Seat belts do more good than harm. In rare cases does a seatbelt cause death or injury, but its a lifesaver most of the time.
I use mine like 98% of the time I drive. It's a habit. My mom made me wear it when I first started driving.
I always wear it. I have no reason not to. I value my life enough to know better. I've been in about two accidents where my seatbelt was the only thing that saved me. (figurativly, not literally. [car frame and what not])
However, I don't agree with it being a law. I think people need to learn on thier own. It's a waste of time and money to try and force people to value thier life the same way the vast majority does.
The seatbelt checks just add to the frustration and rebelousness that lies in each and every one of us.
But what ever...
If someone doesn't value thier life, that's thier obligation.
I agree seatbelt laws are ridiculous. What are they going to do...make condoms mandatory while having sex? lol. Fucking crazy. Good luck with the cops trying to enforce it. They'll have to pull over many more people now. You are not harming no one but yourself if you don't buckle up. It's a choice not to buckle up...not a crime.Quote:

Seatbelt laws are like the War on Drugs and Terror. It's only an excuse to promote an agenda and imprison people the government doesn't like.
I used to be really bad about not wearing it, but when I received several (3) seat-belt tickets and had to pay $135 each time, it changed my mind on the issue. In NC, you can be stopped for anyone in the car not having a seatbelt, even if it is the only infraction. But I guess I should wear it anyway :)
Yeah i just do it absentmindedly, like its 2nd nature... I think its stupid not to... now sometimes in back i wont wear one but always when im in front. Only time i remember not doing that was a few days ago while eating subway in my car, just forgot to put it on after i drove away...
Nah, I never wear it, unless I'm with my mom because her car does this annoying beep shit if you don't put it on and she yells at me. In my car though, almost never, unless I'm riding really dirty 'n the people I'm with are sketched or some shit.
I'm not too concerned about my safety. I've been lucky so far...
i posted other because of like 3 cars i ride in, are so old, they didnt come with seat-belts in the back seat so when i ride in the back seat(even if they had seat belts put in after the car was bought) i dont wear seat belts...
I always wear a seatbelt if I can in a vehicle. I got busted once driving in the passenger seat without a seatbelt and got a nasty ticket. The ticket didn't bother, it was the fact we were smoking a huge fatty when we got pulled over. The cop was wicked cool and didn't say anything about the weed as I'm 110% sure he could smell it. You'd have to be dumb not to smell it.
Plus I don't want another ticket where that ticket money is probably going to paying officers wages.
Nochowder- I love your sig. PASTAFARIAN!
-RAmen.
why would you choose that? why do you take the risk? what do you gain by not wearing it?Quote:

I don't get those of you who don't wear them. I really don't. I guess you don't value your lives as much. Or perhaps you really don't realize they do more good than harm.
I wish you'd take an opportunity to do a ride-out with the medics in your town when they're working motor vehicle accidents. That'd give you a quick attitude adjustment.
Always. It's become a good habit. I have to admit, though...every accident I've ever been in (haven't been in one for a long time, thank goodness), I didn't have my seatbelt on and I survived ok. But, I still wear it ALL the time. It's automatic...just a reflex. Gotta set a good example too. :D
The Fog :rastasmoke:
I've never had a problem with wearing a seatbelt. I was always raised to wear it, and I've grown to accept it. There's nothing wrong with being safe. I almost always wear it. I mean, why not?
Every single time I get in a car it's just a habbit to put it on. I remember I rode in a friends 65 mustang one time that didn't have them at all and I just didn't feel right.
I said no. Reason being, I have had multiple friends not die in a car crash because they were ejected from the car. Another friend was in a car wreck and the person that hit her got cut pretty close to completely in half due to the seat belt...
That might be the case with the couple specific instances you know, but that's not the case in general. You might be more likely to be injured wearing a seatbelt in an accident, but you are definitely more likely to die without the seatbelt.Quote:

I choose not to wear it because I can.Quote:

If i crash and die, that's my own stupid fault isnt it? It's no one elses problem.
The point is, i do not, and will not wear a seatbelt in my own car/van.
Weather i am or am not wearing a seatbelt only effects me, so it's my decision.
love my seatbelt, saved my life not too long ago....

:(:(I guess i should add my part in this thread, but i will have to tell you its going to be painful for me. so if i get into detail its only because im still hurt over this. sorry guys
My mother little sister, mothers friend, and a dog where driving cross country we were moving to missouri for awhile. I wasnt able to join them due to the fact i was still in school i would of jsut flyed out. I was 15. My father came into my room to tell me something inportant his eyes were red so i thought he was mad at me and instantly was like wtf did i do now dad? he says theirs been an accident. My sister in the hospital along with the driver. so i said okay what about mom? he then started to shake his head telling me she didnt make it. I instantly said dont fuck around dad thats not cool, tell me the truth. He then reached out and hugged me. i feel to the floor in shock and had an instant anxiety attack. I started to scream because i had no idea what to do. Right before this happen my mother and i where never friends, but for some reason we started to click and she left with us on good terms. But anyways i ran out the door and into the forest. I ended up flying to Kansas witchata. it was even in the news. My little sister was throw 80 feet from the car. My mother,.. well they said she died on impact from server head trauma and suggested cremation on the account they could not fix her. The drivers faced smashed into the windshield breaking every bone in her face. i still see her to this day, and everyday she is drunk and crying. or drunk and mad at herself. It will be 4 years in January's. this is the first time i have ever told anyone this and it feels so good to let it out.. maybe this has just helped me.. thank you.. iv come along way about accepting this but every now and then i just miss her....i also was the one to tell my little sister about our mother, the nurse offered but i told her, it might be better if she heard it from me..
i always wear a seat belt, and i have no fear of driving in cars. my city has actually been giving out lots of tickets for no seat belts lately so everyone is wearing them now.
i am getting myself into this scene soon(emt though). Wish me lluck :thumbsup:Quote:

Good luck with the EMT work. Those car accidents will be very hard to handle, especially having had one touch your own life so closely. You'll never again look at people without seatbelts, people who choose to drive drunk, or people who don't restrain their children in child safety seats the same way.
this message has to be drilled into are heads over and over again, dont give the man a reason to pull you over, live free under the law, by living by it.
