Yep, I still have Bridge of Sighs on LP. :D
Also, Trowers earlier work with Procol Harum deserves recognition as well.
Some of you classic rockers will dig this tour -
http://www.classicalbumslive.com/
I try to catch them often and recently saw them do Queen's "A Night At The Opera". They do pretty good work and it's as close as you will ever get to seeing your old faves one last time.
I'm diggin a lot of the new stuff also and caught Interpol about 2 weeks ago for a good show.
I just bought tix for Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Kings of Leon for Holloween night.
Go and check out your local, indie music scene. You'd be surprised how many good, new bands you'll discover.
uh hello? did i miss something. i took nothing away from the classic rock bands. i like them and kknow more about most of them than probably you and everyone else here acting like they do. i love them, and i take nothing away from them or their influence. it seems to be everyone else who is taking away from new music by saying, yeah well it is isnt the beatles. let the beatles be the beatles. guess what, without the guy who invented the guitar, the classic rock guys wouldnt be where they were. not to mention all of their early blues influences you know nothing about. stop trying to be a music purist. there were great people then, there are great people now, you just have to look harder. of course everyone has influences that only makes sense you have to go back to cavemen banging rocks on walls if you want to dive too deep into influences.Quote:

I would also like to point out (once again YAWN) I believe modern artists have as much to offer BUT the title of the thread says it all doesn't it ? CLASSIC ROCK.
Not classic rock v modern rock or anything like that OK!
Please crawl back into your playpen and stop your childish attempts to instigate an argument .
PS I hate the Beatles
yeah, and how many posts did it take someone to say modern rock cant compare. i give people on this website credit for knowing as much about music as you can find on local radio or on now volume 20 and maybe what they see on mtv bet or headbangers ball, so i will say i give most of the people on this site little to no credit for knowledge of music. i am glad you got your laugh though. i was not trying to instigate argument, i would invite you to go look through one of the many threads on here where people are saying blah blah blah pink floyd was the last true band. after you hear the same shit so many times(and this is where my arrogant sense of knowledge comes in, meaning if these people had any knowledge theyd know rock isnt dead) it starts to wear on you. and i also hate the beatles, im just repeating what ive heard. so since we seem to be in agreement, it is all good.
The Beatles made their best music....AFTER they broke up.
Hi.I know this aint a modern v classic tread thing is i've been around a while seen alot of the old bands live :) and up untill a few months ago wasnt really impressed by the modern rock. The only way i had to judge em was from listening to what was played on the radio.Only get 2 decent stations here{ tauranga New Zealand } one The Rock the other Hauraki a classic rock station .Then this live to air tv station started ALT tv they play bands i had never heard of i recon if some of this new stuff had of been round 35 odd years ago when i was a youngun it would be playing on Haurki today it Rocks :)
And you call yourself a stoner.. :thumbsup:Quote:

Are you referring to those who habitually smoke weed and like Pink Floyd "sheep"? Perhaps we just happen to love the amazing songs which they compose. And it may or may not be a coincidence that _most_ stoners like them. :thumbsup:Quote:

How much more pointless can a thread become when it turns into an argument about how classic rock is outdated, in a thread about classic rock? Wow, that's weird. Chill.
Classic rock, new rock... whatever. I know you're a mod, IAP, but seriously... what good does it do to argue over opinion and throw a thread way off course, when you're supposed to be making sure that threads don't become what this thread has become?
QFT! Should you infract yourself? :thumbsup:Quote:

PS The mods thread was not directly a result of this,, but it did kind of bring it to a head as I see conflict between mods and others all the time, however I have no wish to hijack this thread so I will restrict my comments here to Classic Rock.
My classic rock would be Pink Floyd, The Wall. I remembered that song thoroughly as a child.
Looks like someone's a bit scared :thumbsup:Quote:

Sorry you see it as me instigating anything. Just trying to stir a little friendly debate is all. It's all in good fun until someone takes it too seriously.Quote:

As for authority , it may suprise you to know that I don't give a damn about it.
