Holy Shit m8 I absolutely cannot wait to see your yield! That is freaking amazing. How many plants do you have in all? how many that size? You are going to have to fed ex me some of your final and I will send you some grapefruit!! Wouldn't that be nice.
Anyway, you are welcome! Anything I can do to help out. When I was new on here. and had questions I had someone that held my hand a long so all I can do is give it back. That is what this community is for!
I am sure your plants are thanking you! do you feel better?
I am considering a change of fertilizers. Jack's Classic is very good and is recommended on many sites. It has one drawback, there is no calcium. I have relatively soft water here, so I need to supplement the calcium. If I can find some chelated calcium, that will work as well. Otherwise, I'll switch products. BTW, where do I ship to??? :)
we can talk about the shipping stuff later. as far as Nutes... I recommend what I use and you will find it at your hydro store Fox Farms grow big for veg and Fox FarmsTiger bloom for flowering stage.( contains calcium nitrate in it) It also contains micro nutes ect. You can also buy a bag of dolomite lime or Garden lime (same thing) for calcium and mag. It also works as a ph buffer in the soil Just grab a small handful and sprinkle it on top of your soil before you water next. In the future you can mix a bit in with your soil when you are potting.
BTW check out my thread when you get the chance, I have posted some bud pics. See what you think..
Good luck,
Elway
Yah, I have the dolomite lime already. Unfortunately it is absorbed very slowly. I ground some up to a powder and soaked it in water, then applied in a foliar spray. Not sure if it is working though. Fortunately, the local store has the products you have recommended. I was surprised at the extent of their inventory. But then, this is California! Now, let me look for your thread!
foliar spray? bad Idea! I tried that and it fucked up my plants and leaves. I would stick to the soil m8
BTW the pics are on the second page...
Well here we go. Just acquired a digital PH tester, and a gallon of Tiger Bloom. The molasses was already here. I'm going to do a side by side comparison of the Tiger Bloom and the Jack's Classic Bloom Booster. I'll keep you folks posted.
Elway, How many teaspoons of Tiger Bloom are you pushing per gallon?
Awesome! congrats. It's always fun to get new stuff for the babies!
Right now, I am using 2 tsp per gallon, but I had to work up to that. Maybe start with 1.5 Tsps and make sure they handle that. Seeing the plants are so large.. they will probably handle more.... But start with 1.5, then move to two. I think the directions say between 2-3 tsps per gallon?? and your BIG plants will probably need that but start small so you don't accidentally burn them...
On mine, I started with 1 moved to 1.5 then to two.. That's all they can handle I can tell by looking at them.. At the same time though, mine are a lot smaller than yours.
Maybe Stinky will be able to help you as well and we can figure out what's probably best for your plants together..... I have never grown anything so large
Those WW are amazing. I was allowed access to their sanctum sanctorum earlier today. Wonderful smell and those afghans are nothing to sneeze at either!
Wow! in Napolean Dynamite's words " LUCKY"! I wish I lived close. But be careful who you let know where you live FF. I am not saying that your a bad guy DB... I am sure you are just fine! it's just that some people just should not know where you live when you have a hobby such as this!!
Can't wait for the updates!!
Thanks Elway! The ladies will not get their fix until Monday. That watering I gave them on Wednesday will hold them until at least Monday. Your admontion of keeping this project private is wise. Dr. Bloor is my personal phyisician, and has been a family friend for many years. Have a good weekend. Be back in a couple of days.
Oh no I figured you knew him, I was just saying out loud to you and whomever else reads it. That's all. cheers. Let me know how they look after getting a nice flush! different? better? see ya later!
Hey ALL! Had to perform an emergency C-section on my late term Afghan. I observed a small amount of bud rot developing on two of the massive top buds. I excised that portion of the affected area. Not much involved, probably lost about 1/16 of dried bud. Saved at least 1 oz of dried bud. I don't see any other signs of further rot. I have the fan running in the GH all day. I'll keep a close eye on the situation. I think one of the problems is that this plant has such tight buds, that there is not much circulation in the bush. The many shade leaves are masking the enormous isize of these buds. One week, maybe two, and it's coming out! BTW It's so sticky that I couldn't pull my fingers apart!
what part of california do u live at like by sac?i know many people including myself who would love sum WW and afgan:jumphappy:
Sorry Always, this grow is merely an in-house project.
always you shouldn't even hint or allude at wanting to buy from someone....send a PM for that.........
retiredFF that plant is amazing! its like jack and the beanstalk....gonna post any pics of your buds/yield?
Fire, yah I will post some pics later. The WW is kicking it into full gear! I will have to borrow a camera that will do it justice. My digital isn't good for zooming in. Just carried the Afghan into the house where the humidity is much lower. I didn't realize just how fragant she is! She's also fucking heavy!
i can't wait for pics!
As your physician I prescribe a well shaken manhattan followed by a nicely packed bowlful. Dr. BloorQuote:

so you smoked and now the only word that will come out of your mouth, is the word "fuck"....Quote:

High, I'm sure there was brain damage before the ganja, but none sufficient to impare my judgement of good weed!
...say what you must, about other strains...but the Widow RULES...
Dutch, This is the first time I've grown it, and the first time for Afghan as well. The WW is so profumatic that when I walk buy it or brush against it, I get a head rush! Can't wait to bring it to fruition! I'll soon start carrying those gals indoors at night to prevent excessive hudity exposure. No easy task since they are 2 feet over my head!
I read this entire thread and all I can say is amazing.
Good luck with the bud rot. Hope you have it under control.
Going to have a shot @ it soon myself and it's cool to see how all of you do it and your various techniques and tips...
Thanks!
...once inside...the darker...the better.Quote:

Dutch, that is labor intensive! Since this is greenhouse growing, I will utilize passive ventilation as well as an exhaust fan. Size permitting, I'll move the plants into the house at night. Next year, I'll emplyee a dehumidifier.
Took all the girls out of the greenhouse today for a straight shot of water and molasses. This was no easy task due to their size and weight. Anyway, I ended up testing the PH going in and the PH coming out. Without any adjustment:
PH in = 7.3
PH out = 4.5
The plants are about 3 weeks from harvest, and showing some magnesium deficiency. Other than that, they are in good health and budding vigorously. I thought that I would get some PH Up and raise the PH going in to 8.3. What do you think? Tinker or just let it be?
...not sure about tinkering with Ph now...but I always included in the normal watering a pinch of epsom salt for mag. during flowering, about once a week.
I have some cal -mag if needed
I used some epsom salts. Here's a pic taken today.
Heading out the roof! I had to move a Juicy Fruit off the bench today. The fan was in a decapitation mode. Warm today
Time to remodel the greenhouse! On another matter, was debating with myself last night as to whether to cut the fertilizer on the widows. The left side of my brain won; they get one more shot of Tiger! P.S. Tried a bit of the homemade hash that I extracted via Everclear. Way surpassed my expectation!
Here are some pics taken today. Maybe a week or so to go!
wow, they're really fat now.
Maybe a couple more weeks...
Have you checked the trichomes yet?
Buzz. Checked them this morning. They are about 90% cloudy w/ a few starting to take on an amber hue. It's getting close. I want them to fully developed and swollen, but have to pay close attention to the possibility of bud rot. Have a fan going 24/7.
A week sounds about right then, depending on what you want it to smoke like. Nice greenhouse grow by the way, is it getting damp in there now?
