Rock that stuff was not only the list of super-cool-stuff-to-use given to me by my hydro guy so I'm afraid I'm not familiar with it.
What exactly does it do?
wow, opportunity to help u instead???
hell MUSTA froze over,LOL!
well, 1st this is a foliar spray, so can b used hydro, or not.
2nd, hydro-store guy, where i got it said "there are similar products out there, but THIS is the BEST"
and well, just like the lil disclaimer says: Dutch Master's Max-FX Grow and Flower foliar feeds were designed to feed your leaves complex carbohydrates and amino acids that cannot make it through the root zone.
Max-FX increases fruit size by up to 30% and produces a tastier more aromatic yield with much higher sugar content on the Brix Scale. The result is larger sweeter tasting plants!
it was also noted in the product brochure that it increases flower size up to 30% as well.
these are good enuf reasons for me to give it a try.
it was only 30 clams for the pint, and use is 4 tablespoons per quart of spray solution(water), twice a week till runoff of leaves.
he also suggested I use a lil less than directions.
i use 10 oz. water, with 1 tablespoon MAX and 1 tablespoon Penetrator, and i dump about 2 oz. down the drain when done.
i will say this, the flowers are bigger EVERY DAY.
could b the HPS.:wtf:
could b the MAX.:wtf::wtf:
could b BOTH.:wtf::wtf::wtf:
Hopefully it is both! I Might Meander down the the hydro shop, this evening and see what they have for foliar feeds. I also like how it states 30% bigger flowers! YAY!! lol
Like they say "Big Flower's....Big.......Pot..." hahaha
Does it say how long you are supposed to use it during flower? I'm REALLY paranoid of mold and fungus since my WR's came up with some.....I've always heard it's bad voodoo to spray stuff on buds unless absolutely necessary.
I just took another look at that nice light of yours. Very nice....and it's about time you got on the ball. :D
well, as far as "when" or "how often"?
the only thing it says is twice a week.
I will say this. This morning, I went thru my lil foliar shenanigans and the leaves were completely dry in the 10 minutes it took me to make a cup of coffee!
now, i dont know if, they were thirsty(possible as i am letting the soil really dry out a couple days before next watering), or if this 'wetting agent' makes it absorb faster, or the heat from the HPS(doubt that, i did the hand test when i set it up) but the fact is I was shocked by how fast it completely dried up.
I am definately with u on the mold concerns, but, its early in the girls cycle, so, i figure i'm cool. Plus, like I said, I have noticed growth every morning. I will likely not use for the duration of this stage, but, will for a coupla weeks at least for sure:D
if any GrowHeads can offer insight on when i should STOP spraying, please do post up, and Thanks!
and remember, this is a Thai and we have 2 months to go yet.
Jesus, 2 months! what the hell was i thinkin clonin Thai:wtf:
The penetrator does make things absorb faster imo. I use something called VHO by Advaned nutrients that is used in the veg stage as opposed to flower.....daily until two weeks after you turn them.
Make sure you are raising your light WAY high to let those things dry out....they'll burn easier under hps than the cfls. ;)
prolly a good foot n half to the light.
like i said, i did the 'hand' test, made sure it wasnt too hot.
hey, temps been dippin to about 60 in the room at night (dont ask, attic vents, old house, no insulation) you think that will be a problem?
i know they dont like extreme changes in day/nite temps.
whats too extreme?:wtf:
It's the HPS.Quote:

space heater? wow, i dont need more electric stuff.
what i really need is some kinda damper and thermostat controlling the attic vents.
hmm, that sounds like a good idea, maybe this weekend.
my worry is roasting them with the HPS.
and im paranoid to burn the place down.
I'll check different scenarios this weekend.
i only hung it sunday, so, i had no chance to evaluate and i worked late every day, and was dam cold when i got home.
i think they might be gettin a lil yellow from the temp changes.
i gotta check that grow guide and see. the one does look like its fadin a lil.
not sure, but im sure i can fix it, whatever it is.
it might also be reacting to the nutes.
this grow is kinda all new-
-clones
-hps
-new sprays
-fall/winter
Im sure you will get it taken care of rock.
Would adding insulation to the outside of the grow room help?
e
nah, thats not it. but thanks for the thought;)
im using the attic as cool air input to the room, for fresh air and also to keep the temps from going too high with the HPS.
ill have all day tomorow to evaluate.
60 isnt terribly cold but it WILL slow growth down. Better get on that before they get upset. :( There's always tons of theories but I like to stay between 65-75. ;)
im on it, like trichs on a nug:thumbsup:
Space heater isn't going to burn your shit down, make your own thermostat, from a car equipped with an electric fan, or rig one up yourself. I helped my friend making a thermostat for his grow room, because here in Oregon, it can get pretty damn cold even with a insulated home at night.
So we did exactly that, when the temp. reached 68 degrees, the heater kicked on, and kicked off at 74.8. That way we didn't suck too much oxygen out of the room and didn't let too much heat build-up.
Well just a thought. ~ Later
Carl, thanks, thats not what i meant.
i have been paranoid of the HPS getting too hot.
its in a small space, 7x3.
i thought about the Tstat, but decided i didnt need it.
i was over compensating with cool attic air.
i think i gave the girls a lil chill at nite this past week.
MANY leaves are losing color and yellowing. at this point im not sure if they are rushing into the leaf dropping phase, or the cool night temps freaked them out a lil.
ill watch and try to make sure i dont freeze em this week.
meanwhile, the weirdest thing:wtf:
the flowers smell like grapefruit!:wtf:
yes, i said grapefruit!:wtf:
where is RHIZOME!!!
Rhiz, question for you o knowledgable one!
this new spray im using, MAX FX, claims to increase sugar content and flower size. Can i assume (as i did) that in our favorite plant, increasing sugar content would be a good thing, right? (sugar=trichs?????)
I kno the flowers are growing like mad, and theyr all crystally already!:D
what ya think? and any ideas on the yellowing event?
Ill snap some pics tomorow.
thanks!
yeah, need photos....ages.........older leaves yellowing and falling off or younger ones?
mostly lower ones.
just kinda weird.
im thinkin either she's inspired by the lite, and/or the cool nite temps last week, and/or, nutes???:wtf:
ill snap a couple pics in mornin.
i think once i figure out how to stabilize temps all 12 months, ill be golden.
oh yeah, this is start of week 6, oops:wtf::D
yeah, pixel speak a thousand words... LOL!
ok, heres pix
should i be concerned?
im just a bit spooked, cause its like all the fan leaf, all at once.

it could also be something i never seen before, now that i have good lite.:wtf:
Oh Rock....I'm just not smart enough with soil to say....that looks to me like normal nitrogen being used up by the plant....but if it is your sativas don't they have about 8 more weeks until done so that seems kind of fast and furious to me.....we need Rhizome or Stinky or Reaper to weigh in here.....:(
Looking at your post about smelling like grapefruit....one strain I was growing I could SWEAR smelled like mint....my friend said it smelled like citrus and the hubby said it smelled like regular ganja so.....:wtf:
yeah, im waitin for my roommate to reappear to confirm or deny the scent. I'm thinkin maybe the increased sugar output from the spray is making them smell fruity.
the stuff did say it would produce sweeter plants.
and like i said, yeah, might just be normal, and maybe the lites n new spray n that lil chill i gave them last week are expediting the leaf-drop process???:wtf:
i suppose anything is possible, right?
with this being week 6, comparo to the mother, yeah, about another 8-10 weeks, but, maybe with this grow having HPS instead of cfl's. maybe she's pickin up the pace a lil bit.?
where o where are our dirty lil experts???
Im no expert but I at least can send some positive vibes to them.
Get well soon girls!!
e
Can cold weather bring the PH down? Just curious, cuz looks like Nitrogen def. to me?? BTW Grapefruit? Thats knarley!
Rock here is a great Sick plants guide as well. Revised: The Complete Guide To Sick Plants,pH and Pest Troubles - PlanetGanja.com
thanks Carl, yeah, i have a saved and a printed copy of that previously.
excellent info in there, most comprehensive list of troubles ive ever seen on the nobel herb.
unfortunately, the info contained didnt really point me in 1 direction or another.
i'm hoping one of our resident gurus will chime in on this one.
and thanks for the good vibes E;)
Carl I'm not sure about temps affecting ph in soil....but I can say that colder temps will have the plant thinking "hurry up and finish" plus he's topped the living be-jesus out of the thing so I'm sort of thinking more nutes.....but you really DO need to start thinking about ph Rock....like.....how to check it and adjust it.:wtf:
Rock I wouldn't add any nutes though if I were you until you talk to someone who knows what going on....;)
hmmm, ok, so, where o where are the resident xperts when i need em.
Hound, what u say makes sense, and exactly what i was thinkin. if they got a lil colder than they wanted, yeah, they might be thinkin, "ok, hurry and finish".
im not sure what the exact results would be from that scenario, but maybe a blast of cold air is a way to hurry them up a lil?????????:wtf:
the other thing im thinkin/hopin, is, if they drop fan leaf in a hurry, and return to stable temps, maybe then they can concentrate just on flower.
my mom has a plant that vegg's all year, unless u blast it with co2. thats some cold chit. so, maybe same theory applies?????
but i am just speculating.
maybe a blast of arctic when flowering, is the key to speeding things up. A variety of peeps been askin bout speedin the flwr cycle.
topped only 3 times.
is that the bejesus quotient?
For a sativa....yes....bejesus quoteint reached....:D
I know cold weather does speed them up ("hey....winter's coming....we have to hurry") but it will cost you in yield Rock. Watching this plant I have finish like it's in a speed race make me realize that I'm not sure the trade off is worth it. :(
hmmm, agreed, im not looking to reduce yeild, but i wouldnt mind if they hurried up a lil bit, 16 weeks is a longassed time.
i bet the comrades beat them to the finish line:wtf:
some quick pics, the upload is down:wtf:
so, attachments they are:smokin:
holy crap, i cant belive its that ez to load pics that, way.
ok, couple more.
today is week 7.1
last 1 ;)
They look great Rock.....have you thought perhaps giving them a watering with a drop of superthrive to pop them with a little extra nitrogen.....i woudn't make a habit of it but a one time shot....
I love that last photo....you should make that one your avatar. ;)
haha, funny u should suggest.
last watering (nearly a week:wtf:) was just water.
this one, was BigBloom n SuperThrive, plus gave em 1 more sprayin w the FX Max.
looks like it could turn into 12 colas if they fill in right.:jawdropper:
i think i let em get a lil too cool, now i cut back on cool air flow.
really gettin crystally early, i keep goin to my other log to compare the stages, mother to daughters.

page 18 was 7 weeks, a bit different for sure.:wtf:
The second set of plants look much happier than the first. Thank god I've taught you SOMETHING LOL!!!! :S2: I have a feeling all that topping you did will add some time to your blooming....but the hps will work the other way. Wonder which one will win....;)
hmmm, wonder if i have thai chocolate hearts for Valentines???:wtf:Quote:

Lol.....did you ever read one of my threads about the time I supercropped the living shit out of one of my sets of plants? I REALLY screwed them up but I went WAY more crazy than you did.
I think balancing nutes and watering will see you through. I thought I read somewhere that people usually add nutes every third watering (to prevent buildup in the soil) but I'm not positive SO DONT RUN OFF AND DO IT unless you've heard that elsewhere.....like from somebody who knows. :D
thanks for the cool idea, good eye, i like it too.Quote:

no, didnt see that threead.
i only clipped these twice.:wtf:
they did split kinda weird.
gettin ready to clip the comrades, there'r at their 5th node already.
