My pots for the smaller plants are 3 gallon pots. The big plant is in a 5 gallon pot.
All the plants are in a 50/50 Mixture of fox farms ocean forest and promix.
I just flushed them yesterday and they already have additional holes in the pot for drainage.
I'm confident 3 of the plants are rootbound but with up to 6 more weeks to go I don't know if I should go ahead and repot them or just let them deal with it for 6 more weeks. I'm not sure exactly how long these should flower due to the fact that they were bag seed but I can tell that they are not even close to being done. New calyxes and pistils still popping up. 95% white pistils on all the plants.
I haven't even bothered looking at trichome color yet due to the fact that they look like they still have a long way to go.
I probably won't have pics until this saturday. What do you think SnS? Transplant or try to hold off?
I know transplanting will probably give me bigger buds but it'll probably add another week or two onto my flower time :(.
-
Flowering log / Picture log
pulled the plants from their pots and they are very much rootbound. What a disappointment.
I'm going to go ahead and transplant them all tomorrow morning and deal with the added time on the plants
I'd rather have quality plump buds instead of mediocre buds just because I was trying to hold out for 6 more weeks. In reality 6 weeks is still a long ways off.

I've always had great luck with transplants not stressing out after I move them into a new pot. They seem to keep going on as if nothing ever happened. Let's hope this does the same.

Dahashi,
Try alternating nute formulated water and plane water, plus cut out the mollasses and just use the sweet stuff or horticultural sugars if you continue adding sugars. I cut mollasses out of my formula and never had problems since.
When I water I use one gallon each 5 gallon bucket about every 3rd day. Again alternating plane and nuted water.
I also use the fox farm nute program to the T. and add nothing more nothing less. Keeps it simple.
Very nice looking plants by the way, Your going to need a lot of support rods for them, they look like they are going to be heavyweights.

Yeah I started alternating nutes and plain water about 2-3 weeks ago.
I just transplanted all my plants today. 4 of them from 3gallon pots into 5 gallon pots and my big plant went from a 5 gallon pot into a 7 gallon pot. It's amazing how it got so rootbound in a little over 1 months time.
Got some new pics today too. Here we go.
Pic 1: Overall shot. March 14th
Pic 2: Overall shot March 29th.
Pic 3: Cola Shot March 14th
Pic 4: Same Cola Shot March 29th
edit: They yellow on the leaves is from the HPS light. For some reason it didn't show up in the cola shots last time I took the pic.
Also of interesting note, bud growth on the smaller plants is growing way faster than on my monster plant.
Checked out the trichs today. Pretty much 90-95% all clear or a little cloudy. I did come across one trichome that had barely a little amber down toward the bottom of the gland. That was kind of weird. I searched all over the plant for more amber but that was the only one. Guess he was a rebel without a cause. lol

Just for fun.
Pic 1: Cola shot Feburary 26th
Pic 2: Same cola shot (in previous post) March 29th.
4 weeks later. This thing has really filled out. I guess it just seems slow since I see them every day.
edit: Those are the same cola in both pictures. I've made sure to take consistent pictures of this cola for a growth reference.

I'm not sure. I'm thinking anywhere between 3-6 weeks out. All my trichs are still clear/barely cloudy and the plants appear to just be making new calyxes/pistils. Not really plumping up yet.
At this point I'm just going to check the trichs once or twice a week until I see about 10-20% amber.

Yeah. I definitely can't wait for that fat growth spurt that makes everyone's buds look like they should be on the cover of high times magazine (*cough* jerry garcia *cough*) lol.
Hopefully it'll be sometime in the next 2 weeks when the plumping starts.

Damn do those look good.
I see you have lots of side drainage... I'll bet that you wold not have had such good results without it- those plants are HUGE- you have them at about 5-6 main leads per pot? I can't quite tell, but they look bad ass. Little K def going on in an earlier pic but whatever; you'll get to harvest no prob!

The small pots have about about 4 mains each and about another 6 that are close to main cola size.
The big 7 gallon pot has like 20 mains and another 10 that are contenders.
The symptoms showing earlier (multiple symptoms actually)were from being rootbound and me being in denial.
I didn't expect them to eat up 2 more gallons of soil in only 4 weeks time.
Thanks for stopping in stinky. It's always good to have bragging rights that the Princess of Cannabis.com stopped by my log

Y'alls making me blush. Seriously I'd hang out a lot more in peoples' logs if I didn't have to spend so much time playing babysitter... lol~ it's been a week...
I CAN'T WAIT to see harvest pics. How aggressively do you plan to flush them? Are you going to try to force yellowing before harvest, or just do a couple good plain-water-to-runoff waterings in the last week?
I'm VERY impressed all around by the condition of your plants.

Eh, I'm not really sure. I mean I honestly started this grow for some of my friends. I decided to start growing for people with MS, POTS, gastroparesis, etc etc that I know since marinol is so expensive and often leaves sides that alot of med patients don't like compared to the real deal.
Since I don't actually smoke (I vaporize) yellowing the leaves wouldn't be necessary for me.
And some of them can't smoke because their parents would freak out if they found out their 24 year old was smoking some MJ, despite the fact that they try to buy them marinol.. makes no sense to me.
Some of them can't eat it either (gastroparesis or crons) so I was going to make a green dragon type deal for them.
I guess what I'm saying is I'm not sure how aggressively I should flush since the intent of this grow was not really for me, although it's looking like I'm going to have plenty for myself here.
What would you suggest Stinky? I've heard you say you work with med patients.
edit: Oh and I'm not impressed by my plants, but I'm impressed that you're impressed, lol. I made alot of mistakes unintentionally. So many in fact I think my next grow will be almost flawless. In that respect I'm fairly thankful I tried to troubleshoot my issues myself most of the time instead of relying on the forums every time a problem arised.
Also stinky, do you know anyone with conditions I listed? I am particularly interested in MS, POTS and gastroparesis and what those patients like to smoke (strain). I've read the strain/med thread and searched but don't ever come up with any hits and if I do then the strain that is recommended is not available in seed form from any seed banks :(

I'd do a proper flush just because the end result will be smoother all around, and less chlorophyll is good even if you are doing concentrates.
As for conditions, of the ones you listed the only one I have experience with (not personally) is MS, and for that, I've gotten good feedback on Jillybean aka Space Jill, and Pure Power Plant.

I normally don't do this but here's a middle of the week bonus shot from my sexy ladies.
I hadn't actually looked at them in a few days and they've really seem to be thanking me for the new space I gave them in their 5 gallon pots.
Here are some shots of what it all looks like now
Pic 1: Shot of the Canopy
Pic 2: Another shot of the canopy
Pic 3: Shot of a cola top with my hand behind it.
Pic 4: Shot of another plants cola top. Color came out great on this one.
Pic 5: Shot of my monster 7 gal plants cola. It's thinner than the rest but feels alot denser. I'm still hoping it'll plump up though.

Pic 6: Another plants cola top
I have so many of these fat colas I don't know what to do. They haven't even began to plump up yet. These are just more calyxes that are growing. I can't wait for the fattening phase.

I'm on day 47 or 48 of flower. So about a week and a half difference between us.
Yeah they just snuck up on me. I think growth halted due to them being root bound and now that I've given them some more leg room they've thanked me by showing it up top with some nice calyx production.
BTW Congrats on the mention in High Times!

I had no idea your grow was looking that good.
I would start to stake up those colas, they look to be leaning already.
They look ready to put on weight fast so I would be prepared.
Great work Dahashi you are well on your way to buds like mine.

Thanks JG, Thing is that most of them are staked up/supported. You can't really see in the pics but I have long bamboo skewers that I use to hold up the colas.
Geez I can only hope my buds look as fat as yours. I already know they're not going to be high resin producers like yours because of their genetics but if I can make them look fat and swollen like yours I'd be very happy.

Also I had my only 2 friends that know about the grow come over last night and give it a smell test. To see if they smelled the same things as I smelled.
Without giving them any direction I asked them to touch a flower top and then smell their fingers and tell me what it smells like.
They both agreed (I brought them in seperately so they wouldn't be influenced by each other) that two of them smells sort've like a mango/Starfruit, the monster one has an orange/lemon scent to it, and the 2 other smaller sativa's smell kind of lemony/skunky.
I didn't get massive resin production like I wanted but at least I got some fruity smelling crops.
I'm hoping the taste will complement the smell.

Daihashi,
You are going to have to be paitiant. I saw you are around 45 days into flower, you may be in for another 30 days, I harvested mine in the 70s or higher days. If you really need bud I heard Stinky has a way to enjoy your grow while it finish's off. Judging by the size of your plants that should not be an issue.

I just remember someone mentioning it in a tread I responded to. My guess is somewhere in the FAQ section, Plus Stinky seems to be following this log so we may get an answer directly from her:)

Nah, I'm never hurting for bud. I make good money and I always have hookups for the reggie but never the good quality $60 an 1/8th kind of stuff. It was just smelling so fruity and good today I wanted to snip a bud. I resisted though. After busting out my microscope hoping that maybe some trichs had turned amber so I could harvest a little nug. No such luck.. all clear/barely cloudy.
I'd rather have my bud be the best it can be before I decide to take a sample.

Are you just trying to keep an even canopy? I accidentally chopped 4" off my big monster plant and I was so sad. I can't imagine doing it voluntarily.
Your grow is looking so good. It's amazing how far lighting technology has come and you guys are a part of exploring a new territory.
I'm already planning out my next grow. It should be interesting. I'll be experimenting with Stomata and Auxin manipulation.
I'll also have a secondary cabinet running a 600 watt hps. My current cabinet will be rebuilt to hold a 400 watt MH with a 7200K color bulb.
oh I have so many cool ideas for this next grow.
-

sweet!!! sounds like ya got the next one planed good:thumbsup:
yeah, i want the canopy a lil more even, and we did have that one plant go like a foot above the others, and its been flowering faster than the others by a good week!!! so i will take off the tops, lower the light, and harvest the rest of that plant with the rest....good reason for an early bio-assay....lol
i would LOVE to get this fucker to go hermy on a bud, lil brown bag and a penlight, talk about SERIOUS F1 vigor...lol, but it grew so fast it stretched the nodes bad....if it goes hermy, I will just top it early so it stays squat....

checked in on the plants today. For some reason during lunch I had a really good idea to drop the temps in the room where my cabinet is setup.
What was the idea? Try closing a couple of vents in the other rooms. I'm not sure why I didn't think of this earlier.
For some bizarre reason my temps have been climbing as the canopy has gotten taller. I'm not really sure why this is. The top of the canopy is about 8-10" away from the light and always has been. Previously my temps had been stable at 76 degrees or so. In the most recent week my temps are at about 80-81 degrees.
Closing a couple of vents in my apartment allowed the cabinet to get down to 75 degrees. YAY.
With all that said, my plants are looking fantastic (I think anyway).
I'm starting to question the big plant. It seems to have buds that are bit more airy compared to the smaller plants. In addition to that they are no where near being as plump. Kind of a bummer. I was really hoping to get 4+ oz off that plant but I'm not sure if I'd even get 2oz even with the mass amount of cola's it has. This is probably just me being pessimistic.
My buds aren't frosty but my god have they gotten super sticky in the last week. If I barely touch a bud and then touch my fingertips together it feels ike they just got stuck to some insect sticky paper or something. Very tacky and sticky. I'm pretty stoked.
I'm thinking of just watering with nutes each watering for the next 2-3 weeks. That's about 4-6 waterings. Reason being is that I will start flushing immediatley after that for the next week and a half. I want to try to force feed the plants as much as possible before I need to start flushing prior to harvest.
I think the plants should be able to handle about 6 normal nute feedings in a row.

So what did I do today.
1. Watered/fed all the plants
2. Did some pruning as many of the plants were unruly.
3. Broke a cola!!
God I'm so mad. I broke a cola that had been bent really bad earlier. It looked like it was healed so I took off the splint and it was holding the weight pretty well. I rotated the pot kind of hard and it just completely gave out.
It was barely hanging on just by the skin. I went ahead and made another splint and twisty tied it all together in several spots in hopes that it will heal together.
It wasn't a main cola but it was a pretty decent size. Would probably double in size in the next 3-4 weeks.
Let's hope that it heals. If it's wilted and falling over by tomorrow afternoon or friday morning I'm probably going to chop that cola and hang it up to dry.
I'm pretty ticked... grrrrrrrrrr
-
Flowering log / Picture log
by some miracle it looks like that cola is going to live on. None of the leaves are limp or wilted looking.
Let's hope it continues to hang on for dear life. As odd as it sounds I really don't want to have to dry/smoke this cola. Well I don't want to dry/smoke it prematurely.. let's put it that way.

This has been an awesome thread, almost an nice as your crop! I really admire your patience. The broken cola would have been just the excuse I needed to start taste testing.
Best of luck in the home stretch!
