and 1 more...
well today will be day 12-13... Got some bigger pots for the 1st transplant.. they are 1.5 gallon trash cans. which should easily last me all the way through vegging and then once I start to flower I have some 2 and half gallon trash cans...
Also bought some perlite to mix with my soil for the transplant which some said my soil looked a little heavy so that should help..
anyway ill probably transplant later today or tomorrow(most likely tomorrow), Since now there will not be any room left on the floor for the fans im gonna have to find a different way to mount them... and do a little cleaning before I transplant(spilled some dirt etc)...
Pics later today or tomorrow..
oh and incase anyone was wondering.. I plan on vegging until about the first week of January which should allow me ot finish flowering around late February/early march..
Well its been a little while since I posted and Im having some problems....
1. I know I need to transplant bad..
anythough... some of the leafs are turning brown and becoming very dry on the edges, any ideas? heres some pics...
You have a nice seedling but they are turning yellow and then brown maybe cause your lights are to close to the plants.
Try to raise up you lights . Height between plants and light should be at least 30 - 35 cm .
I thought with flos and compact flos they could be only a few inchs away cause when I put my hand above the plant its not even warm...
Lack of updates I know...
So lets see... the plants turned about a month old yesterday... they finally got transplanted about 5 days ago(I know that hurt there growth).... they got a new home so heat is not to much of an issue now... I ended up trimming off all the dead leafs... i started feeding... I dont have axx to any real good nutes like fox farm and what not so since its my first grow I just started with something easy.. some mg 24-8-16 mixed with 1/8 tsp per 1 gallon of water and watering about every 2-3 days or when they look a little droopy ill post some pics later today
small update.. should be on about day 30 something now... things have been rough
Well after a good overlook of all the plants it looks like they are all showing pre flowers... and its looks good 3 females and 1 male.... Ill post some pics just to make sure what im seeing is right... but big diff between hairs and balls right.. :)... as I found out neither my phone, my digital camera, or my video camera take very good close up still pics.. but here is the best pic of the "male" plant that I could get.. female pic to follow
Small update.. well we are somewhere around and month and 3 weeks of veg.... here is just a pic for now
nice, cant wait to see sum budz :rastasmoke:
I really like this grow a lot.
Nice set up!
Do you have good drainage holes in the bottom?
Why did you remove that bottom shelf that the buckets were sitting on?.... that was a perfect idea to keep those temps down.
Looks like plants 1,2and 4
Are super healthy but the 3rd one might be struggling.... which one do you think is male???
Also I was going t reccomend that you switch to 18/6 and chop the male.
Nice gro bro
Very sweet grow. Nice, neat and controlled. Keep up the good work.
all the buckets(trash cans) have good drainage.. I drill at least 6-10 pea sized holes so thats fine...Quote:

I already chopped up the male so I just have 3 females now..
out of the 3 females 1 is def smaller than the others probably by about 2-3" I think its just cause that way I had transplanted a little later then the others.... anyway Ill post some more pics in a few days... I probably wont start flowering for at least another month or 2... mainly cause I wanna get a new light(hps) first and play around with making some clones(which will be new to me)
Yay can't wait to see some updates.
I like this grow a lot like I said...
I'm probably gunna shot for the same type of one.
I saw some 65w hps bulbs.... could I use these in normal sockets and make my own refectors.. I'm not sure the lumen output but I'm sure that I could get awya with 4-7 bulbs and do a full grow.....
thanks
hps lights use mogul sockets so you cant use a normal socket...
Im sure you could make your own reflector

Guess I waited to long to edit my post.. anyway heres what I was going to post....
I have noticed on some of the tips of my leafs there are little yellow spots, its pretty random and not in any particular order that I can see..
Pic 1: You can see of the tips yellowing.
Pic 2: This one is the worst, none of the other leafs are nearly this bad..
Pic 3: An attempted close up of a leaf tip..
Pic 4: Just an overall shot...
Well today I finally found a good shop around me that had tons an tons of stuff I needed and was pretty close to my house.. first I got some new ferts... trio pack of fox farms nutes....
annnnd a 600watt hps light... ill go into some more details later with pics but what I can say right off is heat is gonna be a hole new issue with this new light... raised the temps almost 19 degrees in less than 15-20 mins
The tips are pretty normal. Probably not a big issue. If they get worse an if there not a branch and just a single Finger you can just cut them. We know they need there fan leaves but not always. gives inner growth more light also. Good luck with the new light, im sure you will find a way to keep those temps normal.
Your Plants look good and lush.
What kinda Nutrients did you pick up?

Very nice grow you have going, and very good nutes you are going to be using use them myself
here a pic about 2 days old right when I got the new light
There going to love that light, are you keeping the cfl's running also?
Right now no... I only have like 2 that are pointed under the plants to provide some light for the undergrowth.... with the current area they are in im not gonna be able to control the heat so I have decided im gonna move them to a larger area where there will be more space for some more plants.. plus in the new area I will have a place to vent the heat from the light, better able to control light leaks for 12/12, add more lights(when I get more money), and actually be able to walk around in the grow space..
anyway some specs on what I got..
light bulb - 600 watt eye hortlux super hps light
Ballast - future brite electric 120v hps ballast
Reflector - Sunleaves ArcticSun Reflector
Well im in the process of getting there new grow area ready.. in the meantime Im gonna be taking some clones(need more plants since I will have so much more space). I bought some calmag since I have been using distilled water. besides that not a lot of news... heres a pic
I think you are gonna have a lot of bud there. Looks great, first grow and a very nice grow going. Love how you took a thing that had to go and turned it into something so cool. There are a millon of those old tvs out there too bad they arent all being used like yours!
Well today I went and bought a humidifier since the humidity in my grow area was about 14-16% so hopefully I can get those levels back up to around 35-40... the leafs on the plants seemed to be really dry and some were even start to get crispy(thankfully only a couple)...
I also started a few more clones hopefully these come out better then my last attempt(cloning is new to me) first attempt I didnt have any of the right tools(tray, dome, cloning gel(had some powder)) anyway ill keep you updated on those...
I think thats about it for now..Ill post some pics tomorrow...
also, I should have all the plants in there new home within a few days.. soo more room, less heat, ect ect
New pic... they are finally in the new room which I still have a lot to do... paint the walls, get another light, clean things up a bit, and setup the vent for my hood.... new update when everything is cleaned up..
Looks like a nice sized room u got thur, i bet u could get a pretty nice yeild if u fill that sucker to the brim.... MUAHAHAHAHA, sorry my greedy and sinister side just came out for a minute. lol
Also from what i can tell that plant looks relatively untrained, and for that matter very bushy... looks good, keep it up systrex:thumbsup:
ok a couple pics.... and a question.. I have started to see a few very small crystal like balls forming on the stems of the plants, is that normal.. I was just wondering since im not in flowering or anything yet... Thanks
you plan to flower those anytime soon??? much more veg and they wont fit! you gotta remember plants stretch, sometimes double or even triple in height when you flower them...i would start looking to swtich to 12 12 soon
looks real good man and i do agree with pdouble u want to start 12/12 soon b 4 they get to big
I wanna flower soon but I wanna give my clones a couple weeks of veg, test my bubbles setup and prepare my ventilation 4 the smell first. So I will probably flower in a month annnnnd gotta transplant 2 of them before I can even think about flowering
Your going to have some Giants there, Sure it's ok to maintain Veg. Plants look thick btw.
For my 2 bigger plants I got 11 gallon pots(right now they are in 5 gallon pots), they seem root bound to , the roots are just pouring out of the drain holes, its got to the point that they have clogged all 12 drain holes...Quote:

the plants are currently 2 and half feet tall
Im able to keep the light about a foot away with no signs of heat stress or anything(have plenty of air flow)
and my reflector is about a foot tall
so that leaves me with about 3 more feet of grow space...
by the time I start to flower they should be around 3 feet tall and if they double in size that will fine.....
I guess if they do get to tall before I start to flower I can always top em... We will see... Will Post some pics later tonight or tomorrow (also put together a bubbler system to test out)
Some picture updates....
Picture 1 - had to do some pruning as the lower leafs were touching the soil
Picture 2 - Overall view
Picture 3 - Main stem on the biggest plant
Picture 4 Another aerial view
Picture 5 - My newest Project im playing around with
well today was transplant day and what a pain in the ass it was... this was probably the first time I had ever really broken up the root so I really hope they dont go into any sort of shock or anything... I fed each plant with about 3 gallons of water with about 2 tablespoons of big bloom in each gallon..
Pictures
#1 - The big girl before the transplant
#2 - first plant and its roots
#3 -second plant and its roots
#4 - what in the hell is going on with these leafs
#5 - another pic, never even noticed them until I brought them into normal light...
Just guessing, could be either Molybdenum or Nitrogen. If the red keeps spreading inward could be the former.
