I have a "pathetic job", as a telecanvasser for a double glazing company. I'm only on £5 an hour, but commission is UNCAPPED meaning you could earn as much extra as you want if you work for it (£10 PP under 10, £20 PP over 10).
I get to chose every week how many hours I work, nothing is set in stone. I get 4 weeks holiday a year, but can take a day off whenever I need it.
Plus, I work in a room mostly full of FIT girls. Oooo yer.
Above all, I enjoy my job. I wouldn't work there if I didn't.
I drive a Delivery Truck and don't make enough!
Not having any money sux.... I am doing ok now, but in my lifetime, I have had to start from scratch with nothing but the clothes on my back, and my knowledge/skills, no less than 3 times. I have been fortunate enough to never have had to file bankruptcy..... but there was a time when it was real close. There have been times when I had to work as many as 3 jobs just to make ends meet.Quote:

Mississippi Steve...I don't think there is anyone in the world who WANTS to get up and go to work. Nobody likes it. I guarantee you won't find anyone that totally loves his/her job. Ideally, everyone would love staying at home and just sitting on their asses. But, work keeps you active and alive...so? I guess it's a forced thing.
If any of you had the choice. You could sit at home and money would be coming to you. Or you had to go and work? My ass would anyone choose work.
Money isn't anything to me but I wouldn't mind being comfortable and better off. As long as the bills are paid, my parents are comfortable and I've got enough money to end the night with a joint....That is true happiness for me.

money is a facilitator. it is true it is important but equally true it is not everything. a job can be simply a way to earn money or can be an excuse to do what you love and get paid for it.
i think really you have to question what motivates you, for me it is not material as i have been in abundance of this my whole life, but furfilment. doing something i enjoy and being abe to work in an enviroment that challenges and stimulates me.
i completely disagree with hero. i honestly don't think that if people didnt have to work they wouldn't. this may be true of people who work jobs they hate or because they need the money to survive. but more fool them as there is alot more to working. working is part of the food that nurishes the soul. it helps to give us identity and a social position. it is also a great marker for character and the person you are.
if you sit at home all day smoking and buming of welfare then you are weak. if you are productive and resourceful and craft a live of reward then you are strong. i was going to be a lawyer/barrister and i was doing exceptionally well at it. but my only motivation for it was money. yes i would have been helping and representing people but i found the whole process soulless. so ive gone back to college and will be going back to uni to study computer game animation and programing and whilst the money may not be as lucrative i am so much more happier and my life is so much more richer.
but it is all about your personal worth. some people see and judge people by their money and assests, but not all.

To answer your question, I work for a broadcasting company that has buisness all over the country. I work an -average- of 50 hours a week so there's always overtime.
A weak guess would be 30k a year. maybe more, maybe less.
It's not a career but I'm fine until I finish school.

I don't believe money will buy happyness, but I do think it will help. I mean most divorices are due to money problems. I don't need to be rich, but I do want to be "well off", and I think that a solid understanding of money and finances will help me achieve that even if I don't make 6 figures......which is possable in finance carrers.

23, GED (General Education Diploma), and getting $6.50 an hour at an disc vending plant on an assembly line. Been working there for 2 weeks now. The state of alabama has no recommended minimum wage so it can be whatever in our area, last time the suggestion was 4.75 then 5.15. In a city nearby, I beleive the suggestion was raised to 6.75 or 7.15 and hour as minimum wage.
Working hard with mary jane in my mind, maybe one day I'll see her again. No idea what kind of career I want. At first I thought Forest/Park Ranger, but there are WAY too many people fighting for that, despite it's incredibly underpaid position, plus insane requirements. I'm leaning towards Security, Carpentry, Fisherman or Groundskeep.

I work at a place that makes timber window and door frames...all i do all day is plain, sand and paint the bastards, I've only been there 4 weeks and I'm already getting bored of it lol bout £800 a month i think...won't b there for long and i've yet to find what i really want to do...and am 21 soon!
I don't think money can buy happiness but it can open up alot of opportunities for you and let you do some of the things that would make you happy that you might not be able to do without money..if that made sense? :jointsmile:
Unemployed college student here. Its pretty difficult to find a job, but trying to get some type of entry job dealing with computers/hardware/design.

Fortunately now I'm married to a girl who currently does $62,000 a year as an insurance broker (NOT an insurance carrier, but someone who negotiates with the carrier to get better employee benefits to companies), and I stay with our 2-year-old and 2-month-old, while raising delicious cannabis in the closet. It works out cuz I don't like thinking about money and office competition and she does. When the kids go to school I'll study botany and literature with absolutely no intention of turning it into a career.

I went to a trade school and took a job doing something trade related, I'd rather not say what I do exactly but its fixing something you would learn in a trade and I'm making about 55k a year after 5 years. And I still love my job and do it every day with a smile. I couldn't be happier, unless I was doing the same thing and getting paid a lot more :DQuote:

I ever had, just out there on the open road, those Big rigs are fun to drive once you get the hang of it, infact if I did not have a prison record I would be out there right now, just going down the open road. But I cant cross the border so the big rigs wont hire.

I'm currently in the process of studying to be a mechanical engineer. At this point in time I'm interning for a company at a little over $18/hour.
I feel like marijuana has set me back a little bit, just because it makes me lazy as hell, but I don't regret doing it at all. Getting high is one of my favorite hobbies.
