in the season... not much time left for making seeds before it's all over, and would cause more to be male.
It's the only thing that turns me off about LEDs... it's not as simple as switching from a veg bulb to a flower bulb. If they could eventually make a kit of some kind for easily converting a Procyon from flower to veg spectrums, that would be so cool, but still so expensive. Or can the individual red LED lights be popped out and more blue ones stuck into their place? I don't know enough of how they work, but that'd be cool to just plug 'n play with the little LEDs.
I eagerly await your next attempt whiskey. Good luck!
